Why does Santa get to have all the killer fun? On the 5th day of Creepmas, we’re saluting Santa’s greatest helper, but with a horror twist. These four movies, and one TV series, highlight how the not-so-human holiday fixture sometimes prefers to spread holiday fear to a lethal degree. There’s something magical about pint-sized supernatural creatures, even more so when they get the spotlight over Old St. Nick. Appearances are deceiving; these elves mean murder.
The 12 Days of Creepmas continues on Bloody Disgusting, this time with 5 killer elves!
Keep track of the 12 Days of Creepmas here.

Partially funded by an IndieGogo campaign, writer/director/producer James Crow’s holiday horror anthology film Nightmare on 34th Street – which has been described as a cross between Pulp Fiction and Tales from the Crypt – is now set to make its way out into the world and will be receiving a digital release tomorrow courtesy of Wild Eye Releasing. In anticipation of that release, a trailer for the film has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Violent Night hit theaters in December of 2022. It was a surprise hit, grossing a solid $50 million domestically, and another $26 million overseas, on a thrifty $20 million budget. The premise was a “can’t miss” proposition, being about a group of mercenaries that takes a rich family hostage, while Santa Claus (David Harbour) tries to save the day (and believe in Christmas again).Yet, many folks might have missed the movie last year, as by the time it hit Peacock and Blu-ray/DVD, it was January, at which point no one really wants to watch a Christmas movie anymore. With the yuletide season upon us, now’s the perfect time to revisit this holiday action flick.
Now, whenever someone asks me what my favorite Christmas movie is, I have only one answer. Die Hard. The Bruce Willis film has long been at the center of heated debate on it being classified as a holiday film.

Violent Night was one of this fan’s best moviegoing experiences from last year (read our review). The latest from filmmaker Tommy Wirkola is a gleeful, funny, brutal, and shockingly sweet modern take on a familiar formula. And it all works. The film includes David Harbour in a role tailor-made for him as a badass Santa Claus. Then there is John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo, Alexis Louder, and the terrific Leah Brady. The cast collected is perfection.
Harbour’s take on kick-ass Claus is a rollicking good time. One of the best moments in the bloody action flick is when Santa disposes of several members of an Extraction Team. It’s a viciously intense scene that features one of the most excellent weapons in any movie, a candy cane. And yes, that thing is sharp with some help from old St. Nick and his teeth. It’s a wild experience to...

Santa Claus will return to spread Christmas cheer… and break a few skulls along the way. Violent Night was a modest box-office success, grossing over 75 million worldwide on a 20 million budget, and director Tommy Wirkola confirmed to The Wrap that Violent Night 2 is in the works.
“We’re talking about it,” Tommy Wirkola said, “and we’re just making deals and getting everything in order.” The director also confirmed that original screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller will return to pen Violent Night 2, but that the team isn’t rushing to start shooting anytime soon. “We have time to really crack the script and figure out the story,” Wirkola said. “And we have some ideas, me and Pat and Josh and the producers, we’ve been talking about where we want to take it and what we want to see.” The director added that a few of the ideas that...

(Welcome to The Daily Stream, an ongoing series in which the /Film team shares what they've been watching, why it's worth checking out, and where you can stream it.)
The Movie: "I'll Be Home For Christmas"
Where You Can Stream It: Disney+
The Pitch: This year, when you think of live-action Disney movies involving Santa Claus, you're more likely to bring up Tim Allen's "The Santa Clause" thanks to the brand new Disney+ sequel series, "The Santa Clauses" (which will apparently be returning for a second season). However, the comedian isn't the only "Home Improvement" cast member to branch out into holiday movies. During the popular sitcom's final season in 1998, Jonathan Taylor Thomas starred in "I'll Be Home For Christmas."
Due to his father remarrying less than a year after his mother passed away, hot shot boarding school student Jake (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) has grown estranged from his family back in New York.

Don’t mess with Mrs. Claus. After Scott (Tim Allen) lost his place as jolly old St. Nick, the Calvins will race against Simon (Kal Penn) to find the Santa coat in order to save Christmas in The Santa Clauses finale, dropping Wednesday, December 14 on Disney+. And in the TV Insider exclusive clip, above, Elizabeth Mitchell‘s Carol faces off with a rowdy band of giant nutcrackers as she and her family fight for to return to their former home. Clearly, that effort won’t come easy. When a drone comes zooming in instructing the nutcrackers to scuffle with the “unknown woman,” Carol does not take the label kindly. “They call me Mrs. Claus!” she cries as she comes to blows with the tall, hollow guardsmen. Earlier in the limited series, Penn’s Simon wrested control of the North Pole and used Santa’s delivery system for his e-commerce brand,...

