A high school senior’s dress code protest is going viral — because he wasn’t punished for a violation.
Phillip Rodriguez, a senior at Hueneme High School in Oxnard, California, told Today Style that he wore a crop top to school last month as an experiment.
“I wanted to see, well, if the girls are getting dress coded for that, what if I do it?” explained the 17-year-old.
He cut up a plain white t-shirt, and paired it with jeans, updating his Twitter followers throughout the day. Before donning the outfit, he shared photos of the look and wrote, “Told...

We have been looking at Lgbtiq-themed documentaries for Pride Month. We conclude this mini-series with No Dress Code Required, which just played the Human Rights Watch Film Festival.
Right off the bat, director Cristina Herrera Borquez has a leg-up on other Lgbtiq civil rights documentaries by focusing on a (presumably) little-known fight for marriage equality in the Mexican state of Baja California. Queer stories from this region are not surprisingly few and far between. In No Dress Code Required we follow a gay couple – Victor Fernando Urias Amparo and Victor Manuel Aguirre Espinoza (“The Victors”) – who are withheld from marrying in spite of Mexican law.
What starts as Borquez simply documenting the seemingly minor court case, eventually leads to her having a front row seat in a national media frenzy that shines a necessary light on the dynamics of Mexico’s complicated relationship with the gay rights movement...

Powerful love permeates Cristina Herrera Boquez’s documentary about a same-sex couple in Baja California, Mexico who defy their local government and wage a legal fight to get married. And long before the movie’s over you’ll be as much in love with its subjects as they obviously are with each other. Although its central issue is sadly familiar (but hopefully won’t be for much longer), No Dress Code Required offers a heartwarming affirmation that decency sometimes prevails. The film, recently featured at New York City’s Human Rights Watch Festival, will be released theatrically later this year.

There’s been a lot of discussion internally in WWE this year regarding money. Since the WWE Network started in February, WWE has lost hundreds of millions of dollars. Various amounts of money have been reported, but the bottom line is it’s a significant amount. Since the traditional way of paying wrestlers Pay-Per-View bonuses isn’t the same since WWE Network started, a lot of talents are going to lose out on bonus money. They will still get their downside guarantees, merchandise money and everything else, but other payouts have become less significant.
This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer notes that a lot of talents are unhappy over money right now. That’s always going to be an issue, but there’s a feeling that nothing is going to be done or changed.
