Last week on “So You Think You Can Dance” when the Top 8 performed, I feared that contemporary dancer Benjamin Castro and his hip-hop partner Anna Linstruth were going to be in trouble when it was revealed they were doing a Polynesian routine. Such ethnic choreography –including Bollywood and African — doesn’t always feel authentic when done by those who are not familiar with that style.
Sure enough, the pair had to say goodbye by the end of the episode.
But during Top 8 week there was another equally dicey pitfall that was awaiting contemporary contestant Madison Jordan and her ballroom partner Ezra Sosa — namely, disco. This style of choreography not only can it seem dated but also has so many intricate lifts and spins that dancers have been known to be injured and not just by an overdose of sequins.

This episode of Grave Mysteries looks at the murder of Professor Tiffany Maher, a charismatic educator at Northeastern State University Tiffany Maher was a popular professor and was seen as a role model by many of her student. It was all the more shocking therefore, when the 38-year-old was murdered. The police investigation started after her body was found in her Tahlequah home on May 31. Their search led them online and to Maher’s dating profiles on Plenty of Fish and OKCupid. They also uncovered a contact on her cell phone, which turned up a name and address. This was Joshua Schneider and […]

Spoiler alert: If you haven't watched the So You Think You Can Dance finale yet, proceed with caution. Can't say we were all that shocked by sweethearts Eliana and Chehon beating out Tiffany Maher and Cyrus Spencer respectively, but did any of the six judges have a jaw on the floor moment? You bet! Get the backstage chatter, plus Eliana and Chehon's emotional reaction: "It hasn't settled yet, it still feels like I'm dreaming," Eliana told E! News, adding her mother was the first person she was...

Last night the So You Think You Can Dance finale aired with the top four dancers performing for one last time. Interestingly enough, all of this years finalists, Tiffany Maher, Cyrus Spencer, Eliana Girard and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp have a background in ballet. I'm pretty sure this is a So You Think You Can Dance firs; next thing you know an Opera singer will be winning American Idol.
Another first was the change to the winners themselves, on this years Sytycd two winners were crowned: a male and female. Eliana Girard and Chehon Wesp-Tschopp were crowned the winners despite a season that included some scary injuries, meltdowns, shattered emotions, and at least one seriously hard to pronounce name. Even though they were the winners, all four of the finalists had ample screen-time to showcase their skills.

For the first time in So You Think You Can Dance history, America has crowned two winners. "I don't know why we've never done it before," judge Nigel Lythgoe told People after Tuesday's ninth-season finale of the Fox dance competition - where both a male and female were declared "America's favorite dancers." "It's really great that they win in their own sexes," said Lythgoe. And so, with the entire top 20 on hand, the season's final four - Cyrus Spencer, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, Eliana Girard and Tiffany Maher - waited to learn who would take home the titles. It all comes down to this! "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 9 aired its two-hour live finale on Tuesday night -- complete with a Carly Rae Jepsen performance -- and for the first time ever, two winners were crowned. This season was certainly an interesting one, given its new format without a results show, and because of the new rule about having a male and a female winner.
The female winner is Eliana Gerard. A ballet dancer from Florida, 21-year-old Gerard was Nigel Lythgoe's favorite female dancer this season, and she's already been asked to join Desmond Richardson's company after the show. She beat out Jazz dancer Tiffany Maher, also from Florida, to take the cash prize.
The male winner is Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, whose expertise is also ballet. When asked to showcase a specific piece from the season, Chehon chose to revisit his Argentine Tango with Anya.

The So You Think You Can Dance finale is always a bittersweet time. It's a joyous occasion for whoever wins, but...we're always so sad when the season is over! And though the Fox summer hit only aired once a week in its ninth season, the usual magic applied. Plus, now that all has been said and danced, as promised we've got two winners for a change! Which is great, because who could decide between Cyrus Spencer and Eliana Girard, or Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Tiffany Maher, or Cyrus and Tiffany, or...You get our drift. This finale kicked off, as usual, with the entire top 20 returning to dance a brand new group number, this one by Sonya Tayeh and Christopher Scott, so it was angsty and raw in...

Spoiler Alert: One guy and one girl have been named Ameriker’s Favourite Dance-ahs following a two-hour finale featuring guest performances by The Dragon House and Carly Rae Jespen, who sang “The Kiss.” The judges all chose a favorite routine for the dancers to perform again, and then each of the final four chose a reprise as well. A dramatic “hip-hop card trick” routine featuring finalist Cyrus, all-stars tWitch and Comfort, and choreographer Christopher Scott was the night’s standout, though I’m pretty sure no one was complaining about getting to see some phenomenal routines — like Eliana and Alex...

