Finally, some movement on the Abigail murder mystery!
According to spoilers for Days of Our Lives during the week of 7-18-22, Salem's most well-known hypnotherapist will hypnotize Lucas to help him remember the night of Abigail's murder.
Lucas' experience is supposed to leave him with more questions than answers, but it's a good bet it'll prove his innocence, too.
If only Lucas' hypnosis had happened before Sami left town, she could at least be relieved that her almost-husband wasn't a murderer too!
Maybe he'll redeem himself enough for her to someday return to Salem and at least repair their friendship.

In any case, clips from the spoiler video suggest that Lucas witnessed the murder rather than doing it himself. He might have even tried to stop it, which could explain the cut on his hand.

It was a sad day as Eli and Lani, Salem's only persons of color super couple, left town.
Yes, Salem still has Abe and Paulina, but I don't put them on the same level as #Elani. These two fought through lies, Gabi's manipulations, Kristen's drama, and the loss of a child to finally end up together.
Admittedly, Lani and Eli haven't always been my favorite couple. I enjoyed Eli from the moment he hit town, but Lani was another story. Her character was questionable at best when she first arrived in Salem. Remember her icky hookup with JJ?
But she's developed into a heroine we could root for and half of a happy power couple that's been fun to watch.
That's what makes it so difficult to lose them. They had careers. They had children. They had extended family that they loved but could make them crazy. But if the...

Hurricane Sami is back!
She may be hobbling around on crutches, but she's still a formidable force, especially when she's mad.
And since she's going to catch her ex kissing the sister she's always hated on Days of Our Lives during the week of 6-27-22, all bets are off.
Theoretically, Sami shouldn't care.
She and Ej called it quits months ago, and she's engaged to Lucas, her steadfast friend and sometimes lover for almost three decades!
View Slideshow: Days of Our Lives Classic Couple Spotlight: Lucas and Sami
But Sami is possessive, and she and Ej have had a tumultuous and passionate relationship, so in Sami's mind, he's hers.
Belle is about the worst person for him to "stray" with, too. Sami and Belle's rivalry goes back to Belle's birth. Sami kidnapped her baby half-sister and tried to sell her on the black market, something which Belle never lets her forget.

The truth hurts sometimes.
Only the people who cause trouble with lies and manipulations suffer the consequences when everything blows up in an ideal world.
But that isn't the way it works, especially not on a soap. So on Days of Our Lives during the week of 1-11-21, the innocent will suffer just as much as the guilty.
According to the official Days of Our Lives spoiler video, both Abigail and Claire will discover devastating truths.
Claire cries in Belle's arms that she really loved Charlie, while Abigail angrily confronts Chad, who begs for the couple to get past what happened between him and Gwen.
It's hard not to feel sorry for Claire. She overcame her own violently jealous impulses, put her life back together, and fell hard for what seemed to be a guy who understood her tormented past... only for him to turn out to be a rapist and kidnapper.

In the blink of an eye, Gabi and Rafe left Salem.
These characters evaporated along with their storylines, which is convenient for the people who didn't want to deal with them anymore, but wasn't good writing.
The ultra-quick ending for Gabi and Rafe was an especially disappointing moment during a dismal set of episodes on Days of Our Lives during the week of 8-24-20.
One of the most frustrating things about this story is that it was such a waste of A Martinez's talents.
Eduardo could be an interesting character. Rafe has always resented that his father disappeared for 25 years, while Gabi has idolized him in the past, and of course he fathered Paige with Eve while absent from his other family's life.
And with Eve having gone off the rails as well as having refused his call on the anniversary of Paige's death, this was a perfect time...

Deadline reported on Monday, August 24, that “Days of Our Lives” will be getting one familiar face back on the airwaves: Alison Sweeney will be making a comeback to her iconic role as Sami Brady. So that’s one silver lining at least to the cloud of cast members whose ousters have been announced over the course of the year.
She’ll start appearing in late 2020 and will stick around for most of 2021. She originally joined the cast of the NBC soap opera in 1993 when Sami, the daughter of classic characters Roman Brady and Marlena Evans, was aged into her teenage years. After years as a troublemaker on the show she evolved into a heroine and a mother in her own right. Her on-screen son Will Horton (Chandler Massey) became one of the most prominent and long-running gay characters in daytime history.

