Now in its 16th season, “The Voice” has given a voice to musicians from all over by providing a platform for artists at various stages in their career to be heard by the world. The single truth about music is that it can touch us deeply in ways that other art can’t as easily — we can dance, cry, laugh and love to it as soon as we feel the first beat or hear the first note of a singer’s voice. Artists of all genres have moved us through their performances on the show, none more so now than the voices of these artists we’ve lost over the years.

Over the last 12 months, there was much TV news that made us happy — and plenty that made us so, so sad.
Among the headlines that broke our hearts: the deaths of many beloved television stars, which we’re reflecting on in our latest Year in Review photo gallery.
In 2018, we said goodbye to some small-screen legends, including The Facts of Life actress Charlotte Rae, Emmy winner Burt Reynolds, Laverne & Shirley star Penny Marshall and Days of Our Lives veterans Frank Parker and Peggy McCay.

Hazmat suits on, aaand… let the bloodbath begin! Night 2 of The Voice’s Season 15 Live Playoffs sent packing not just a dozen singers who’d made it through the Blind Auditions, Battles and Knockouts, it also re-eliminated a wannabe contestant who’d run the gauntlet of The Comeback Stage for a second chance. Since the vocalists I was most enthusiastic about — Kennedy Holmes, Michael Lee, Sarah Grace, Kirk Jay and, after Monday’s wow of a performance, DeAndre Nico — seemed like safe bets to advance, what really had me on the edge of my seat was anticipation of the eliminations...

Beverly McClellan, a standout on The Voice, has died. She was 49. McClellan, who was third runner-up on the NBC singing competition’s first season, was diagnosed in March with endometrial cancer, which metasticized, according to her GoFundMe page. Her wife, Monique, shared news of her death on Facebook.
On The Voice, McClellan auditioned with a powerful rendition of “Piece of My Heart” during which coaches Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera turned their chairs. McClellan joined Team Christina.
Born in Kingsport, Tenn. and raised in Gate City, Va., McClellan had an impressive resume before auditioning for The Voice. She won the New York National Music Festival in 2004 as Best Overall Performer among 500 contestants. She had recorded five independent albums without having been signed by a record label when she auditioned for The Voice.
The Voice‘s Adam Levine and fellow contestant Nakia posted condolences on social media.
I am absolutely heartbroken.

I went into tonight’s installment of The Voice expecting newbie coach Usher to do something crazy: Use his last remaining ‘Steal’ on one of his own team members. Throw a Knockout Rounds-bound contestant back into the waters when a fresher catch swam by. Maybe even play his trump card and pull Justin Bieber out from beneath his coach’s chair — in much the same way Blake Shelton uses his Acm award — to lure a vocalist onto his team.

In comparison to Monday's semifinals, there was very little Christina Aguilera on tonight's The Voice Results. That made me happy, but it probably disappointed the loyal Xtina lovers, which includes many of you TV Fanatics.
With some help from the coaches, America whittled the remaining crop of hopeful artists from eight to four, preparing us for what should be an exciting finale next week. Who made it through? Who was sent home? And which former finalist returned with the best performance of the night?

On Tuesday's elimination episode of "The Voice," the finalists were revealed for the teams. Coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green, and Blake Shelton each had 100 points to divide between their two finalists. Those points would be added to the percentage of America's vote each finalist received, meaning that the vote and the coach had about equal influence on the finalists.
Amidst the sad exits, though, we were privy to performances from last year's finalists. Blake's contestant, Dia Frampton, was joined by Kid Cudi to perform her new single, "Don't Kick The Chair." Vicci Martinez sang with her coach, Cee-Lo, for her song "Come Along." The legendary Cyndi Lauper sang "Money Changes Everything" with Beverly McClellan, Christina Aguilera's contestant from Season 1. Finally, Javier Colon sang his cover of "A Drop in the Ocean" by Ron Pope.
So who was eliminated?
Team Christina: Lindsey Pavao is eliminated, Chris Mann is the finalist.

Cee Lo Green never uses 10 words when he can use 1,300, but on tonight’s semifinal results telecast of The Voice, there was a very direct message in the middle of his intergalactic free-verse poetry. The cat-strokin’ dude was correct: It’s been well documented that his team contained ”two of arguably the best contestants on this show” — and it totally blew that one of ‘em had to go home under the “one finalist per coach” rule that continues to be the absolute worst aspect of NBC’s fledgling singing competition. (Yes, even worse than Christina Milians and Milians of Inane Questions from the Sprint Lounge!

The Voice 2012 eliminated Lindsey,Katrina,Erin,& Jamar tonight in the semifinals. Tonight's elimination show, kicked off with a review of last night's performances. Then last year's runner-up Dia Frampton, hit the stage to sing her song titled, "Don't Kick The Chair." Next, Christina gave her final two team members,Lindsey Pavao and Chris Mann, 50 points. Then America's vote, totaled it out to be 104-96 in Chris' favor,so he moved on to the finals, and Lindsey moved back home. After that, last year's top 4 contestant Vicci Martinez, hit the stage to sing her song " Come Along," and Cee Lo eventually accompanied her. Next,Adam gave his team members Tony Lucca and Katrina Parker their scores. Tony got 60 points and Katrina got 40 points. Then America's vote, rounded it out to 108-92 in favor of Tony,so Adam's score did matter. Tony moved on to the finals, while Kristina got ousted. After a break,...

