Forget the fear of flying. In the upcoming six-episode thriller “Nightsleeper,” the real danger awaits on a train travelling from Glasgow to London.
“When we were developing the show, we got all these experts in one room and asked: ‘How do you hack a train?’ An hour later, they said: ‘This is scary. We could easily do it now, between ourselves’,” says writer Nick Leather.
“We will do for trains what ‘Jaws’ did for sharks.”
Produced by Fremantle’s Euston Films and set to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in early 2024, “Nightsleeper” is directed by Jamie Magnus Stone and John Hayes.
While Abby Aysgarth (Alexandra Roach) at the U..K’s National Cyber Security Centre is trying her best to stop the train, some remaining passengers also join forces – including off-duty cop Joe Roag (“Peaky Blinders” actor Joe Cole). But they only have six hours and one satellite phone.

Following the box office success of Barbie, there’s been a lot of chatter about a potential sequel that would see Margot Robbie reprise the titular character role.
However, in a new interview, Robbie seems to shoot down any possibilities of a follow-up to the Greta Gerwig-directed film.
“I think we put everything into this one. We didn’t build it to be a trilogy or something,” Robbie told the Associated Press in an interview. “Greta put everything into this movie, so I can’t imagine what would be next.”
Barbie made over $1.4 billion at the box office and Robbie also reflected on the success of the film noting that “original films can still hit huge.”
“It doesn’t have to be a sequel or a prequel or a remake,” Robbie continued. “It can be totally original. It can still be big given the big budget to do that.

The BBC has released two first-look images from its upcoming real-time thriller ‘Nightsleeper.’
The story is about the hacking of a sleeper train travelling from Glasgow to London, and a government agency’s frantic efforts to intervene in the rapidly-escalating events onboard. Can two people who’ve never met, one on the train and one not, work together to save the lives of its disparate group of passengers as the Heart of Britain overnight service hurtles towards what might quite literally be its final destination?
Alexandra Roach (The Light in the Hall) and Joe Cole (Gangs of London) lead the cast of the suspense thriller, written by BAFTA award-winning writer Nick Leather (Murdered For Being Different) from Fremantle’s Euston Films, coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in early 2024.

In a world that has gifted Greta Gerwig the possibility to focus all her creative skills and talents on Barbie, the film becomes the pink dream we all hoped it would be. After months and months of their marketing campaign, which often felt like seeing a sea of pink slowly wash towards us, the creators behind Barbie were right to put everything they had into getting people into the theatres to see this on the big screen. Not only does Barbie reach something on a creative and entertaining level, but it touches deeper and lingers on the mind longer than any movie about a doll has the right to.

Come on, Barbie, let’s go party at my house when Greta Gerwig’s Barbie comes to 4K HD, Blu-ray, and DVD later this month! The physical release of 2023’s highest-grossing film hits shelves and online retailers on October 17, bringing laughter, existential crisis, and harsh lessons about social constructs to your living room!
Barbie converted the summer into a dance party when the musical comedy turned most theater tickets pink, earning $1.4B worldwide! The film presents the iconic blonde bombshell in ways we’ve never seen while taking Mattel to task for decades of questionable motivation concerning its portrayal of “toys for girls.” To Mattel’s credit, the legendary toy company leans into Gerwig and Noah Baumbach’s biting script, giving the Hollywood couple plenty of room to play in Barbie Land. Barbie is a unique film experience worth watching, and you can pre-order a copy of the film by clicking this link.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie might as well wear the Infinity Gauntlet because the pink-powered meta-comedy has defeated Avengers: Endgame as the best-selling movie ever at Alamo Drafthouse. The theater chain isn’t keen on releasing ticket sale totals for either film. However, Barbie is sitting pretty at the box office, with $596 million in North America and $1.343 billion worldwide. For those who want to compare, Avengers: Endgame snapped up $858 million in North America and $2.799 billion globally. While Barbie is bigger than Endgame at Alamo Drafthouse, the Marvel event film is still the second-biggest movie in history behind James Cameron’s Avatar.
A portion of Barbie’s popularity at Alamo Drafthouse could point toward the theater chain’s merchandise push, with Drafthouse cinemas offering limited edition items to guests, including lunch boxes, t-shirts, and sunglasses. Alamo Drafthouse says Barbie is responsible for selling more merch than any other film hosted by the boutique theater.

