Because of travel last week, I didn't get to do my "Survivor" recap until Friday and I didn't get to do my "Survivor" exit interview until Tuesday and I'm only posting it tonight, which probably means that I already need to remind people who Dale Wentworth even was. It's not that Dale didn't do interesting things. Kelley's father started fire with his glasses, orchestrated Nadiya's elimination by referencing "Amazing Race" precedent, bickered with Missy about rice and made a semi-valiant attempt to save his hide with the use of a Fake Immunity Idol. It's just that when "Survivor" moves on, it's sometimes hard to remember the people left behind. Fans are already on to being up-in-arms about this week's departed castaway and that unapologetic exit interview will be posting tomorrow. In my conversation with Dale we chatted about his difficulties swaying his tribe to focus on somebody else instead of him,...

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of Survivor Redemption Island - Episode 1.Survivor Redemption Island premiered with a bang tonight, showing that this new cast (while not as stupid as last season's bunch of morons) still has a Lot to learn. Rob's statement in the Tribal Council voting confessional was too perfect not to be the title of this recap.
Tonight’s recap is going to be my first impressions of this season’s cast, along with a few Random Thoughts at the end. He made it to the final five, but for many Survivor: Nicaragua fans, it was easy to forget Dan Lembo was still in the game. After sustaining a knee injury early in the season, the 63-year-old real estate executive avoided as many challenges as he could and avoided the drama that defined fellow players such as Marty Piombo and NaOnka Mixon. Even when Holly Hoffman drowned his $1,200 shoes, Dan hardly blinked. Looking back, Dan says his carefree exterior was key to his strategy. He talked with TVGuide.com about how he kept his cool with Holly, why he bragged about his fortune to his teammates and his thoughts on next season's twist...

Smiling, sneaky Sash Lenahan had burned too many bridges to garner any votes Sunday night (Dec. 19) on the "Survivor: Nicaragua" finale. He tells Zap2it that he thought he played the best strategic game and how he feels about Dan's harsh words for him and Chase.
Why eliminate Holly before the final three?
"Ya know, at that point you can't win the game unless you're in the final tribal, so I thought if I put on a good performance I had a shot at beating any of the remaining players. At that point I just wanted to get myself to the end and that was to go with whatever Fabio wanted, so it was an easy choice for me."
Did you think you had a shot to win going into the final vote?
"Yes, I did. I think I played the most textbook game of 'Survivor.' I don't regret anything.

Jud "Fabio" Birza is the king of Survivor: Nicaragua. We felt it was a well deserved win which represented a change in Jud's character and game play throughout the season. What do our writers think? Did the right person win? Could it have played out differently? What do we make of Redemption Island?
We're looking forward to hearing from our readers as well.
Did the right person win?
Kyle Kalember: The person I was rooting for by the end won, but that wasn't the question that was asked. I truly believe that Fabio deserved to win the game. He was just as deserving as any of the final three and I was happy with the outcome.
Dan Forcella: That is such a tough question in the game of Survivor. That's what makes this game so good: in any given season, the jury can vote entirely differently. I have been...

He had to win three straight challenges just to get to the finals, but once he did, Judson “Fabio” Birza poured on the charm to become the million dollar winner of Survivor: Nicaragua. His savvy social game combined with strength in immunity competitions propelled him over Chase and Sash, making the 21-year-old the youngest Survivor winner ever. We spoke this morning with a still clearly elated Fabio, even if he was working on only 25 minutes of sleep.

Another season of 'Survivor' has come and gone -- and I guess I can even say the person I was rooting for won. The thing is, I only starting rooting for Fabio two weeks ago, when I realized that the time to pick a favorite had long since passed. Sure, like a lot of people, I was rooting for the male model formerly known as Judson, but only from a dearth of options. What was I supposed to do? Root for 'villainous' Sash, whose claim to fame was getting Marty to give up an idol? Sash called himself a backstabber, but his mild-mannered play looked more like a back massage to me. Come on, guy! Villains are supposed to be evil!
Then there was Chase, who floated to the final four like a pretty princess, never really making any calls at all. And even Fabio,...

During the first tribal council of tonight’s season finale, Dan gave his reasons for why he felt Holly was a bigger threat than him.
Whether it made sense to you, me, the jury or anyone, Jeff Probst correctly pointed out that Dan’s perception of why Holly is a threat matters more than if she really was one.
This conversation very neatly summarized the way that Jud, Holly, Dan and, even to some extent, Chase, changed throughout the course of the season. If a vote took place even halfway through the game, none of these four would have been in the top three vote getters. Ironically, the one who would have been, Sash, was blanked in the finale.
Although Chase and Sash tried to argue otherwise at the final tribal council, the way Jud played the game most definitely is a viable way to play. Going with the flow,...

