In the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, estranged lovers Joel and Clementine, played by Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, undergo an experimental treatment to remove memories of each other from their brains. A wrinkle in the procedure results in Joel’s realization that erasing his pain also means forgetting the joy and happiness he shared with her.
Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine takes the first part of that narrative as its inspiration, perhaps not recognizing that it’s the second bit that makes Michel Gondry’s 2014 film, the title of which was inspired by Alexander Pope’s poem “Eloisa to Abelard,” such a devastating cautionary tale. “Now I’m in my head, wonderin’ how it ends…I try to wipe my mind just so I feel less insane,” Grande sings on the title track, directly invoking the film’s plot but only vaguely acknowledging that some memories are irreversible.

Ariana Grande’s hint-dropping tactics in the lead-up to her latest single, “Yes, And?” offered fans a few puzzle pieces about her upcoming album era. In the song’s music video, a red card reading AG7 — shorthand for her seventh studio album — featured coordinates that led to Montauk, New York. And on Instagram, the singer shared a selection from Alexander Pope’s poetic “Eloisa to Abelard” from 1717. The clues all came together as Grande finally announced the record title: Eternal Sunshine, out March 8.

Exemplary – if slightly unexciting – choices defined this year’s ceremony, but I can’t help but grieve for Richard E Grant
So in the end, there were no great surprises at this year’s Baftas, and it was a great night for The Favourite, which in the most extraordinary way fuses trad Brit period theatricality with high auteur cinema. Olivia Colman’s Bafta as best actress is the most glorious achievement so far in this performer’s remarkable career. Her portrayal of Queen Anne was simultaneously hilarious, scary, eerie and poignant. She may have changed the course of history studies. It was only on rewatching The Favourite that I realised when I first encountered this monarch’s reputation: as a student, reading Pope’s The Rape of the Lock: “Great Anna, whom three realms obey, Dost sometimes counsel take – and sometimes tea!” When are we getting an Alexander Pope biopic with Toby Jones incidentally?...

At the close of Counterpart‘s Season 2 premiere, FBI turned Oi agent Naya Temple (played by Betty Gabriel) reported into the mysterious Management, via that old timey radio apparatus. This time, though, once she was done affirming her commitment to drawing out the agency mole, viewers got a glimpse at what’s going on at the other end of the signal.
In a fittingly cryptic scene, we saw an older man, code-named Avalon, complete a text exchange with other individuals, before shutting down his transmitter and storing it into a locked compartment.
Did we finally lay eyes on Management?

You know the old saying, be careful what you wish for because you might just get it.
That's what was running through my head while watching Counterpart Season 1 Episode 10.
Howard admitted that after seeing what Howard Prime had on the other side, a part of him hoped he could either live in that world or keep a piece of it with him. He changed his mind, sure, but is it too late?
The season went out on a decidedly sedate note considering where it previously left off, but that didn't mean a lot of slightly left-of-center players weren't taken out of the mix in the meantime.
I cannot say I understood the entirety of what was happening, but I have a lot of questions regarding the second season.
In fact, most of what I have after "No-Man's Land, Part Two" are questions, and if you know me at all, you...

No, no, no!!
Only the women were making rational decisions on Counterpart Season 1 Episode 8, and with just two episodes to go to wrap Counterpart Season 1 and a guaranteed Season 2 on the way, I feel assured a heap of trouble is landing on everyone before the closing credits finish this one.
It was very frustrating watching otherwise intelligent people let their emotions get the best of them.
Once the scenes of the school and OEmily and her team stumbling upon the fire merged, I felt almost silly for not recognizing earlier that's where they were.
But like the teacher said, there is so much more for the school to accomplish that killing all of the children seemed like the last option available to them. Not only was years worth of pain and suffering and intensive training cast aside (being pragmatic here), but the loss of life was atrocious.

What was your initial reaction when the credits rolled?
Mine was, "F#@k me!"
That's because Counterpart Season 1 Episode 7 was a perfect hour. From start to finish it played out beautifully and gave Clare the history we desperately craved with a stunning finish to keep us guessing. What more could we possibly want?
Nazanin Boniadi was fantastic as Fera on Homeland, but her material as Clare is much juicer. It's a joy watching her control an entire storyline like she is here and if she seems to be locked into the spy category, her ability to train her emotions demands it.
I watched Clare be torn down as a human being, stripped of her individuality, turned into a person she didn't know to avenge a country based only on the word of a teacher and school she was taken to at the worst moment of her life.

