Lauv would rather take a major risk than talk himself down from his own feelings on his new single “Potential.” The record finds the pop singer and songwriter testing the waters to see if a long-term friendship could actually hold something more below the surface, singing: “We’ve been friends for years / And you were always here / Through my heartbreak tears / And none of them compare to you / Never told you why / Always held inside / No more tears to cry / I’m not afraid.”

The Oscar-frontrunning Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” was the big winner at Asifa-Hollywood’s 51st Annie Awards (held February 17 at UCLA’s Royce Hall), grabbing seven awards, topped by best animated feature. As a 66 percent Oscar predictor, the Annie win bodes well for Sony and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The other “Spider-Verse” awards were for FX, character design, direction, music, production design, and editorial.
The Oscar-nominated dark horse, “Robot Dreams” (Neon), from Pablo Berger, won best independent feature, and “War Is Over! Inspired by the Music of John & Yoko” (ElectroLeague) took best short. The prestige short got a boost in its race for the Oscar. It’s directed by Pixar alum Dave Mullins and executive produced by Sean Ono Lennon, in partnership with Peter Jackson and his Wētā FX Limited animation team.

Singer-songwriter Ari Staprans Leff, known by his stage name Lauv, performed at Day 1 of the multi-genre music festival Lollapalooza India at Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai on Saturday. The unusual surprise for the fans at the pit came in the form of singer-songwriter Armaan Malik.
The ‘Bol Do Na Zara’ hitmaker made a surprise appearance on the stage during Lauv’s performance on the song ‘I’m So Tired’ as the duo performed in unison.
Lauv took to the BudX stage around 6:45 pm. As the sun went down painting the Mumbai skyline in a peach hue. He entered the stage donning a glittery helmet, kicking off the set right on time and, not even a delay of a minute.

Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” is set to dominate the original song race. Oscar voters will likely pick all three contenders from the blockbuster for the original song shortlist: Billie Eilish’s tear-inducing ballad “What Was I Made For,” Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” and Ryan Gosling’s pitiful song of feeling inadequate “I’m Just Ken.”
Mark Ronson and songwriting partner Andrew Wyatt wrote the latter two, while Eilish partnered with brother Finneas on her tune. However, with only two nominations allowed in this category, it will be left to the music branch to decide which two they pick.
Lenny Kravitz eyes a spot on the list with “Road to Freedom,” a song he penned for George C. Wolfe’s “Rustin.” The soulful song’s horns and trombones are key to this composition, which accompanies the film’s end credits.

Lauv is back with a shimmering new lovestruck tune, “Love U Like That.”
The tender, atmospheric song finds Lauv fully throwing caution — and other peoples’ opinions — to the wind and embracing the whirlwind early days of a relationship: “Really old habits, really old baggage/Just walked away into your madness, onto your mattress,” he sings. But as the song develops, the feelings become more than just carnal, with Lauv singing in a final chorus, “Used to judge myself now I don’t care cause/Hey, I love you like that.

(November 25, 202) – Today, Haitian-Canadian LGBTQ+ artist Tedy releases his EP Manic Party (listen here). Marking the culmination of an incredible year of artistic and personal growth, Manic Party is a portrait of the singer songwriter on the rise. “This album very much came out of the pandemic and spending time focusing on me and my own journey” Tedy says. “I wanted people to get to know me, the real me, and come along for the ride.”
With rich production from Big Taste and Dallas K, Manic Party is a sonically and emotionally rich listening experience. The producers “really tried to understand the process of what I was going through emotionally and musically and helped me create a sound to tell my own story” says Tedy. “It felt so affirming the entire time. They totally put in the work to get me to where I needed to be.”

Lauv broke through in the late 2010s with “I Like Me Better,” a crushed-out electropop song with spare instrumentation and a hushed vocal that shrouded his confessions of vulnerability in extreme-close-up intimacy. Since the release of that single, the singer-songwriter—real name Ari Leff—has established himself as a front-line reporter for emotional twentysomethings, chronicling his loves, losses, drugs, and dreams.
All 4 Nothing, Lauv’s second album, continues that path with tracks that hunger for a return to childlike wonder while being steeped in the doings of adulthood. Lauv has...