Jud "Fabio" Birza is the Sole Survivor of "Survivor: Nicaragua". The 21-year-old model from Los Angeles beat 24-year-old singer Chase Rice and 30-year-old real estate broker Matthew "Sash" Lenahan in the December 19 finale by gaining five votes from the show's nine-person jury of previous contestants.
That night, Fabio won his three straight immunities including the coin-stacking challenges. He also won fellow survivors' sympathy when giving a tribute to his family in the Tribal Council. In his opening statement on the final Tribal Council, Fabio said he was "himself" while Chase chose to boast about being the one who outwit and outplayed everybody else.
Audience got to see Marty voting for Fabio, Alina voting for Chase, Dan voting for Fabio and Brenda voting for Chase. When it was down to 4 to 4, host Jeff Probst called out the last vote which went to Fabio. He consequently won the $1 million prize.

'Survivor: Nicaragua' finale: Jud 'Fabio' Birza, Chase Rice, Holly Hoffman or Sash Lenahan? Who won?
Were you surprised by the finale of the 21st season of "Survivor"? We were surprised by a few things, particularly how close the final vote was.
Immunity Challenge
After a season-recapping video montage and some boring strategy talk, the survivors head to the next Immunity Challenge. They have to answer questions about Nicaragua in order to get puzzle pieces, then assemble a puzzle for the win.
Holly, Sash and Chase are in the lead when they get to the puzzle. Dan and Fabio are in it, but far behind. Sash is good at puzzles and looks to have this in the bag, until Fabio masterfully gets his puzzle together and takes it. Wow, good for Fabio.
Pre-Tribal
Fabio is gunning for Holly and he starts working on Chase and Sash to vote her out. Chase seems to be pretty set on Dan because Dan hasn't made any enemies and will easily win jury votes.

Whether or not you've embraced her home-spun North Carolina wisdom, you can't deny that Jane Bright has been one of the most memorable characters in the slightly character-deficient "Survivor: Nicaragua" season. Whether she was starting fire without flint, flipping on her fellow "old" contestants to help crush the cocky Marty/Jill alliance or sneaking off into the woods to devour a fish she caught, Jane found a way to become one of the season's most featured contestants. And when she was voted out of the game -- betrayed by cautious Sash and Holly and spineless Chase -- she left with...

Jane Bright was blindsided on "Survivor: Nicaragua" Wednesday night (Dec. 15) when her own alliance that she thought was good until the final four turned on her. She tells Zap2it that she tried to get Dan and Fabio to side with her once she saw which way the wind was blowing, but they wouldn't.
Are you glad you went on "Survivor"? Was it everything you hoped it would be?
"And more. [laughs] You know, just the opportunity to be selected and be part of a team of 20 people, I thought was pretty awesome. Then to get out there, play the game, win some challenges, do good, I thought it was great."
Why were you, Fabio and Dan so upset about not being taken on the reward. Only three people got to go, Chase couldn't take everybody.
"He had already said he was going to take Sash because Sash hadn't been on any rewards.

We spent the majority of our review going over the follies of Jane and who are the favorites to walk away as the sole survivor on Sunday. But there's still plenty more to talk about from last night. Did Dan and Jud mess up by not voting with Jane? What was Probst doing interfering with the game at tribal council?
As always, we like to hear our readers opinions too.
Should Dan and Jud have tried to vote with Jane?
Kyle Kalember: As it turns out no. Jane just threw a vote to Sash and it would never have worked. I think the only play either of them had was to vote for Jane. Dan might need to scramble more than Fabio does. Fabio can actually win immunity, but Dan won't.
Dan Forcella: Yes! Not only are they too dumb to even come up with this as an idea, but...

After last night’s temper tantrum, I hope that anyone who was a Jane supporter is hiding in the shadows this morning, afraid to admit that they backed a woman who is 56 going on 5.
I haven’t been a Jane supporter since her ridiculous spat with Marty. Absurdly, she took his attempts to vote her out of the game as a personal attack. She refused to recognize his logic that she was a threat to win challenges and the game. Instead she responded in a manner only a fraction better than how NaOnka handles adversity. Unfortunately, she ultimately won out over Marty because was more of a threat to Brenda and Sash than Jane.
Since Marty’s ouster, Jane has calmed down a bit, made close friends with Chase and Holly and cried over a dead chicken. Then, Jud wins immunity and suddenly her head is on the chopping block again.

