The fact that there was going to be a Blade reboot as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came as a huge surprise when the announcement was made at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July of 2019 – but all these years later, we’re still waiting on the film to make its way into production. In fact, with Bob Iger recently announcing that the studio was cutting back (even more) on Marvel stuff, Blade’s future seems in limbo. So, here’s Everything We Know About Blade.

The Blade character was previously played by Wesley Snipes in three feature films and by Sticky Fingaz in a short-lived television series. This time around, he’s going to be played by Mahershala Ali, who was already attached to the project when it was announced in 2019… and while there was no indication online that Ali has been interested in playing Blade,...

Marvel has a slew of upcoming projects slated for release in the coming years, many of which have been stalled due to the unprecedented SAG-AFTRA strike that halted the entire industry, resulting in numerous delays and cancellations.
One highly anticipated Marvel Studios project, ‘Blade,’ faced challenges long before the strikes began. It’s an MCU film centered around Eric Brooks, the iconic vampire hunter from comics, serving as a reboot of the beloved ‘Blade’ trilogy that played a pivotal role in shaping the MCU as we know it today.
The production of ‘Blade’ has encountered multiple rewrites and delays, stretching out the timeline considerably from its originally planned 2023 release. There are even reports suggesting that the main actor is reconsidering their role. With no official trailer in sight, Teaser Pro has released a concept trailer for the film, demonstrating that a straightforward formula of Blade battling vampires remains effective. You...

Marvel has plenty of projects bound to be released in the next few years, and we know that most of these projects have been stuck in a sort of limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that paralyzed the whole industry as a whole, causing plenty of projects to be both delayed or altogether canceled.
One extremely anticipated Marvel Studios project that had problems way before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ It is an McU-based movie following Eric Brooks, the most notable vampire hunter in comics, and a reboot of the already highly popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that contributed to paving the way for the MCU that we know today.
We know that ‘Blade’ production has faced numerous rewrites and delays, and for a movie that was supposed to be released back in 2023, it sure is taking a really long time, with even the main actor, according to some reports, reconsidering his role.

Marvel has a bunch of upcoming projects, and many of them got caught in the mess of the big industry strike. This strike caused delays or even cancellations for lots of projects.
One of the highly anticipated Marvel movies, ‘Blade,’ was already facing issues even before the strikes. It’s a reboot of the famous ‘Blade’ trilogy, focusing on Eric Brooks, a well-known vampire hunter from the comics.
‘Blade’ has faced a rocky production journey with numerous delays. The latest rumors suggest that the film will be postponed yet again, shifting its release date from November 7, 2025, to an unspecified date in 2026.
My personal ranking for MCU 2025:
1) Daredevil: Born Again
2) Fantastic Four
3) Thunderbolts
4) Ironheart
5) Captain America: Brave New World
6) Wonder Man
Suspect Zombies, Eyes of Wakanda and What If…? s3 may release next year so expect that ranking to change.

Mahershala Ali has been attached to the Blade reboot for what seems like almost an eternity now. The actor’s casting was received very well. Most importantly, he is not a new face to Marvel fans, since he played Cottonmouth in Luke Cage.
The actor is very well-respected in the industry, owing to his charming personality and acting chops. However, his turn as the Daywalker in the Marvel reboot is still up in the air, with the production yet to take off. If rumors are to be believed, the film looks set to make yet another change, thereby raising questions about Ali’s possible MCU debut.

David Hemingson’s The Holdovers at Focus Features won original screenplay and Cord Jefferson’s Oscar-winning American Fiction from Amazon MGM Studios took adapted honours at the strike-delayed Writers Guild Awards on Sunday.
This was a second major adapted screenplay award in relatively short order for Jefferson after last month’s Oscar win.
The Holdovers prevailed in an original screenplay category that included Barbie and May December, but not the Oscar winner Anatomy Of A Fall, rendered ineligible here because it was not produced under a Writers Guild of America (WGA) contract.
The best documentary screenplay award went to Errol Morris for The Pigeon Tunnel.

With the 2024 Oscars and the 2023 Emmys firmly in the rearview mirror, the film and TV awards calendar is all but ready to return to normalcy after last years Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes disrupted the first half of award season. The last major event to be impacted by the altered schedule is today’s WGA Awards, which took place in an unusual post-Oscars slot after the strikes forced the guild to delay its voting process. As most of Hollywood looks ahead to the 2024 film and TV slate, today’s concurrent ceremonies in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium and New York City’s Edison Ballroom gave award watchers one last chance to celebrate the best screenwriting of 2023.