If Barbie remains on track – and there’s no reason to think it won’t – it could become the world’s top-earning film of the year. With enough time, Barbie could overtake Disney’s...

Come on Barbie, let's go party ... without ever having to leave our mojo dojo casa houses! Thanks to "Barbie" fever sweeping the globe (with a mutual boost provided by the #Barbenheimer phenomenon), the Greta Gerwig-directed and Margot Robbie-starring blockbuster drove its pink convertible straight to the top of the box office charts, smashing its way into the vaunted billion-dollar club and becoming one of the top 25 highest grossing movies ever. Not bad for a so-called "girl's movie" that practically every angry YouTuber predicted would be the biggest casualty of the "Go woke, go broke" narrative, eh?
While the film is still raking in the dough in theaters worldwide, Warner Bros. is already looking ahead to what will assuredly be a profitable and long-lasting shelf life once the film arrives on home media. That day is drawing nearer and nearer, as Variety reports that "Barbie" will debut on digital...

"Barbie" is officially a billion-dollar hit! The Greta Gerwig-directed movie hit theaters on July 21, sending fans into a bright-pink, over-the-top fantasyland where the most important person in the world is Barbie. Seventeen days after the film's release, Variety reported that "Barbie" surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, raking in $459 million in North America and $572 million internationally. Thus, it made Gerwig the first-ever solo woman filmmaker with a billion-dollar movie. "Barbie" is also the fastest Warner Bros. release (and eighth in the studio's 100-year history) to join the billion club, a record previously held by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," which accomplished the feat in 19 days.
For months, "Barbie"'s plot stayed mostly under wraps until Warner Bros. released the film's full-length trailer on May 25. In the nearly three-minute clip, all the Barbies - including star Margot Robbie's (the main Barbie) - blissfully enjoy their carefree lives in Barbie Land.

In addition to bringing Barbie to Max in the Fall, Deadline says Greta Gerwig’s money-printing film will cruise onto airlines in September. Imagine partying with Ken and Barbie at 30,000 feet! That’s a party!

Barbie (read our review Here) is currently dominating the box office, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if it goes on to rack up some Oscar nominations as well. It seems like a lock for categories like Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, etc. Variety recently spoke to production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer about the work they did to bring Barbie Land to the screen… and during the conversation, it was revealed that one of the locations in Barbieland was inspired by an iconic location from one of the most popular horror movies ever made: Weird Barbie’s house was inspired by the Bates house in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (watch it Here)!

Greta Gerwig had a clear vision for the story she wanted to tell with Barbie and rejected the idea of cutting a scene with Margot Robbie and an older woman on a bench.
When Barbie crosses over to the real world, she comes across an older woman sitting on a bench. As the women exchange glances, Barbie compliments the older woman and tells her she is beautiful. When it was time to edit the film, Gerwig came under pressure to cut that particular scene from the final cut but ultimately opted to keep it.
“I love that scene so much,” Gerwig told Rolling Stone. “And the older woman on the bench is the costume designer Ann Roth. She’s a legend. It’s a cul-de-sac of a moment, in a way — it doesn’t lead anywhere. And in early cuts, looking at the movie, it was suggested, ‘Well, you could cut it.

Barbie may be everything, and Ken is just Ken, but what about the people in the Real World they meet along the way? Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, based on the popular dolls, is a hyper-stylized take on the Mattel toys that sees the titular doll journey from Barbie Land to the Real World on a quest of self-discovery.
This movie definitely looks the part, but it wouldn’t be what it is without its incredible all-star cast full of award-winning actors and familiar faces. Here’s what you need to know about the Barbie characters and the actors who play them.