Here is Sean Furfaro’s recap of Survivor Nicaragua – Episode 13.That sound you heard about 4 minutes into this episode? That was me vomiting.
You knew it was coming. I've warned you for weeks. And now, with tonight's episode being the last one before the Season Finale on Sunday, it's time for the dreaded "Loved Ones" episode. Just look at the picture above, as the Survivors check out the handy new Sony Evo.
What the hell is happening in that picture anyways? Jane looks like she's looking at picture of a fish she can sneak away with and eat on her own, Dan is confused, and Fabio is fixing his hair. Once again, I submit to you, Survivor Nicaragua is a candidate for worst season ever.
My Random Thoughts:
- Previously on…Survivor: as Holly said, What the f*** is wrong with Chase? Jeff’s voice-over reminded us of Chase’s indecisiveness,...

If you missed the absolutely crazy, history-making last episode of Survivor: Nicaragua, catch up with my recap here.
This week's episode begins with Jeff summing up how Sash's position in the game has changed so dramatically with Kelly and NaOnka quitting last week. Libertad returns to camp on the night of Day 28. Holly thinks the double-quitting is "Unbelieveable." There are only eleven days left, and they quit. Benry notices that they haven't named the remaining chicken yet, and suggests that they name it "Kelly-Nay" because Kelly and NaOnka are chicken. Sash confesses that he was the only one who didn't benefit from the girls quitting. He's stuck in the middle between two alliances: Chase, Jane and Holly vs. Fabio, Benry and Dan. He still has the Hidden Immunity Idol, so the odds remain in his favor, but the game has become a whole lot more difficult.
The next morning,...

Apparently quitters never prosper either. In a shocking move, Kelly "Purple" Shinn, 20, and NaOnka Mixon, 27, took themselves out of the running for the million-dollar prize on Survivor this week, after completing almost three-fourths of the competition. The nursing student from Mesa, Ariz., and the Los Angeles-based Pe teacher defended their decisions in a phone interview with People. Jeff gave you the afternoon to stew. Did you ever waver about quitting? Kelly: I thought about it but I don't know that I reconsidered. I was so physically ill. I tried to figure out if my body could handle any more and I didn't think it could.

As the cast of Survivor: Nicaragua gets more depressing with each player revealing more character flaws, the game continues to get more difficult to predict. We already killed the pair in our review, but wanted to give our round table writers (and our readers!) a chance to sound off as well.
Which unnecessarily long decision announcement did you like better: LeBron James's or Kelly S and NaOnka's?
Kyle Kalember: They both sucked. I hated them both. I was convinced that NaOnka was gone, but I was holding out hope that Kelly S would change her mind. I'm still shocked that this actually happened. The saving grace was Jeff being so visibly annoyed with both of them. The entire show he had an awesome edge to him. This is why he is the best host ever. Nobody cares more about this show than he does and he hates anyone that disrespects the game.

"Survivor: Nicaragua" had an historical moment on Wednesday night (Dec. 1) when NaOnka Mixon and Kelly Shinn quit the game after 28 days, only 11 days from the end. They tell Zap2it in their joint exit interview why they quit and that they don't feel bad about it.
Even though you quit the show, are you still glad you went on "Survivor"?
Kelly: "I am so glad. I think 'Survivor' is the opportunity and experience of a lifetime. I think it was incredible, even if it was not always beautiful and wonderful. I spent some of the worst days of my life in Nicaragua, but that was part of the experience. I would not have changed anything. I'm so happy to have been a part of 'Survivor: Nicaragua.'"
NaOnka: "I am so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to have been one of the chosen few African-Americans...

Okay, I’m not a lawyer, but it seems to me that there is a bit of an implied contract when you agree to be on Survivor.
On our side, we promise you the adventure of your lifetime. Something you have never experienced before and will probably never experience again. It’s a multi-million dollar, life-changing thrill ride that will test you on every level. We promise, and we always deliver. Always.
In exchange we expect only two things from you: Show up… and play. That’s it. When you fail to do one or both of those requirements you...