Our finalists for The Voice Season 2 have been determined and the results were naturally the opposite of what was laid out in hopes in Monday night’s review. To compensate, finalists from season one returned to the stage to update us on their music careers and perform. There were some very exciting special guests performers joining half of them on stage, so as sad as the night was, saying goodbye to four incredible vocalists, the performances definitely softened the blow.
As a reminder of how the voting works for the semi-finals into the finals, the coaches have 100 points to distribute among their final two competitors. America’s votes are also divided up and the points added to the coaches’ votes. Whoever has the most votes advances to the finals. Up first for results was Coach Christina. Aguilera gave her artists, Chris Mann and Lindsey Pavao a 50/50 vote, to let America be the deciding factor.

Last night on The Voice, spectacles were all the rage. From the celebrity coaches' attire to the productions behind individual and team performances, the show was, to say the least, a sight to see. Are we getting away from the big picture here, though, by painting a ... different picture? Someone will be crowned "The Voice" next week! Can we just cut the fluff and get to the goods, people?
Of course not! If we cut out the extraneous "we have to fill an entire hour or two-hour time slot" then we would most definitely miss out on tonight's performance. Look for performances by season one finalists Javier Colon, Dia Frampton, joined by hip-hop star Kid Cudi, Beverly McClellan, joined by living legend Cyndi Lauper, and Vicci Martinez, joined by former coach Cee Lo Green.

Next week, "The Voice" semifinals begin, and they're starting off with a bang. On Monday's performance show, not only will the contestants sing their own songs, but they'll join their coaches for performances, too. Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and their teams will unite to sing "Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga, and Adam Levine and Cee-Lo Green will lead their teams for a performance of "All These Things I've Done" by The Killers.
If that isn't enough awesome music for you, you'll also be able to check out Blake Shelton's first-ever television performance of his new single, "Over," from "Red River Blue."

"The Voice" kicked off this week which a serious case of the giggles and what was to come was easily the most bizarre episode of this show ever. And that includes Cee Lo's wig, his group trip to the massage parlor and his serious fauxhawks.
Initially, we're not sure why the coadges are all fighting back laughter. But once we learn, we wish we had stayed uncertain. Turns out, Cee Lo is having some gas issues.
As irritable father figure Carson tells the coadges, "Let's focus here," Christina says, "Why do you think I got this fan?" Luckily for the pop star, she has a paper fan, while Cee Lo has a mini battery-operated one. Unfortunately, no one has that one you can get in Disney World that's a bottle with a fan head because clearly they're the coolest.

Clarkson — inaugural American Idol champ, current pop superstar, and recently announced adviser to Voice judge Blake Shelton — just finished killing it delivering the National Anthem at Super Bowl Xlvi in Indianapolis. Voice mentor Aguilera, meanwhile, pretty much murdered “The Star Spangled Banner” (and not in a good way) with a botched lyric and a histrionic delivery a year ago (at Super Bowl Xlv).
But hey…let’s not dwell on the tawdry past.

Every year GLAAD gives out awards for outstanding Glbt media representation. This year there are 116 nominees competing in 25 media categories - everything from Outstanding Drama Series to Outstanding Comic Book.
"As media continue to tell new stories about Lgbt people and families, a majority of Americans now support full equality of Lgbt Americans," said Mike Thompson, GLAAD’s Acting President. "This year’s nominees enlighten and entertain, while spotlighting the diversity of our community. Audiences expect to see their own worlds reflected in media, and today more than ever, those include the lives of Lgbt people. Viewers know that Lgbt characters and stories are simply natural extensions of, and glimpses into, their own experiences from across America."
Winners will be announced at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York on March 24, 2012 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square; in Los Angeles on April 21 at the Westin Bonaventure; and in San...

Season One of The Voice was a huge hit for NBC, which is partly because of its mentors, recording artists Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee-lo Green. The other part: The contestants are initially chosen based on their voice alone — not by the "complete package" as other reality singing competitions seem to look for.
At a panel for Season Two of the show, the judges took the stage to answer critics' questions, and sole female judge Christina Aguilera had some great things to say about being a woman in the music industry, and how she's constantly judged based on her body vs. her body of work. Someone asked about the marketability of someone like out lesbian finalist Beverly McClellan, Christina's mentee.
"What you brought up is actually the sole factor of why I signed up and said yes to doing the show in the first place," Aguilera said.

Aguilera and fellow mentors Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green will all return to the coaches' chairs when the NBC vocal competition premieres on Sunday, February 5 following the Super Bowl. In a video posted on the show's official website, she said: "This year I'm looking for eager, hungry talent that wants it more than anything. I'm ready this year. I'm bringing my game face. It's on. We all learned things from last year but I know Team Xtina's coming back at you again!" Christina Aguilera knows what it takes to stand tall in the glare of the spotlight. "You got to be a strong, powerful, very confident woman," she told People at a Television Critics Association event for The Voice, which returns to NBC Feb. 5 after the Super Bowl. The mentor, who coached Beverly McClellan to the show's first season finale, says that it's especially difficult for women in the entertainment business. "Women, we are definitely under a microscope and under massive scrutiny," Aguilera, 31, said. "As long as I am happy in my own skin, that is all that is all the confirmation I need.
