Gus Kenworthy is the latest Olympian to throw his name into the floor ring for “Dancing with the Stars.” The freestyle skier tells Us Weekly he “would love” to do the show and has been pushing for a spot since last year.
“I would love to,” Kenworthy tells the magazine. “I had been lobbying to try and be on it … last year and really wanted to be, and then it didn’t work out, but I was told that there was interest on their end. So I was definitely hoping that maybe after this Olympics, it’d be a possibility.”
Kenworthy, who attended the Oscars on Sunday, won silver in men’s ski slopestyle in Sochi, but finished in 12th place in PyeongChang while competing with a hematoma on his hip and a broken thumb. In October 2015, he came out as gay — the first action sports athlete to do so...

As the 2018 Winter Olympics roll on, American figure skaters have managed some moments of glory. In the team competition, strong performances from Adam Rippon and ice dancing pair Maia and Alex Shibutani helped the Us earn a bronze medal.
Beyond their shared prowess on the ice, Rippon and the so-called "ShibSibs" share something else in common: They both love YouTube. Rippon has spoken of his love for the world's top video site, and the ShibSibs run their own channel, on which they have more than 75,000 subscribers.
The ShibSibs channel, recently highlighted in a Slate piece, looks like a typical vlog. The Shibutanis share updates from tournaments and post "get ready with me" videos. Sometimes, they collaborate with other channels, such as Wong Fu Productions.
Rippon, on the other hand, doesn't have his own channel, but browsing YouTube is one of his favorite leisure activities. “I usually kind of get lost in the abyss of YouTube,...

The 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea officially begin with the opening ceremony on Friday night, February 8, launching two weeks of competition that will showcase the world’s best skaters, skiers, snowboarders, hockey players and more. But of course the most important question is, how well can they cha cha?
“Dancing with the Stars” returns on April 30 for its 26th season, but it will be an irregular competition in more ways than one. First, the season will last only 4 weeks, far shorter than the 10 to 12 weeks we usually get. Second, the season will consist entirely of athletes, which means the show will be well positioned to recruit some Olympians fresh off their glorious victories — or perhaps their tragic defeats. And this wouldn’t be the first time. Ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White both competed on “DWTS” (season 18) immediately after winning gold medals in the 2014 Winter Olympics in...