Santa Claus first appeared on film all the way back in 1898, when he starred in a short film by George Albert Smith called, appropriately, "Santa Claus." In it, a silent Santa sneaks across a rooftop, climbs down a chimney, and leaves gifts for a little girl and boy who are nestled in their beds.
Ever since, holiday films have been stuffed with depictions of Father Christmas. Some are nice, and some are naughty. Some are jolly, and some are degenerate. Most are merry, but a few are murderous. Many films try to put their own spin on the Santa mythos, too, trying to make their St. Nick stand out from the pack of present-carrying holiday patriarchs. But others simply try to spread holiday joy, offering something jolly to put on while you sip hot cocoa and trim the tree.

Prior to 1989, actor Leslie Nielsen was still best known for playing heavies and villains. Even when he appeared in comedy classics like "Airplane!" in 1980 or "Police Squad!" in 1982, his comedic power was derived from his ability to stay stonefaced while absurdity explodes around him. 1989, however, saw the release of "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!" a film adaptation of the TV show. In that film, Nielsen played the role of Lt. Frank Drebin broadly, doing a lot of mugging and pratfalls. "The Naked Gun" was an enormous hit the year it was released, and Nielsen went full-bore into slapstick roles and spoof movies after that.
During the 1990s, Nielsen appeared in a litany of gloriously silly flicks like "Spy Hard," "Wrongfully Accused," "Repossessed" (a classic), "Dracula: Dead and Loving It," two of the "Scary Movie" sequels, and many others. Not all of these films were good, but...

Are you wondering about the perfect holiday movie night present for that action-thriller adrenaline fanatic? Oh but those big, loud, shoot-em-up “thrill-rides” aren’t really invading the multiplex for several months. Well, here’s one that “fits the bill” on both counts cause it’s fight-filled yuletide stunt/explosion spectacular. So just who’s the new action hero at its center? Yes, it’s a white Christmas splattered with lotsa’ dripping red on this very noisy Violent Night. As you might think, all is not calm.

ESPN’s loss is the Philadelphia Eagles gain, as veteran quarterback Josh McCown has opted to leave his position as an analyst with the sports network to return to football.
McCown retired in the off-season after serving as a mentor last year to New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. He will fill the Eagles need for a reliable backup to starter Carson Wentz.
Naturally, the signing was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who noted that the contract was worth $2 million, fully guaranteed, but can be worth up to $5.4 million with incentives. It’s worth noting that the Eagles have had to deploy their backup quarterback twice in the last two years, both times with spectacular results. But Nick Foles’s success led to a massive free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Nothing pure in this world seems to last very long these days. As a source of punchlines for one of TV’s funniest shows, so it must also be for the reign of Blake Bortles as the quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Over the last few seasons of “The Good Place,” the player became something of an avatar for Jason Mendoza (Manny Jacinto), one of the core group of characters stuck navigating the series’ specific version of the afterlife. From a rallying cry to tossing Molotov cocktails to the source of a dozen burning questions for an all-powerful being who knows all the secrets of existence, Bortles became a shorthand for every way that Jason’s Jacksonville roots and Earth-based aspirations seeped into his post-life behavior.
That era came to a close on Wednesday as the Jaguars released the quarterback, presumably to make way for free agent acquisition Nick Foles.

Looking until the final minutes like it may go into overtime and delay the start of the Golden Globes, last night’s NFL wild card playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears was a solid winner for not just the current Super Bowl champions but also the NFL and NBC.
After a strong performance from Eagles quarterback Nick Foles in an often grinding game, and a failed potential game-winning 43-yard field goal in the final seconds from Bears kicker Cody Parkey that bounced off both the upright and the crossbar, the visitors in the Windy City claimed a 16-15 victory. That victory puts more wind under the Eagles’ wings for a possible Super Bowl return.

Snagging 19 million viewers on the Comcast-owned network, the late starting Eagles winning kickoff game fell 13% in broadcast audience from last year’s NFL opener with the New England Patriots and the victorious Kansas City Chiefs.
That’s another year of straight double digit decline for the NFL and NBC. With last years opener holding the previous record, the 2018 battle in Philly is also the worst any kickoff game has done since 2009.
In fast affiliates, the season opener drew a 6.6/27 among adults 18-49. A drop of 14% from the final demo numbers of the September 7, 2017 game.

In a year that saw the conviction of disgraced former Team USA doctor and Michigan State University physician Larry Nassar, the 2018 Espy awards took it upon itself to shine a light on the unity of the sexual assault survivors and celebrated the feats performed by female athletes over the past year. The show was hosted by former race driver Danica Patrick, the first woman to host the ESPYs since their inception in 1993.
In a somber, spine-tingling moment that brought several in attendance at the Microsoft Theater to tears, around 100 women took the center stage while singer Milck, an abuse survivor herself, sang her anthemic single, “Quiet.” Each woman in the group that filled the stage was representative of the “sister survivors” who spoke out against Nassar.
“Telling our stories of abuse over and over again in detail is not easy,” said Sarah Klein, a former gymnast and victim of Nassar’s abuse.