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for the “Counterpart” Season 1, Episode 6, “Act Like You’ve Been Here Before.”]
When a show starts off establishing a world with an entire parallel existence, there aren’t many other places to go to shock an audience. But at the end of Episode 6 of “Counterpart,” the show delivered its most seismic twist so far.
An hour that saw the brutal end of jovial undercover Alpha butcher shop owner Heinrich, the true identity of Alexander Pope’s man on the inside, and some creative use of pangrams also brought the series’ most mysterious character into focus. Turns out that Clare, the middle-class supermarket shopper also doubling as an envoy for Baldwin the assassin, is actually the wife of Peter Quayle, Director of Strategy for the series’ inter-reality spy agency.
In the waning moments of the season’s sixth hour, Quayle (Harry Lloyd) finally puts the pieces together, realizing that the search for the mole inside Strategy has led him the one person he never suspected.

Howard's doing a bang-up job stepping in for his other.
On Counterpart Season 1 Episode 5, he was part of a mission in which he didn't exactly succeed, but he didn't fail, either. And he also reached out to his other's daughter in a way that will be beneficial to them both.
OHoward is even discovering that he has a little bit more of Howard in him when he realized as the disappointment when he discovered who Howard had been playing One with for six weeks hit him hard.
OEmily and Howard working together feels pretty natural, as it would, I suppose, given they're just two halves of their other selves.
Getting out into the public gave Howard a chance to ask questions, and we got answers from just about everyone concerning the flu epidemic in the early 90s.

The Howards are going through with their plan to change places.
That means on Counterpart Season 1 Episode 4, Howard will have to step up the pace as he enters the other side to take the place of OHoward.
What will he find when he gets there? This trailer gives us no idea whatsoever.
It does provide intel on what OHoward will be doing while he's wearing Howard's clothes.
He appears to be interrogating a man in a deli, asking what he might know about Alexander Pope, including why AP would be interested in bringing an assassin to this side.
Why Would Pope want an assassin over here?

Who does he want to kill, or better yet, who does he want to replace with his own man from the other side?
What's highly amusing is listening to Peter Quayle talk a big game.

It was the Emilys turn up at bat on Counterpart Season 1 Episode 3, and their story delivered!
Not only were we brought into the loop of Howard's Emily and her "accident," but the final reveal(s) was quite shocking, as well.
Did you suspect Emily might have been an agent, or did it come at you like a slap in the face?
My highest hope after learning all of this new information is that by the end of the season or sometime into Counterpart Season 2 Emily will be out of her coma and the foursome will be working together.
The only thing better than two J.K. Simmons is two J.K. Simmons and two Olivia Williams working together on one show. Oh, the talent!!
There were so many floating pieces that stuck out at me, and I'm afraid if I don't mention them up front, I'll neglect to do it down the line.

Other Emily is in the family business.
On Counterpart Season 1 Episode 2 she was willing to take orders to pull him in, and I have to wonder why she didn't question them.
She doesn't have the clearance of her husband, and it's hard not wonder why she wouldn't why a lower level ex-wife would be given the rendition. It was telling of their relationship, though. If she's willing to carry out a rendition order on her husband, things are not well between them.
Seeing how handily an unarmed Other Howard destroyed the two men Emily asked him to take in OHoward, his skills are no longer in doubt.
Just how bad things are between Emily and OHoward is up for debate when it's revealed the rendition call Emily received was a false one. Olivia Williams is playing Emily with just enough doubt in herself we can't be sure what she's thinking,...

From Bart Simpson's "Eat my shorts" to Rick And Morty's "Wubba lubba dub-dub", we look at the origins of a bunch of cartoon catchphrases...
Ah yes, the cartoon catchphrase. That quote uttered by your favourite character so many times that it has pried open your skull and set up home in your everyday vocabulary. A trademark when executed at precisely the right time, it functions as the laziest punchline in existence, triggering the warm chemicals of familiarity right down into your lungs, knocking out a laugh even though you’ve heard it an immeasurable amount of times already. And before you know it, you find your voice reciting the slogan itself, dropping the phrasing into casual conversation like a winking in-joke that only those who watch the same animations as you will understand, while you scoff at those who raise their eyebrows at your inappropriate response.