“Women… They have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts,” said Saoirse Ronan’s Jo March in Greta Gerwig’s dazzling Louisa May Alcott adaptation. “And they’ve got ambition, and they’ve got talent, as well as just beauty. And I’m so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for. I’m so sick of it!”
Who knows if writer-director Gerwig was already thinking of making a Barbie doll movie someday when she plucked the above quote out of Alcott’s novel, “Rose in Bloom,” and ingeniously plugged it into her inventive take on “Little Women,” concluding it with the punchline, “But I’m so lonely.”

Check out the brain on Barbie! Sure, she’s just a doll, but that doesn’t mean she has to be an airhead. Therein lies “Lady Bird” director Greta Gerwig’s inspired, 21st-century solution to bringing one of America’s most iconic playthings to life on the big screen. Combine that with the casting of Margot Robbie in the title role, and “Barbie” is already starting out on the right, perfectly arched foot. So what if this high-concept comedy falls a bit flat in the final stretch?
Barbie’s strength as a brand comes from her aspirational appeal. While some have rightly criticized the doll for setting unrealistic beauty standards, Barbie also showed girls they can do and be anything, as different models have portrayed her as president, a rocket scientist, even trans. You know who else sets unrealistic beauty standards? Movie stars. Like Barbie, they serve as role models,...

Actress-producer Margot Robbie has given an insight into what makes Barbie land and said that women Barbies run everything there. Ask her about what drew her to the film, she said: “Barbie is such a huge and globally recognised brand with so much nostalgic connection for people. Making a Barbie movie was an amazing opportunity, one we thought we could do something really special with if we could approach it in an unexpected, surprising and clever way.”
“Like Greta has said, it was also terrifying! We knew it was a lot to take on, as audiences probably have a preconceived notion of how they think and feel about Barbie, whether good or bad. So, that presented a big challenge, but we were up for the challenge.”

Mumbai, July 16 (Ians) Hollywood star Ryan Gosling spoke about playing iconic Ken in the upcoming film ‘Barbie’ and said that his character was created to observe the “awesomeness” that Margot Robbie’s role of Barbie is.
Talking about essaying this iconic character, Gosling says: “My Ken was created to just observe the awesomeness that is Barbie, and there’s even a line in the film when he says he only exists within the warmth of Barbie’s gaze. He has no identity of his own, so he’s in a kind of existential hell. But he’s given a job, which is ‘beach’. And he’s not sure what that job is specifically, but he really wants to be good at it.”

Greta Gerwig was planning to work with Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan again in the Barbie movie but that ultimately didn’t pan out.
The filmmaker opened up about wanting Chalamet and Ronan to cameo in the Margot Robbie-starring film after working with both of them in Lady Bird and Little Women.
“Well, it was always going to have to be a sort of smaller thing because [Saoirse] was actually producing at the time, which I am so proud of her for. And of course, it’s brilliant. But it was going to be a specialty cameo,” Gerwig told CinemaBlend in a recent interview. “I was also going to do a specialty cameo with Timmy, and both of them couldn’t do it and I was so annoyed. But I love them so much.”

Like most films, Barbie‘s journey to the silver screen is a tricky bit of Hollywood back-and-forth. Initially, Sony owned the rights to the blonde bombshell’s silver-screen antics, but that venture stalled out after several missteps. There was a time when Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway could have been behind the wheel of Barbie’s pink convertible. Still, they exited the project when bringing the Mattel icon to theaters proved too exhausting. Schumer said she fled Barbie after thinking the script wasn’t “feminist and cool” enough. She’s just one of many who found Sony’s approach to the material needing more refinement. Enter Diablo Cody, who 2018 told ScreenCrush she left the project because she “was literally incapable of turning in a ‘Barbie’ draft. God knows I tried.”
It’s been several years since Cody’s comments, and now she’s opening up to GQ magazine about why...