The David Hemingson-scripted Alexander Payne dramedy The Holdovers and Cord Jefferson’s American Fiction were the big film winners at the strike-delayed 2024 Writers Guild Awards, which were handed out Sunday in Los Angeles and New York.
Jefferson — who also was honored with the WGA West’s Paul Selvin Award — followed his Oscar win for Adapted Screenplay as the WGA’s weird, wild and elongated Awards season wrapped with simultaneous ceremonies on both coasts. Hemingson scored a modicum of revenge for losing the Original Screenplay Academy Award to Justine Triet and Arthur Harari for Anatomy of a Fall.
The latter script, however, wasn’t eligible for a Writers Guild Award. That’s because, unlike other guilds, the WGA deems ineligible any scripts for movies not produced under its Minimum Basic Agreement or a bona fide collective bargaining agreement with various affiliated countries.
Later, the Documentary prize went to Errol Morris...

Marvel’s Blade has been dulled yet again, as star Aaron Pierre has exited the project, marking just the most recent snag in the project, which is set to be part of Phase Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As Pierre confirmed to Variety, “Early on, there were conversations…As the project evolved, I’m no longer part of that — attached.” Pierre’s character in Marvel’s Blade was unknown.
There has been a lot of change throughout the development of Marvel’s revisiting of the Blade franchise, most of which relates to talent behind the camera. For starters, Watchmen’s Stacy Osei-Kuffour was hired as writer in 2021 before being replaced by Michael Starrbury (Colin in Black & White) and a handful of others, including True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto and later Logan’s Michael Green. It’s widely believed that Aaron Pierre’s character would be dropped as subsequent drafts came in.

The nominees for the 2024 Writers Guild of America Awards are finally here.
The Writers Guild of America West (Wgaw) and Writers Guild of America East (Wgae) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in screenwriting, television, new media, news, radio/audio, and promotional writing for 2023.
Oscar-nominated screenplays for “Barbie,” “The Holdovers,” “May December,” “Past Lives,” “American Fiction,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” and “Oppenheimer” were expected WGA nominations. However, surprise nods for “Air,” “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,” and “Nyad” prove the WGA Awards still have a few tricks up their sleeve. If you’re wondering, “Poor Things” was not eligible because it wasn’t produced under a WGA contract, per a source close to the project.

Four and a half years have passed since Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced that a new Blade was in the works, with Mahershala Ali (Leave the World Behind) on board to play the title character. It has been a bumpy ride for the project ever since. It has passed through the hands of multiple screenwriters – Stacy Osei-Kuffour (PEN15), Michael Starrbury (When They See Us), True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, Beau DeMayo (The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf). It had a director in Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli). Tariq cast Delroy Lindo (Get Shorty) and Aaron Pierre (Old) alongside Ali – then he dropped out due to “scheduling issues”, and the character Pierre would have been playing was apparently written out of the story. Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) signed on to direct the film, Mia Goth (Pearl) was cast, possibly as the villain Lilith, and Blade was just weeks away from...

It’s safe to say that Marvel Studios’ Blade hasn’t had the easiest road, but things finally seem to be back on track. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Mahershala Ali provided an encouraging Blade update.
“We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you,” Mahershala Ali said. “I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon.“
Since Blade was first announced back in 2019, the project has gone through several creative teams. Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) was originally attached to direct Blade, but wound up stepping down, leaving Marvel to push pause on pre-production while they searched for a replacement. Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) later signed on to replace Tariq, with Delroy Lindo and Mia Goth joining the cast. Watchmen‘s Stacy Osei-Kuffour wrote the initial script, which has been rewritten by Michael Starrbury...

Mahershala Ali recently told Entertainment Weekly that he is feeling optimistic about his upcoming Marvel movie “Blade,” in which he will star as the comic book vampire hunter. The film, which won’t begin production until next year, has had a dramatic development period, to say the least.
Marvel first announced the project at Comic-Con 2019. “Mogul Mowgli” director Bassam Tariq came on board to helm the project in July 2021 with Stacy Osei-Kuffour writing the script, but he exited the film just over a year later and with only two months to go before cameras were set to start rolling. By then, Marvel had already set a Nov. 3, 2023 release date for “Blade.” The release was delayed to September 2024 as a result. “Lovecraft Country” director Yann Demange was brought in. Rumors of overhauled scripts plagued development as the Hollywood strikes put a pause on prep. Marvel bumped the release again to Nov.

