Novak Djokovic was once a young man, and according to former Atp player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, he struggled with finding himself.
When Djokovic entered the world of professional tennis, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were established players. Both of them are similar players in the way they approach tennis - highly professional and highly uncontroversial.
Djokovic is a bit different by nature, and it rubbed people the wrong way. He simply didn't fit what people wanted him to be, and for a while, he struggled with it.
According to Tsonga, who was coming up at the same time as the Serbian, Djokovic wanted to be like Federer and Nadal early on in his career before finally embracing himself as he is.
I consider that he had a period where he didn't want to be himself. He wanted to be Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal, when perhaps he should have remained himself all along.

Carlos Alcaraz recently broke the Top 20 list in career prize money, eclipsing former World No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to reach that mark.
This season, Alcaraz became the first player born in the 2000s to cross the $20 million in career earnings and has added to his bank account during his stay on indoor hard courts in autumn, taking his total prize money to $22,583,074.
Alcaraz sits precisely in the 20th spot on the list which is quite an impressive rise considering he made his full Atp debut in 2020 at the Rio Open as a 16-year-old. He has developed into an elite athlete under the guidance of former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero.
The young sensation has earned 95% of his career earnings since the start of the 2022 season. Alcaraz became the first teenager to win at least $10 million in prize money in a single season. And he has hit eight figures in prize...

Former player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga believes that Novak Djokovic is not only the greatest of all time but will actually finish with up to 28 Grand Slam trophies.
The careers of Novak Djokovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga are historically linked, of course, because it was Tsonga who stood opposite of Djokovic when the Serbian won his maiden Grand Slam trophy in 2008.
It was a full three years before Djokovic would win a second Grand Slam trophy, but it was deserved. Both played a fabulous event to get to the final as Djokovic bested Roger Federer in the semi-final while Tsonga took care of Rafael Nadal.
In the final of that Australian Open, Djokovic prevailed in four sets to win his first Grand Slam. The Serbian was never expected to become as great as he ended up being.

Stefanos Tsitsipas instantly fell in love with tennis when he was introduced to the sport just three years after he was born, and he hopes his future kids will help to build and carry on his legacy.
Tsitsipas reflected on his love for the sport in a video on ATPTour.com . The Greek superstar credits his parents, Apostolos and Julia , for introducing him to the sport in 2001, and he recalls telling them to scrap off plans for any other sport as he would play and 'do' tennis for the rest of his life.
Tsitsipas recounts his first taste of Atp Tour-level tennis as a junior player back in 2017 in Rotterdam. He states that he was a 'free-spirited' player back then, without giving too much fuss about the consequences of his decision-making on the court.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga named Carlos Alcaraz as the biggest favourite for the 2023 Roland Garros, in case the 14-time champion Rafael Nadal will be absent.
The 2023 Roland Garros is quickly approaching and it's already appropriate to talk about favourites ahead of the only clay-court Grand Slam tournament. In 2023, the event also known as the French Open, will run from May 28th until June 11th and it may be marked as the deciding major in a famous 'Grand Slam Race' between Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.
But there is a new name on the horizon and it's Carlos Alcaraz. The talented Spaniard already won a major and even according to renowned coach Rick Macci, he's the most complete player on the Atp Tour.
Therefore, it's not a surprise that also former world no. 5 and two-time Roland Garros semifinalist, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga sees the teenager as one of the favourites as he revealed in an interview with WeLoveTennis.

The 2023 Lyon Open will run from May 21st to 27th and the entry list for this Atp 250 is full of challengers for the title in the French city.
The Lyon Open, which is sometimes also referred to as the Open Parc Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Lyon due to its location, is one of the five Atp tournaments that are played in France and this one gives a chance to clay-court specialists to show their qualities.
Last year, the tournament was won by Cameron Norrie, who was the first-seeded player in the draw, and in 2023 it should be no different. But as with every year, the list of contenders will be very long, and it includes a solid mix of experience and youth.

Andy Murray recorded his 42nd win at Wimbledon yesterday (June 30), and also marked his 10th year at the biggest tennis tournament in the world.
There have been many stories of triumph, tears and tantrums since making his debut as a gawky teenager in 2005, peaking at his incredible win eight years later in July 2013. Here's a look back at his decade of putting us through the emotional wringer each summer.
2005
Result: Third round
Hair level: Scruffy but short
The year after triumphing at the Junior Us Open, Murray had won his first senior matches at Queens just two weeks before his first Grand Slam. It was truly the changing of the guard as Tim Henman lost in the second round, the first time he failed to get to the second week since 1995.
Despite the presence of Sean Connery in the crowd, Murray's inexperience wasn't enough to beat David Nalbandian in a thrilling five-setter.