LeBron James’ one-hour Espn special, “The Decision,” is no longer the worst televised announcement in history.
That title now belongs to last night’s episode of Survivor “You Started, You’re Finishing."
A player quitting on Survivor is certainly unique and deserves plenty of attention. But did we really need to stall for an afternoon to convene for a special tribal council so that Kelly S and NaOnka could make their quitting decision official? Obviously, Jeff was trying to get them to change their mind. Perhaps Kelly S might have been swayed, but NaOnka had clearly thought everything through. She even had a seemingly rehearsed speech prepared to tell Jeff she was finished.
At least most of us didn’t really know what LeBron’s decision was going to be when we were dragged through the one-hour debacle. We may have wasted an hour, but we got an answer out of it.

Let’s get to it, and find why Jeff Probst teased tonight’s episode as one of his favourite from this season:

My Random Thoughts:

- Previously on Survivor… This was a fantastic ‘Previously’ segment from the King of the Blue Shirts, including: describing the fire as “accidental”, when most would use the term “idiotic”; referring to Purple Kelly as “blindly obedient” to Brenda and Sash; and the dramatic phrase “a month in Nicaragua had made one thing clear: this was no place for the weak”, followed by a recap of who wanted to quit, when, and why. Foreshadowing, anyone?

- In the opening segment right after they returned from Tribal Council, NaOnka asked“Do I look like Boo Boo The Fool?...

The show gets positively "Big Brother"-esque in its cross-promotional schilling, plus two people quit. Which is 100% weak sauce.

But first, the rain has everybody feeling pretty miserable, but some are more vocal about it than others (NaOnka and Kelly, I'm looking at you). The next morning, NaOnka gives Chase her Idol because she's going to quit. Ugh. But unsurprising.

Reward Challenge
They are divided into two teams, tied together, where each team has to untie an 8-foot "Gulliver" (he's also heavy ... downright Brobdingnagian, if you will) and carry him over a series of obstacles. Uh, Ok. That's a weird theme -- and then I understand better because it's a cross-promotion with the movie "Gulliver's Travels." Sigh. The Sprint crap is bad enough, but "Survivor" has never before quite sunk to the "Big Brother" level.

For those of you unaware, and I was one of those until about an hour before air time on the East Coast, tonight's episode of Survivor (November 24) was a Recap show of the first half of the season. I hate Recap shows, as I'm sure most of you do as well...as a matter of fact, that picture above shows my level of excitement over this episode.
We didn't really learn anything new tonight, except that Jimmy T. was even more annoying than we saw in the early episodes, apparently there was a sale on pink underwear before the Survivors left for Nicaragua, Jane didn't always look like a witch (and she starved herself in advance of the show!), Fabio rubs his eyes after touching hot peppers, and NaOnka's on-screen confessionals now warrant the theme from Jaws.
Speaking of on-camera confessionals, Purple Kelly finally got one! Although she basically...

If you missed the elimination of my pre-season favorite, Brenda, make sure to catch up with my recap here.
This week's Survivor is the traditional pre-Thanksgiving recap episode that takes a look back at the season so far by using unaired clips from the first ten episodes. As there is no new narrative to detail, and it's Thanksgiving weekend here in the States, let's just take a look at some of the highlights of the special.
--When Espada first got to their beach, Jimmy J, Jimmy T, Marty and Tyrone had a bit of a battle of testosterone to see who was going to be the leader in camp. They were eventually able to put their egos aside (a bit) to complete the shelter, but perhaps they should have worked together better because during that first night, the shelter collapsed under the weight of the tribe.

The "king" is dead. Despite being in the power position for much of the current season of Survivor, Miami's Brenda Lowe, 27, was betrayed by her alliance and forced out in a swift shift in power. The paddleboard-company owner spoke with People about the treachery, underestimating the other players and why she's no longer a sore loser. Was the shift in power as sudden as it seemed on TV? It was very, very sudden. The biggest shock was finding out at almost the last second that it was NaOnka. She had already planned it, said it, people had signed up. It was too late.

There were literal flames last night and a spectacular flame-out on the part of the season's biggest apparent strategist: it was a fiery episode of Survivor Nicaragua. And those are all the fire references I'll make. After Brenda helped take out Marty last week, everyone turned on her and sent her home. Even Brenda's allies joined in voting her out, trying to save their own asses. Only Kelly voted for someone else, because she's obviously...