Viewers will be seeing more of Sami Brady on NBC’s Days Of Our Lives. Alison Sweeney is set to reprise her role as the fan-favorite troublemaker when the show resumes taping next month, producer Corday Productions revealed to Deadline.
Since she left Days Of Our Lives as a full-time cast member in 2014 after 21 years, Sweeney has been coming back for a short arc every year since 2017. She filmed her most recent one before the coronavirus-related production shutdown; it started airing in mid-July and will wrap in late September.
Under the new deal, she will appear in fresh Days Of Our Lives episodes, beginning in late 2020, though most of 2021. She will be a part of an emotional storyline centered around family and Sami’s recently SORASed daughter Allie Horton, played by Lindsay Arnold.

Exclusive: Another key cast member is leaving Days of Our Lives. Victoria Konefal will not continue on NBC’s long-running daytime drama when it resumes production in the fall. While she will no longer be a full-time cast member, Konefal, who plays Ciara Brady on the show, could make guest appearances in the future.
Speculation that Konefal may be leaving surfaced earlier this month following the news that Kristian Alfonso, who plays her mom on the show, is exiting Days Of Our Lives after 37 years. Konefal confirmed her departure in a statement to Deadline. According to sources, the departure is not related to Alfonso’s exit. Here is Konefal’s statement:
I cherish every moment I have spent working on Days of Our Lives. It is an honor and a privilege to work in an environment filled with so much talent and passion in every direction. The experience and knowledge...

Epic love stories used to be Days of Our Lives' backbone, and Steve and Kayla were one of the best.
They still are -- even now, when Kayla finds herself torn between two great loves.
On Days of Our Lives during the week of 4-13-20, Kayla struggled to make a decision between her old and new loves, making for some of the most riveting drama the soap has had in a while.
Many of the love triangles on Days of Our Lives are heavy handed and redundant. Often the choice is between a bad guy that the character thinks is a good guy and the love of her life.
That's irritating. Viewers don't like being told the ending in advance or which ship to root for.
The Justin/Kayla/Steve triangle is different, though. This is the kind of triangle that Days of Our Lives used to excel at...

Finally!
Ever since the time jump, Days of Our Lives has alluded to off-screen events, leaving viewers guessing as to what happened.
But on Days of Our Lives during the week of 1-20-20, we're going to be let in on the secret as characters discuss what's happened.
While some viewers might prefer to go back in time permanently, the time jump -- and its tragic events -- are here to stay.
However, according to the spoiler video, the characters will have flashbacks of one awful night when everything changed.
The video goes by fast but contains scenes of Sarah in labor, Haley at the bottom of the hospital stairs, and Will driving a car shortly before Adrienne honks and swerves.
It also promises to answer viewer questions about how Haley and Adrienne died.
The video doesn't give many hints, so you'll have to tune in to find out what went down.

For many viewers, the annual Horton family Christmas is as important as their real-life Christmas celebrations.
The Horton tree trimming, the Christmas miracles, and the focus on family and love makes it feel like we're spending the holiday with close friends.
Unfortunately, though, Christmas felt like an afterthought on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-23-19, leaving many long-time viewers disappointed.
Christmas Eve came close to being the kind of family story that viewers long for, but it didn't quite make it.
Some of the elements were there.
JJ got out of the hospital just in time to join the family, Julie worried that the party would be a flop only to learn that everyone was coming after all, and Jack and Jennifer were excited to put their ornaments side by side on the tree for the first time in years.

No one who lives in a soap city is immune to tragedy.
Since the time jump, Salem has been an especially tragic place to live. Haley and Adrienne are dead, Will is in prison, and Xander has been raising Eric's baby.
But on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-2-19, the sudser took the tragedy to new heights--and some of it was unnecessary.
JJ's storyline is a prime example.
Casey Moss is a brilliant actor who quite frankly deserves better material than he is getting.
He is able to sell viewers on JJ's grief and pain turning him into a killer even though the entire thing is out of character nonsense that also makes a mockery out of the issue of addiction.
There are so many problems with this story that it's hard to know where to begin.