Whilst recently watching the Us Open it occurred to me and Tennis enthusiast James Hayes (@Hayesyyyy) that there are a few Tennis players that we reckon are worth notable mentions, players that if their games were televised – we would both strongly recommend that you watch their games, just to see what unbelievable talents some of them are. Some are just enjoyable to watch, whilst others actually have the potential to become the greatest players ever.
There are four Grand Slams each year so we recommend that if you do get a chance to watch the following players (especially on the BBC during ‘Wimbledon season’) that you don’t throw the opportunity away too quickly.
5. Kei Nishikori
World Number 12, Kei Nishikori, is an impressive player to watch indeed. The 23-year old is known for his aggressive baseline play, especially his change of pace and neat footwork when moving around the court.

No one can stop this guy on clay! Rafael took home his record eighth French Open title on June 9, defeating David Ferrer in straight sets.
David Ferrer was thrilled to make it to his first ever major tournament final. Unfortunately, it was at the French Open against Rafael Nadal. Serena Williams, 15-time Grand Slam champion, was defeated by 19-year-old American Sloane Stephens Wednesday (Jan. 23) at the 2013 Australian Open. It was Williams first loss since August and first loss at a Grand Slam event since the 2012 French Open.
Williams struggled all tournament after injuring her ankle in her opening match. "I'm almost relieved that it's over because there's only so much I felt I could do. I've been thrown a lot of (curve) balls these two weeks," Williams tells the AP.
Stephens now advances to a semifinal against defending champion Victoria Azarenka, which takes place Thursday. The other semifinal in the women's singles bracket will be between Maria Sharapova and Li Na.
On the men's side, Roger Federer pulled out a win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in a match that lasted just over 3.5 hours. Federer will face Andy Murray on Friday. The other men's semifinal is between defending champion Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer on Thursday.

In 1938, Henry ‘Bunny’ Austin played in the final of Wimbledon and so began a 74-year wait for another British men’s finalist. On Friday afternoon, Andy Murray answered the peoples’ prayers as he overwhelmed Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3 6-4 3-6 7-5 to reach that prized place in the men’s final.
Murray’s path to the final of Wimbledon 2012 has not been easy and every one of his opponents has been, at one time or another, a top-20 player. Today, Andy Murray will aim to become the first British man to reach the Wimbledon final for 74 years. The only thing standing in his way is Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. This will be the Scotsman’s fourth semi-final attempt in as many years, but this time the odds are in Andy’s favour.
Tsonga has only 1 win in 6 over Murray on the head-to-head, but is positioned only two places behind him in the world rankings. Before the start of play on Wednesday afternoon, many held the belief that were Murray to come through his tricky quarter-final tie with Spanish no. 2, David Ferrer, then he would surely be favourite to reach the final. Pippa Middleton had a big weekend - she signed a $600,000 book deal, and to celebrate, watched some tennis with two guy friends! Pippa, who loves the sport and even checked out Wimbledon earlier this year, was in a private area to watch as Roger Federer won his sixth Atp World Tour master’s championship title after beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Over the weekend, new pictures of party planner Pippa were released that show her in her professional element. Her tips for throwing the perfect event will be the focal point of her upcoming book, to be released by an imprint of Penguin. The deal comes at a good time for Pippa, as she's reported to be quite sad about her breakup from long-term boyfriend Alex Loudon. She put on a good show last night, though, as she smiled next to her two guy friends and didn't seem to let on that anything much was bothering her.

The eleven month long men’s tennis calender draws to a close this week at the Barclay’s World Tour Finals in London. The Atp season truly is a marathon and as in any distance race, a handful of the fittest have surged ahead of the pack and race each other to the finish line. Each of the race’s four leading men – Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer – enter the elite eight-man round robin tournament with various question marks over, so it truly is any man’s race. Let’s evaluate each contender’s chances of taking home the season-ending championships.
The marathon’s front-runner Novak Djokovic comes into London more than a little exhausted. Djokovic played a nearly unblemished three quarters of the season, taking home the Australian Open, Wimbledon and Us Open trophies, compiling a 6-0 record against Nadal and thereby dethroning the Spaniard as the World No.