The hottest film event of the summer is fast approaching! That’s right, folks! Two film industry titans, Barbie and Oppenheimer, will soon battle it out for box office supremacy! Before you bet on who wins the top spot on the charts, see what analysts predict for the July 21-23 weekend.
Tracking for both films is interesting, to say the least. Great Gerwig‘s Barbie could open to a peppy $70 million-$80 million, with an opportunity to make more. Warner Bros, who’s licking its wounds after The Flash underperformed, is holding out for $60M, just to be cautious.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie introduces several Barbie and Ken variants, each with a different personality, background, and status in a bizarre world of partying, shopping, beachside brawls, and feeble attempts at flirtation. The footage piles on the strange as Barbie and Ken seemingly travel to the real world, where everything becomes more unhinged than it was before.

When one thinks of Barbie, chances are good that you also think of the colour pink. The upcoming Barbie movie will bring the beloved plastic icon into the real world, but the production used so much pink paint to bring Barbie Land to life that it caused an international shortage.
While speaking with Architectural Digest, Barbie production designer Sarah Greenwood confirmed that there was an international shortage of the pink shade of Rosco paint. “The world ran out of pink,” Greenwood laughed. Barbie director Greta Gerwig tried to avoid using CGI whenever possible, aiming for what she called “authentic artificiality.” The production used hand-painted backdrops instead of CGI. “Everything needed to be tactile, because toys are, above all, things you touch,” Gerwig said.

Ryan Gosling stars opposite Margot Robbie in Barbie playing Ken. The actor faced criticism after the trailer was released with claims he was “too old” to play the character. Now Gosling is responding to the ageist remarks in a new interview and has a solution for those people not vibing with his Ken.
“I would say, you know, if people don’t want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with,” he said during an interview with GQ.
Gosling is referring to director Greta Gerwig casting multiple actors in different versions of Ken like Simu Liu, John Cena and Ncuti Gatwa.
He continued, “It is funny, this kind of clutching-your-pearls idea of, like, #notmyken. Like you ever thought about Ken before this? And everyone was fine with that, for him to have a job that is nothing. But suddenly, it’s like, ‘No, we’ve...

The official trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures’ most buzzed-about summer movie, Barbie, promises this movie’s for those who love Barbie – and for those who hate the doll. And if you were on the fence about paying for a ticket to see writer/director Greta Gerwig’s twisted take on the popular doll line, the trailer should be the deciding factor. The trailer provides a glimpse of what’s in store once the dolls leave their perfect world and discover what it’s like to live in the real world. Cue an full-on existential crisis.
The cast is led by Oscar nominees Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken. America Ferrera (Superstore), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War), Issa Rae (Insecure), Rhea Perlman (I’ll See You in My Dreams), and Will Ferrell (the Anchorman films) also star.

Arguably the best look yet at “Barbie” was released Thursday by Warner Bros. The new trailer for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film mixes goofy comedy with some existential conflict while also showcasing the star turns from leads Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
The “Barbie” main trailer opens with the title hero (Robbie) having yet another “best day ever” and a blowout party that gets interrupted when Barbie asks her friends if they ever think about dying. The cracks in her happy facade continue from there before Barbie and Ken (Gosling) are forced to go to the “real world” to find out the “truth about the universe.” Once in reality, Barbie and Ken are faced with confrontation and disinterest as they seemingly must work to escape the clutches of a corporate overlord (played by Will Ferrell). Think “Elf” meets “Lady Bird” meets “The Lego Movie.”

To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in an ideal place unless you have a full-on existential crisis. In today’s new Barbie trailer, Margot Robbie’s blonde bombshell questions death, the limits of her world, and whether or not to red pill her way into a world where she’s nothing more than a child’s plaything. It’s clear that the film’s director, Greta Gerwig, is delivering something unexpected with the new Barbie movie, and I could not be more excited!