Days of Our Lives isn't letting the Thanksgiving holiday interfere with the drama.
As usual, the soap gets preempted on Thanksgiving and on Black Friday, which means the sudser has to stuff extra turmoil into the truncated week.
Judging from the spoilers, Days of Our Lives will not disappoint during the week of 11-25-19, offering viewers an explosive reveal before the brief hiatus.
Sarah's secret is finally out, according to the spoiler video.
Not only does that mean that Xander and Nicole can finally stop fighting about whether Nicole should tell Eric the truth, but that there's a custody battle in Days of Our Lives' future.
Xander considers himself baby Mickey's dad, but the video depicts Eric barging in and demanding that Sarah bar Xander from the baby's life.
Eric is the biological father and that can be proven easily enough, but that doesn't mean he can just throw his weight around without consequences.

JJ is back on drugs.

After the historic time jump, Days of Our Lives featured a bunch of brokenhearted Salemites during the week of 11-11-19. The missing year must have been a terrible one for our favorite characters.
The best part of the time jump is the air of mystery.

The acting on Days of Our Lives has been amazing despite the stories leaving something to be desired.
It's hard to know what to think when the hour flies by even though half the stories are reruns that weren't great the first time.
Days of Our Lives ended the week of 11-4-19 with the shocking reveal that an entire year had passed -- a first in soap opera history. The jury is still out on whether it will help fix anything.

Julie lapsed into a coma after her outing at Doug's Place, while Gabi struggled to accept that Stefan was gone.
This was a classic soap dilemma, full of high emotion that tugged at viewers' heartstrings. Even in the age of Dr. Rolf and his miracle drug, there was nothing anyone could do for Stefan, and his heart seemed like Julie's only hope of survival.
But when the Hortons sent one person after another to talk to Gabi on Days of Our Lives during the week of 10-7-19, it seemed like, for lack of a better word, overkill.
The Hortons were desperate for Stefan's heart, so desperate that when they heard it might be a match for Julie, they collectively lost their compassion.

Salem is no stranger to tragedy. People get hurt, killed, and die on a regular basis, often senselessly.
And if you're planning on watch Days of Our Lives during the week of 9-30-2019, you might want to grab your tissues.

First, a grief-stricken Doug tells Eli and Lani that Julie is gone while an unresponsive Julie sits slumped over in a chair.
Then Lani demands Vivian drop her weapon. When Vivian doesn't comply, Lani shoots... and Stefan falls over.

Jennifer was kidnapped by a jilted date.
This is the second time Jennifer dumped someone she barely knew to reconcile with an ex, only to get violently attacked by her former date.
Back in 2014, Liam held Jennifer and Nicole hostage at the Horton Cabin after she broke things off to reconcile with Daniel. And on Days of Our Lives during the week of 9-16-19, another broken-hearted doctor held her hostage to stop her from reconciling with Jack.
It's annoying when Days of Our Lives repeats the same stories over and over, especially when they don't change many of the details.
Liam was the hospital pharmaceutical rep, who went nuts when Jennifer dumped him for Daniel. Henry Shah is a doctor who went nuts because Jennifer dumped him for Jack.
In both cases, the character was exceedingly minor and mainly interacted with Jennifer before suddenly snapping and stalking her.

Am I the only one who feels sorry for Henry Shah?
Dropping your new beau for a second chance with your ex seems to be a thing in Salem, but Jennifer took that to a whole new level!
On Days of Our Lives during the week of 7-22-19, Henry took another chance on Jennifer after telling her he didn't want to be her consolation prize, only to realize that he would never be able to compete with her hope that Jack would come back to his senses.
The entire idea of Jennifer moving on with Henry was ridiculous to begin with, but Henry became likable when he stood up for himself with Jennifer.
It was refreshing for a character to have enough self-respect to state unequivocally that he would not be someone's guy-in-between-loves and to move on once it became apparent that Jennifer wasn't nearly as into him as she said.