Daniel Franco, where did you go? Not far, apparently, 'cause he's back -- again! The very first designer ever auf-ed from "Project Runway," only to be cut early in Season 2, must be hoping the third time's the charm in "Project Runway All Stars" Season 5.
Entertainment Weekly just shared the list of new "All Stars" designers, plus the guest judges, and the premiere date: Thursday, February 11 at 9 p.m. Et on Lifetime.
This cast raises some eyebrows for a few reasons. One, they included two designers from "Under the Gunn," which EW labeled "Season 12.5." (Did you ever consider that show Season 12.5?) Also, there's no one from this past summer's Season 14 -- no Kelly Dempsey, no Edmond Newton, no anyone -- and no "Junior" designers either, which they could conceivably add if they're going to consider "Under the Gunn" PR canon. (Just bad timing, perhaps, with the shooting of this season?)

Last week on "Project Runway," the designers worked with pint-sized models to create children's looks. This week presented them with yet another model twist: they had to recruits clients from Washington Square Park in New York City and design appropriate looks for them to wear on the runway. But this episode may ultimately be remembered for the way it hinged on a pair of unprecedented decisions by Tim Gunn. -Break- 'Project Runway' recap: Some of the 'American Girl' kids were not alright The first came when Gunn assessed the designers' progress in the middle of the two-day challenge. He didn't mince words with Alexander Knox, warning him that his strange blend of polka dots and colors was one of the most hideous things he had ever seen and that he must change it to have any hope of surviving. Alexander was understandably panic-stricken, but he took Gunn's advice to heart...

And did Gus actually throw away the guard’s gun after escaping the prison transport? He didn’t suspect he’d, you know, need it again, with these creatures on the streets?...

Several new twists and turns are in store for "Project Runway" viewers, as the fashion reality show is set to return for its 13th season next month.
Three former contestants -- Ken Laurence (Season 12), Alexander Pope (Season 12), and Amanda Valentine (Season 11) -- are vying to return to the series via an Instagram campaign, the winner of which will be revealed during the season premiere. That lucky designer will compete against 18 new contestants, and three people total will be sent packing before the first challenge is even revealed.
Variety reports that that challenge will involve designers "using only a trunk of fabric to create a look that reflects what their spring collection would look like if they were to present at New York Fashion Week." A handful of finalists will ultimately complete said collection to vie for the "Project Runway" crown.
A list of guest judges was also revealed. They are:...

We're down to five designers on Season 12 of "Project Runway," with the dismissal of Kate and Alexander. So get a glass of something and let's dig in, shall we?

Tim Gunn and the designers go on a field trip to Sweetbriar Nature Center in Long Island. It's always fun when the non-nature designers get sent out into nature. They get to take a tour through the butterfly house, along with Billy B., the L'Oreal consulting makeup artist. If you haven't watched the episode yet, you may want to before reading this. It's not that last night's "Project Runway" was all that exciting (in fact, it was a little dull), but that the elimination was actually shocking. Thus, I proceed, but I'm starting with spoilers. Consider yourself warned. I hadn't considered this might be a double elimination challenge until the designers started tossing it around as a possibility. Of course, the designers worry about everything and rarely get it right, which is how craptastic designs like Alexander's cake-nun outfit go strutting down the runway as he oozes confidence. Seriously,...

The contestants’ textile design skills were put to the test this week as they were given the now re-occurring Hp Design challenge. Read Michael Costello’s recap on season 12 episode 11 here! This episode was a lot of fun and one of my favorite challenges, the Hp challenge! Each contestant had to design a print inspired by a local innovator. Which print did you think was the best? Project Runway Season 12 Episode 11 Recap: At first, everyone was terrified about the finals, but once Rob Le Bras-Brown of Hp Worldwide Marketing introduced the challenge, everyone forgot their fears and were excited to make their prints.
Watching the contestants meet their innovators was the best part. Everyone seemed inspired right away except for Alexander and Helen. Helen had a major breakdown in the showroom and was too nervous to design anything. Seriously, honey, just get a backbone, and get to work once in a while.