Did you miss last week's Survivor Nicaragua? Catch up with my recap here.
This week's episode begins with Libertad returning to camp after ousting Marty. Brenda confesses that the votes at Tribal Council revealed to Fabio, Benry and Dan that she and Sash aren't in their alliance. She agrees that it appears she and Sash are the kind and queen of the tribe, but Sash is more of the queen and she is the king (was this a hidden sexuality reference, or is Brenda just saying she wears the pants in their partnership. I think the latter). Holly approaches Jane and tells her that Brenda and Sash are just going to pick all of them off. She, Jane, Chase and NaOnka were always tight, so they should make a move against Brenda and Sash. Holly confides to the camera that a power move must be makes against Brenda and Sash before the next Tribal Council.

People often ask me “Hey Probst! What keeps you interested in the show after 21 seasons?”
Well, I’m guessing it’s the same thing that keeps you guys interested — human nature. At its core that’s what Survivor is really all about, isn’t it? Our nature as humans and how we behave in different situations?
Holly is a great example. Five days into the show and she wanted to quit; 22 days later not only is she still around, but she could win. What changed? Her behavior. After nearly losing her mind, she rallied. She gained a lot of respect...

"Something has to change" forewarned Holly (in her South Dakotan twang) at the outset of last night's 'Survivor: Nicaragua,' "and, it has to change soon." And, change it did. Big time. Huge, even.
Here's how it went down...
Following Marty's ouster at last week's Tribal, Brenda and Sash grew even cockier (if that was possible).
"Benry, Fabio and Dan now see that Sash and I aren't on their side," purred Brenda in the dark. "I think Sash and I being in control does look like a king and queen situation, but Sash is more of a queen and I'm more of a king." Wait, didn't Shannon nail that way back in the third episode? Eerie.

While watching this week’s episode of Survivor I wrote down two very poignant phrases in my notes.:
They’re all dumb. One of the worst casts ever.
Neither thought is particularly earth shattering. A number of other writers have commented on how this season’s cast is weak. Even beyond the natural hangover we would expect after the amazing Survivor: All-Stars season.
In fact, it took me until the ridiculous tattle tale moments on the beach with Brenda prior to tribal council to finally come to grips with both facts. I couldn’t stand all of these idiots running around to each other telling their plans. How do they not know who talks to who by now? I had finally had it with these guys.
They’re all dumb.
Things only got worse at tribal council. Brenda hit the nail on the head with NaOnka’s betrayal and...

Here is Sean Furfaro's Recap of Survivor Nicaragua, Episode 10.
Last week, we saw the end of Marty, as the fake Chess Grandmaster made his way over to join Alina on the jury. Would Marty’s hair still be as crazy once he actually had a shower? Would Sash and Brenda continue to run the game? And why did CBS give us a cryptic teaser at the end of last week’s episode, only to reveal what happened in a later preview?
My Random Thoughts:
- At the beginning of the episode, Brenda talked about how she and Sash were the King and Queen at camp, but she was more like the King, and Sash was the Queen. Come on, be honest…you laughed. And you knew it was true.
- Upon returning from Tribal Council, Holly told Jane (and this is verbatim): “There comes a time in this game,...

Jane is a rock star in another challenge and the jury gets another member on the latest "Survivor: Nicaragua" episode.

Brenda's pretty haughty about taking out Marty and that Fabio and Benry are on the chopping block. She calls herself the king to Sash's queen, which just as to be setting her up for an ouster, right? I love when editors have that kind of hubris to work with. Lo and behold, Holly and Jane start rallying the troops to vote either Brenda or Sash out next (Brenda, preferably), but Chase isn't so sure. He thinks Benry should go next.
Creepy night-vision snake.

The 10 remaining castaways have endured a lot thus far on their quest to win $1 million. They've put up with NaOnka's annoying rants and her food thefts, contentious bickering between Marty and Jane, and existing on little food and less sleep. But all of that pales in comparison with what the players discover tonight and must figure out how to endure. They return to the Libertad camp and find it in ashes following a devastating fire. Benry sums it all up well: "This is a day from hell." — Tim Holland

On "Survivor," when you have a target on your chest, you can only escape elimination for so long, even if you're an expert strategist. Sometimes it takes a full-blown Grandmaster to remain in the game. Unfortunately, Marty Piombo was only a Grandmaster in the confusing mistruth he told to seemingly air-headed Fabio. The 48-year-old technology executive may be remembered as the smartest strategist on "Survivor: Nicaragua," but he won't win the million dollars. Marty orchestrated the early ouster of Super Bowl-winning coach Jimmy Johnson, assembled a powerful alliance in his Espada tribe and then, when the tribes were reassembled...