It was refreshing for a character to have enough self-respect to state unequivocally that he would not be someone's guy-in-between-loves and to move on once it became apparent that Jennifer wasn't nearly as into him as she said.

Last year’s Daytime Emmy race for Best Younger Actor ended in an upset when Rome Flynn (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) defeated the overwhelming favorite, Casey Moss (“Days of Our Lives”). Will this year’s race be just as surprising? There’s only one returning nominee in the category (“Days” star Lucas Adams), who is joined by four newcomers. It’s the only acting race this year guaranteed to crown a first-time winner. So who’s out front?
The Daytime Emmys are unique in that the nominees and winners are both decided in a single round of voting during which blue ribbon panels viewed sample performance reels from the nominees. The academy made those reels available to the press, so here’s the scoop on all the Younger Actor contenders at this year’s kudos so you can make informed predictions here in our predictions center before this weekend’s show.

I was thrilled when Days of our Lives was announcing that Jack was returning, and the idea of Jj finally getting a love interest (and a storyline!) excited me too.
To make it even sweeter, Days appeared to be returning to its roots with a topical story about immigration issues.
Those three pieces of good news were a recipe for returning Days to must-see status. But the writers have got a lot wrong, and on Days of Our Lives during the week of 4-8-19, the story spiraled into such silly territory that it defeated its own purpose.
To be clear, it wasn't All bad. Matthew Ashford, Melissa Reeves, and Casey Moss are all bringing their A-game to what they've gotten here, and these talented actors are a joy to watch no matter what they're doing.
Jj made one last effort to get through to the man who was once his father,...

There are seven acting categories for TV dramas at the Daytime Emmys, and when you look at the pre-nominations they could all go to a past Emmy champ … except for one. Best Younger Actor is the only field this year where every single contender would be a first-time winner. Most of them would even be first-time nominees. So who will win this wide-open contest?
Last year’s winner, Rome Flynn (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), left his show in 2017, so he’s out. Also absent from the list is the actor we thought would win last year, Casey Moss (“Days of Our Lives”), even though he is still on the show and still of age. Ditto child actor Hudson West (“General Hospital”), who isn’t on the pre-nominations list either despite still being featured on his series.

Emmys Schmemmys. Gold Derby’s forum posters have been naming their favorite daytime dramas and performances since 2003, and according to their 16th Annual Goldie Awards, “Days of Our Lives” was the best drama series of the year. But some of the best performances of 2018 aren’t in the running at the Daytime Emmys, whose nominations will be announced on March 20. Scroll down to see our posters’ complete list of winners.
“Days” has been our users’ choice for Best Drama Series more than any other soap. It has prevailed seven times. “The Young and the Restless” was our winner five times. The now defunct “One Life to Live” prevailed twice. “General Hospital” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” won once apiece. But while “Days” has a good chance of winning at the Emmys too — it’s the defending champion after all — some of the best performances from the show weren’t even pre-nominated.

Nothing quite compares with the pain of being betrayed by someone you love.
Betrayals have been a source of drama since Shakespeare's Iago poisoned Othello's mind, if not before. When a betrayal storyline is done well, broken-hearted characters are left to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives, making for compelling drama.
Jack's betrayal of Jj set off a chain reaction in which Haley lashed out at Jj for not keeping her secret, Melinda disowned Haley for ruining her career, and the town took sides about who was right or wrong. But could this topical storyline have been done better?
Jj's reaction to learning his father betrayed him was the strongest part of this storyline.
Jj was understandably both shocked and upset. The dad he knew and loved would have never betrayed him or Haley this way, and he's longed to have that father back ever since Jack's "death...

I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying the Jack Deveraux resurrection story.
It didn't seem like we needed a second back-from-the-dead but with amnesia storyline and I was worried that the writers would minimize Jj's pain and anger at his dad's "death" since they seem to dislike acknowledging Jj's bad boy past.
But Jack's return has, ironically, breathed new life into this soap, and his scenes on Days of Our Lives during the week of 1-7-19 were among the most entertaining.
Jack's reaction to meeting Kayla and learning that he had raped her years ago was almost as emotional as Jj's had been when he found out about it soon after his father's alleged death.
In fact, that was the only thing missing from these scenes. When Jj learned about this back in 2013 -- a sequence that also began with a conversation with Kayla -- it pushed his already-fragile mental...