For Lauv, working on healing his inner child through therapy and meditation wasn’t enough – he needed to hop in a time machine and head back to 2005 for some on-the-ground remedying. In the music video for his latest single “Kids Are Born Stars,” a plucky pop track about the type of untarnished confidence that often doesn’t last past childhood, the singer and songwriter pays his younger self a wholesome, reassuring visit from the future.

When it comes to Hayley Kiyoko, there are two important facts you need to know: She’s gay and she’s a proud member of Bachelor Nation. With the self-directed new video for her catchy new single “For the Girls,” Kiyoko imagines what a lesbian Bachelorette would look like. It’s a concept she can’t believe she didn’t try sooner.
“I love The Bachelor franchise. Honestly, reality TV is what gets me through everyday stress,” Kiyoko tells Rolling Stone while en route to the White House’s Aapi Heritage Month festivities.

Lauv is hella in love — we’re kinda jealous. On Thursday, the singer released the music video for his new single “All 4 Nothing (I’m So in Love)” — and it features a cameo from his girlfriend Sophie Cates, who co-wrote the track.
Accompanied by the sounds of the ocean, Lauv — complete with lime green hair and a full suit — expresses how the feelings of love have completely taken over.
“Ever since I played the album for my friend on his boat, I fell in love with the concept of water...

Lollapalooza, one of the biggest music festivals in the U.S., is coming up fast, following up hip-hop fest Rolling Loud Miami as one of the music festivals making their big summer comeback. While everyone has already started to pack some bags and coordinate a plan (like we’ve said before, planning is key), it doesn’t come without a hint of caution this year.
The annual fest comes after Lollapalooza postponed the 2020 event due to Covid-19, missing a year in Chicago’s Grant Park for the first time since...

Earlier this year, vaultboy set himself a challenge: Write a song a day and share the results on TikTok. He had a knack for the negative; one of his first-ever TikTok posts was tagged “potential breakup song but more sad,” and he followed that with covers of various mega-hits that were alternately “hella sad” or “kinda sad.” But 12 days into his onslaught of songwriting in January, vaultboy decided to throw a snippet of a happy track on the app for the first time. Sort of — “everything sucks” is the opening line.

St. Vincent, Haim, and Charli Xcx are set to headline the 2021 All Things Go Music Festival, which will take place October 16th at a new location, Merriweather Post Pavilion outside of Washington, D.C.
The one-day festival will take place over two stages, while the move to Merriweather Post Pavilion will allow for a significantly bigger audience (previous installments of All Things Go were held at the much smaller Union Market in D.C.). The festival’s lineup — which, as always, predominately features female artists — also boasts Lauv, Girl in Red,...

“Submit your music.” I’m convinced this is the key factor behind Sony Music’s $430 million decision to acquire indie record company Awal and its sister firm Kobalt Neighbouring Rights on Monday.
“Submit your music” is a simple button on Awal’s homepage — but it’s also an invitation for DIY artists to enter a sophisticated, if unforgiving, review system.
Awal, which bills itself as an alternative to a traditional record deal, has been owned by music company Kobalt since 2011, working with artists like Finneas, Lauv, and Madison Beer. Yet...

Celine Dion has released a music video for her recent single “Imperfections.” Directed by Gabriel Coutu-Dumont and produced by Janicke Morissette, the evocative video is shot entirely in black and white, with Dion taking over the screen in various gowns and high-end ensembles.
The clip has a glamorous, behind-the-scenes Hollywood aesthetic, which is juxtaposed with the lyrics as Dion reflects on self-criticism, noting, “I got my own imperfections.”

While the early summer isn’t usually the best time to find high temperatures, we’ve found a new single that can only be described as “hot.” The video for “The Other,” a new single from New York City based pop artist Lauv, birth name Ari Leff, premiered last week on YouTube channel Mr.SuicideSheep and in the four days […]
