A former contestant on The Apprentice has claimed that Lord Alan Sugar once “went ballistic” for no reason, before he walked off set for 25 minutes.
The story comes from Mark Wright, who won the 2014 edition of the BBC reality series, and went on to partner with Sugar in a joint business venture.
Speaking on the On a Mission podcast, Wright recalled the alleged incident, which took place while filming one of the “boardroom” showdown scenes.
“One day out of the blue [Sugar] just went ballistic for no reason,” Wright said, per The Mirror. “He just went completely psycho, and he walked out of the boardroom and left everyone in there – the film crew, production, Karen and Nick and all the contestants and left us there for 25 minutes.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2022, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV and Stv last week from the London Stadium, has raised a record-breaking £15,673,728 so far for Unicef’s vital work giving children around the world the care-free, play filled childhoods they are entitled to.
This record-breaking amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and The Power of Nutrition who have matched donations up to £4 million, meaning double the difference for children. This figure has smashed last year’s record total for money raised on the night.
The hotly anticipated match took place at the sold-out London Stadium with 54,410 fans in attendance, 10 years on from the London 2012 Summer Olympics. The match ended 4-1 on penalties to Soccer Aid World XI, taking them into the overall lead with 6-5 wins since the inaugural 2006 match. In summer 2020, Gary Allan released a song that he fully expected would be a slam-dunk at country radio. “Waste of a Whiskey Drink” was a brooding mid-tempo anthem with all the boxes checked: a concise three-minutes-and-change runtime, polished production, a boozy buzzword in the title, and the red-hot solo artist Hardy as a co-writer.
“It was right down the middle,” says Allan, whose reedy voice is one of country music’s most recognizable.
But “Waste of a Whiskey Drink” got wasted on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart: It debuted and died at No.