As much as I love Jack Deveraux, I wasn't sold on him returning alive.
The idea that Jack was alive all along while his family -- especially Jj, who had serious mental health issues as a result of Jack's "death" -- suffered seemed needlessly cruel. Plus, we've been through this presumed dead/not dead cycle with Jack too many times to count.
But Jack's return has added energy and excitement that I didn't even realize was missing. It has also given Jj something more substantial to do than trying to force Haley to talk to him and has affected all of Salem.
If Jack had to return from the dead yet again, the only thing that made sense was some sort of amnesia storyline.
That was set up when one of the doors in the secret lab in Nashville had his initials on it. Jack's magical resurrection makes more sense...

Reigning champ “General Hospital” has won a record 13 Best Drama Series Emmys over the years. Will it defend its title against “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of Our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless”? And will “Jeopardy” (16-time winner for Best Game Show) and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (combined 10-time winner for Best Talk Show and Best Entertainment Talk Show) extend their records?

Who will win the Daytime Emmy for Best Younger Actor? There may not be much suspense judging by the sample performance reels submitted to the television academy’s blue ribbon panel. Gold Derby contributor Tony Ruiz and I have both watched every nominated performance, and we think Casey Moss (“Days of Our Lives”) is far ahead for his performance as Detective Jj Deveraux, who in his scenes becomes overwhelmed with guilt and contemplates suicide after shooting an unarmed man in the line of duty. Watch our slugfest above.
“I think he’s as close to a lock as there could possibly be,” says Ruiz. “I don’t see how Casey Moss loses this. It has everything that a good Emmy submission needs to have: it’s emotional, there’s lots of range, it ends with a huge scene of impact.” I agree that Moss’s reel makes him the overwhelming favorite,...

James Reynolds has played Abe Carver on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” since 1981, and in the process earned nominations at the Daytime Emmys for Best Supporting Actor in 2004 and 2017. This year Reynolds is nominated for Best Actor, which is his first nomination in the lead category since 1991 when he contended for his role on the short-lived soap “Generations.” Will Reynolds win his first Emmy after almost four decades on daytime television? The winners will be announced on April 29, but they’ve already been decided in the drama acting categories by blue ribbon panels that viewed sample performance reels. Watch Reynolds’s submission above.
Reynolds’s reel surrounds the aftermath of a police shooting: Abe’s son Theo (Kyler Pettis) was shot by Jj Deveraux (Best Younger Actor nominee Casey Moss) even though he was unarmed. Abe is enraged, and he becomes even more furious when Jj explains that he...

The 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented on Sunday, April 29, but the winners in the drama acting categories have already been decided by blue ribbon panels that viewed sample performance reels. In the race for Best Younger Actor, Rome Flynn has earned his first career Emmy nomination for his role as Zende Forrester on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Flynn joined the soap in 2015, and left the show in late 2017. Will Flynn’s submission help him win on his first try?
In the submission, Zende listens as his wife Nicole (Best Younger Actress nominee Reign Edwards) debates whether or not to sign the papers that will allow her sister Maya (Karla Mosley) and her husband Rick (Jacob Young) to adopt the baby that Nicole carried for them as a surrogate. Nicole has recently learned that she may not be able to have another child, so she wonders whether...

In the Daytime Emmy race for Best Younger Actor, Hudson West is nominated for playing Jake Webber on ABC’s “General Hospital,” a role he has played since 2016. It is the 11-year-old actor’s first career nomination, and if he wins he will be the youngest actor ever to prevail in this category. But the winners have already been decided in the drama acting categories by blue ribbon panels that viewed sample performance reels. Will West’s submission help him make Emmy history? Watch it above.
The reel begins with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Drew (Best Actor nominee Billy Miller) telling Jake that Drew is not actually Jake’s father as they all believed, but his biological uncle. Jake is heartbroken by the news and tells Drew that he doesn’t want any other father except him. Elizabeth and Drew try to calm Jake, and Drew promises Jake that he...