Warner Bros. is giving audiences a closer look at “Barbie” in a new official trailer. While the story of the film has been mostly kept under wraps, the new trailer teases what Greta Gerwig’s summer tentpole is all about, as Barbie and Ken are set to officially enter the real world on July 21.
Fatigued of their days in Barbieland (where everyone is seemingly also named Barbie and Ken), Margot Robbie’s Barbie and Ryan Gosling’s Ken venture out beyond the borders of their homeland. The new footage shows Barbie and Ken exploring the modern world, which is quite different from the safe haven of their pink-coded, plastic lifestyle. While on Venice Beach, Barbie punches a man who slaps her butt, and she and Ken end up posing with some LAPD mugshots. Meanwhile, people in our world are starting to freak out that a real-life Barbie is walking the streets of L.

There's been much discussion about the ridiculously stacked cast of Greta Gerwig's "Barbie," including the reveal that John Cena nabbed his role playing a mermaid in the film during the production of "Fast X." While Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are playing the versions of Barbie and Ken that audiences are most familiar with, they're joined by an impressively diverse roster of other Barbies and Kens who all share one thing in common: Barbie energy.
During a recent interview with Vogue Magazine, Robbie discussed what exactly it takes to be considered a Barbie Girl, and what it means to have "Barbie energy." The answer is not bleach-blonde hair and a penchant for pink, but a cheerful disposition so electric and so contagious that a person radiates from the inside out. Robbie gave an example of an actor who exudes Barbie energy, naming "Wonder Woman" herself, Gal Gadot, as a hopeful Barbie.

The first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” showcased a candy-coated pink world that perfectly mimicked the aesthetic everyone associates with America’s favorite doll. Now, in a new interview for Vogue, the cast and director of the upcoming “Barbie” discussed how that look came together.
When the film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling entered production the cast and crew regularly assembled every Sunday morning to watch a movie that would be referenced, in some way, in the film for what was dubbed “movie church,” according to the interview.
According to Vogue, Gerwig foresaw “Barbie” being akin to an Old Hollywood movie musical. Specifically cited is the 1948 feature “The Red Shoes,” directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and Jacques Demy’s 1964 musical “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.” Interestingly, Demy’s film is also cited as an influence on Damien Chazelle’s musical “La La Land.”

It was a chance maybe to [say], ‘Hey, would you guys be willing to have me if I could do something?’” The actor said that he pitched himself directly to Margot Robbie, saying that he would “pretty much do whatever you guys need.” When they asked him if he wanted to be a merman, he agreed immediately.

The trailer for “Barbie” has sparked a flurry of excitement for the increasingly-intriguing movie from Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach. The movie is generating a lot of buzz ahead of its July 21 release later this year (the same day as Christopher Nolan‘s “Oppenheimer”) although little is known of it in the way of plot. The official IMDb synopsis reads: “To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken.”
What we do know, however, is how astounding the cast is. Margot Robbie leads the line as Barbie while Ryan Gosling stars opposite her as Ken. Then, there are plenty of other variations of Barbies and Kens. Here’s a run down.

We're less than three months out from the most colorful film of the summer: "Barbie," led by the talents of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, wherein Greta Gerwig ("Lady Bird") delivers a feminist take on the iconic Mattel fashion doll, off an original script she co-wrote with filmmaker partner Noah Baumbach ("Marriage Story"). Despite the sheen of corporate synergy all over it, "Barbie" is somehow one of the most highly-awaited movies of 2023.
It doesn't hurt that "Barbie" has an absolutely stacked ensemble cast. Kate McKinnon ("SNL"), Issa Rae ("Insecure"), Hari Nef ("Transparent"), Alexandra Shipp ("Straight Outta Compton"), Emma Mackey ("Sex Education"), Sharon Rooney ("My Mad Fat Diary"), singer Dua Lipa, Nicola Coughlan ("Derry Girls"), Ana Cruz Kayne ("Little Women"), and Ritu Arya are all playing different kinds of Barbie, in addition to Robbie as main Barbie.
And alongside Gosling as Ken, there's Simu Liu ("Shang-Chi and the Legend of the...

The new footage comes on the heels of a trailer and character posters that were revealed earlier this month.
The foursome were interviewed briefly on stage by Warner Bros. chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.