There’s a Blade reboot in the works at Marvel Studios that will see the vampire hunter get worked into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there has been some concern that this version of Blade will be watered down in comparison to the R-rated Blade films we got from New Line Cinema a couple decades ago. But during a conversation with Deadline, director Yann Demange assured fans that we don’t have to worry about seeing a PG-13 Blade movie. Like the upcoming MCU film Deadpool 3, the Blade reboot is going to be rated R!
Mahershala Ali is taking on the title role in this reboot, and when Blade came up in his Deadline interview Demange said, “They gave me the R, which is so important. … We are going to have fun, because Mahershala is such a deep actor. Mahershala Ali, the Oscar-winning actor who is set to play the iconic vampire hunter Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was reportedly ready to leave the project due to creative differences with the studio. According to a recent article from Variety1, Ali was unhappy with the direction of the script, which had Blade as a secondary character in his own movie.
The article claims that one of the early drafts of the script, written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Nic Pizzolatto, had Blade as the fourth lead of the film, behind three new characters who were supposed to be his allies. The script also featured a villain who was a former lover of Blade’s mother, and a plot that involved a cult of vampires trying to resurrect Dracula.

Four years have passed since Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced that Blade was being rebooted as a Marvel Cinematic Universe project starring Mahershala Ali in the lead role… and it seems like the development of Blade has been causing headaches behind the scenes ever since that announcement was made. Marvel has apparently been having a very, very hard time rebooting Blade into the MCU, which is kind of strange when you think about it. I mean, how hard is it to crack Blade? The character is pretty simple! He looks cool, he has cool weapons, and he kills vampires. That's it, really. It's not that complicated. And yet, Kevin Feige and company continue to struggle with the project, which is set to star Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali in the lead role of the Daywalker. The project, along with Ali's casting, was first announced in 2019, and it's apparently been all downhill since then.

You would be lying if you said that after watching season one of The Bear, you hadn’t been eagerly waiting for the second season to drop. Season one of this comedy-drama set a benchmark when it comes to writing, direction, cinematography, emotions, and performance. Season two, or as the makers are putting it, Season 2 of The Bear, surely carried the burden of being as good as the first one, if not better. It is a delight to let the fans of this show know that The Bear Season 2 has managed to exceed expectations when it comes to presenting a powerful season. Many good shows in any genre end up losing steam by the time the follow -up season is out, mainly due to the pressure. Keeping this in mind, The Bear has delivered, and how. The Bear was one of the highly acclaimed comedy dramas of last year because, for the first time, this show broke the rules of how a comedy should be presented. There is comedy in chaos, impatience, and anger, and all of this is well executed thanks to some excellent writing done by Christopher Storer, Sofya Levitsky-Weitz, Karen Joseph Adcock, Joanna Calo, Catherine Schetina, Rene Gube and Stacy Osei-Kuffour. It looks like the writer’s room must have been as chaotic as the theme of the show, but thankfully, this is not a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth. Do you see the irony of that idiom?
Sydney Adamu is a young graduate of the Culinary Institute of America who joins Carmy’s restaurant. She is someone who not just looks up to Carmy but also to the establishment because this restaurant happens to be her father’s favorite place to eat.

Mia Goth has been turning heads in the genre world for quite some time. Take a look at our rankings of her work if you don't believe me.
I first took notice of her weirdo turn in the very bizarre and very cool Gore Verbinski flick "A Cure for Wellness" in 2016. Since then she has continued to impress onscreen, recently leading the Ti West series that so far contains "X" and "Pearl," with the final film in the terrifying trilogy, "MaXXXine," due out sometime in the next 12-ish months.
Recently, Goth has been rumored to be involved in a few high-profile projects, including Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein," and now she has another big franchise in front of her. Deadline is reporting that she will be joining Mahershala Ali in Marvel's "Blade" reboot. The details are vague, but Deadline seems pretty confident that she's gonna be the film's co-star.

Marvel Studios’ “Blade,” starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, has found its new director in Yann Demange.
The “Lovecraft Country” and “White Boy Rick” director takes the reins of the vampire slayer movie from Bassam Tariq, who exited the production in September. He will direct from a brand new script by Emmy nominee Michael Starrbury, which is said to be “darker than most MCU movies.”
After Tariq’s departure from the project, which was set to begin production in November, Marvel Studios focused on revamping the story and putting the right team in place, ultimately entering negotiations with Demange. Starrbury also replaces screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour who was originally tapped to write the film’s script.
Last month, Disney delayed “Blade” from its planned Nov. 3, 2023, release date to Sept. 6, 2024, following the production pause. With Demange in place, production on the film, which also stars Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre, is set to resume in Atlanta next year.

Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) had been attached to direct Blade for Marvel Studios for more than a year, but he wound up stepping down in September, leaving Marvel to push pause on pre-production while they searched for a replacement. It turns out that the search didn’t take all that long as Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) has signed on to direct Blade.
When Marvel Studios decided to pause pre-production on Blade, they realized the project needed a more in-depth creative overhaul than they suspected. This meant tossing out the script from previous writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen) and starting from scratch. Michael Starrbury (When They See Us) has now been brought on to write a brand-new script for Blade, with sources saying that star Mahershala Ali was “personally involved” in selecting the new writer. Production on Blade is expected to kick off in Atlanta in 2023, with the film set for a September 6, 2024 release.

“Blade” has found a new director. Yann Demange, best known for directing the pilot of HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” and the films “’71” and “White Boy Rick,” has joined the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe vampire film. THR first reported the news. IndieWire has reached out to Marvel representatives.
In addition, Michael Starrbury has been hired to pen a new script for the feature, which stars Mahershala Ali as the Marvel Comics vampire character. Starrbury was nominated for an Emmy in 2019 for his work on Ava DuVernay’s Netflix limited series “When They See Us.”
The news comes after the original director, Bassam Tariq, left the film in September, parting ways with the project just two months before production began in November in Atlanta.

Marvel Studios’ Blade will no longer have director Bassam Tariq at the helm.
Blade, which has a release date of Nov. 3, 2023, was gearing up to begin shooting in November in Atlanta. It is unclear how Tariq’s departure will impact the production start of the vampire action-thriller, which has Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the title role, with the cast also including Delroy Lindo and Old actor Aaron Pierre.
“Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film,” Marvel said in a statement to THR. “We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is.”

Exclusive: Range Media Partners has signed acclaimed writer and playwright Stacy Osei-Kuffour, who recently became the first Black woman to pen a feature screenplay for Marvel Studios with the upcoming Blade, starring Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire hunter first brought to life on the big screen in 1998 by Wesley Snipes.
Osei-Kuffour won a WGA Award in 2020 as part of the writing staff behind HBO’s Emmy-winning series Watchmen, from creator Damon Lindelof. She was previously nominated for an Emmy in 2019 for her work on the “Anan Ishii Peters” episode of Hulu’s hit comedy series, PEN15.
Additional television credits on Osei-Kuffour’s part include HBO’s Run and Prime Video’s Hunters, as well as the latter service’s upcoming series The Power, which boasts an all-female writers’ room and will star Rob Delaney and Alice Eve.

Everyone’s favorite half-vampire is returning to theaters next year. Marvel Studios’ “Blade” will premiere Nov. 3, 2023.
The news was announced out of Marvel Studio’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday evening. The announcement carries a nice bit of symmetry, as the “Blade” reboot was first announced at the 2019 Comic-Con — the last time that fans gathered together in-person for a convention of this size.
Three years ago, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige surprised Hall H by bringing out Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali. In an exceedingly coy move, all Ali did was put on “his own” hat with the “Blade” logo. Boom — a new Daywalker was born.
Since then the action film has bulked up its cast, adding Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo to the mix, though there’s no official word yet on their roles. Bassam Tariq is set to direct “Blade,” while Stacy Osei-Kuffour serves as screenwriter.

“Don’t Look Up” and “Coda” have won the top feature film awards from the Writers Guild of America, which held its annual WGA Awards on Sunday evening.
On the heels of its Producers Guild Award victory on Saturday, “Coda” kicked off the show by winning the first award of the night, for Best Adapted Screenplay. The category also included “Dune,” “Nightmare Alley,” “tick, tick…Boom!” and “West Side Story” — but two of the biggest challengers to “Coda” in the Oscar race for adapted screenplay, “The Power of the Dog” and “The Lost Daughter,” were not eligible for the award because of WGA regulations.
In the Best Original Screenplay category, “Don’t Look Up” scored a surprise victory over “Licorice Pizza,” which was favored to take the award, and “King Richard.” Two other Oscar nominees, “Belfast” and “The Worst Person in the World,” were ineligible.

You made it through the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Directors Guild Awards, and the Producers Guild Awards, too. The wait for the Oscars is almost over, but one more major guild had yet to give out its trophies before the Academy Awards. Tonight, Hollywood’s top writers came together for the Writers Guild of America Awards, which honored the finest achievements in film and television writing.
On the film side, the nominees were actually quite different from what you’ll see at the Oscars next week. In the Original Screenplay category, “Licorice Pizza,” “Don’t Look Up,” and “King Richard” were still nominated, but “Belfast” and “The Worst Person in the World” were replaced with “Being the Ricardos.” The Adapted Screenplay category was even more distinct, with only two Oscar contenders (“Dune” and “Coda”) nominated.
But it ultimately did not matter, as two Oscar nominees took the top prizes. “Coda...