It kicked off with a whole slew of performances from the season's top 20 dancers, and also saw a performance from new singing sensation Carly Rae Jepsen, and more. All of the festivities went on for almost a whopping 2 hours. Then finally, host Kat Deeley, brought the final two girls Tiffany Maher and Eliana Girard to the stage to find out who was the winner for the girls. They watched a video montage for the two of them. Then Kat revealed that Eliana beat out Tiffany on the girl's side to take the crown. As we count the minutes until Eliana Girard or Tiffany Maher and Cyrus "Glitch" Spencer or Chehon Wespi-Tschopp are crowned "America's Favorite Dancer" on tonight's season finale of "So You Think You Can Dance," we thought it might be nice to pass the time in style.
And, by style, we mean all kinds of dance styles in all kinds of movies.
Some of our favorite all-stars and other "Sytycd" contestants have landed on the big screen over the years, and we're sure hoping some of the Season 9 gang will soon join them.
Seeing as Season 6 finalist Kathryn McCormick recently starred in the fourth installment of the "Step Up" franchise (alongside Stephen "tWitch" Boss and Phillip Chbeeb, natch), now seemed as good a time as any to take a look at how some of our favorite "Sytycd" stars are blowing up Hollywood. Ooh, I love Final Four night! The guy-guy and girl-girl numbers are always a blast, and a great chance for a side-by-side comparison before our final votes. Tonight we got a sexy burlesque featuring Tiffany, Eliana, and a great big pole that reminded Nigel Lythgoe of an outing he’d had with Randy Jackson. *Tmi, Nigel.* Meanwhile, Cyrus and Chehon and their seemingly painted-on torsos rippled their way through a difficult Sonya Tayeh routine filled with lifts. Plus: a stunning pas de deux, all-stars Will Wingfield, Allison Holker, and Alex Freaking Wong, and the “Glitch”/”tWitch” snap animation number we...

First the good news: "So You Think You Can Dance" has its final four dancers. Tiffany Maher, Eliana Girard, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Cyrus Spencer will all vie for America's votes in next Tuesday's (Sept. 11) performance finale.
The bad news: Witney Carson and Cole Horibe were automatically eliminated after receiving the fewest votes.
Even though America decided their fate after last week's performance show, each contestant had to perform three dances tonight: solo, paired with an All-Star and paired with a fellow finalist.
"Up All Night" star Christina Applegate returned as a guest judge -- and poor predictor. "Your foot was terrible in your pirouette," she said about his jazz routine with reigning champ Melanie Moore, "but I don't give a s***, because you're so good. And we'll see you next week."
Well, at least he'll be in the audience? As usual, Eliana received mostly unanimous raves from the judges, who...

So You Think Yo Can Dance 2012 eliminated Witney Carson & Cole Horibe tonight. Earlier tonight, the elimination show for "So You Think You Can Dance 2012," aired, and along with eliminating two more unlucky dancers, they also revealed the final 4 dancers who will compete for the title next week. Before they did that, all the dancers did their performances for next week's finale show. That went on for nearly two hours before host Kat Deeley finally revealed that Tiffany and Eliana made it through to the finals, meaning Witney got eliminated, and had to hit the exit door. Next, they took a look at her video montage before sending her on her way. After that, Kat revealed that Chehon and Cyrus made in through to the finals,so the karate boy Cole got eliminated tonight. Tears were streaming during So You Think You Can Dance Wednesday - even before two more dancers were sent home. The night turned emotional early on, when, with his Swiss parents in the audience for the first time, ballet dancer Cheyon Wespi-Tschopp took to the stage for his solo. "You have to remember these dancers are kids who have dreamed of doing this their whole life," guest judge Jesse Tyler Ferguson told People after Wednesday’s show. "They grew up far away from L.A. and then are transplanted here. I think it is overwhelming for them." The tears continued...

Perhaps it's his infectious enthusiasm or his clear passion for the show. Whatever it is, "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson keeps getting invited back as a guest judge on "So You Think You Can Dance."
This time, he was on hand to watch yet another powerful performance by all-star Allison Holker. This time, she was partnered with martial arts dancer Cole Horibe, who was asked to portray a sadistic and soulless character.
Cole perfectly captured the character, as he has in previous weeks, bringing the judges to their feet. It wouldn't be their last time on a night filled with strong performances. But it was this one that left Ferguson shaking and in need of a cocktail.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson — “weird and creepy and not a stalker,” he swears — just loves to come back and be a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance. The Modern Family star invented the Hot Jalapeno Bus (a new friend for Mary Murphy’s Hot Tamale Train), and poignantly called out Will’s personal-story junket (“Dance saved my life…”) as a reason why arts programs are so important to schools. He is, quite simply, the best.

The So You Think You Can Dance All-Stars returned to dance with the Top 10 contestants Wednesday night — and look who we have here! Season 7 standout Alex Freaking Wong, who exited early because of an Achilles tendon injury and had to sit out last summer, after being invited back as an All-Star, because he’d hurt the Other Achilles tendon. I would guess that Alex Wong’s abs positively loathe his Achilles tendons for denying them their rightful opportunity to glisten on national television whenever possible.

Heading into last night’s Mia Michaels tribute episode of So You Think You Can Dance, I was a little worried the judges would get so caught up in praising new renditions of the choreographer’s seven most memorable routines that their actual critiques would be reduced into something of a “You get a gold star! And you get a gold star! And you get a gold star!” mess.
