I.S.S. trailer ramps up the paranoia and tension in the isolation of space amid a global devastation
Space is a scary enough place. Imagine being in space and witnessing a devastation taking place on Earth. That’s the start of the premise of the new sci-fi thriller, I.S.S., from Bleecker Street. Bloody Disgusting has just unveiled the new trailer online. The titular initials stand for the International Space Station and is the prime setting for this film. The mood starts friendly enough and showcases the crew of both American and Russian missions living in the structure in perfect harmony. Unbeknownst to them, hell is about to break loose on the planet below. As both crew teams witness vast explosions taking place on the surface of Earth, confusion, sadness, desperation and anger overcome the crew, and as they each receive extreme orders from their governments, the peace within the station dissipates.
The synopsis reads,
“Tensions flare in the near future aboard the International Space Station as...

Over two years after it was first reported that Tom Cruise might shoot a film aboard the International Space Station, it appears that the actor is inching closer to becoming “the first civilian to do a spacewalk.”
Back in May 2020, NASA confirmed that they were in talks with Cruise and SpaceX on some sort of film project that was unrelated to the actor’s Mission: Impossible films. “We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality,” NASA administrator...

Elon Musk’s successful takeover bid for Twitter has raised concerns about his plans for the social media platform, because of his political views. Historically those views have teetered left and right, but tend to gravitate towards libertarian. His anti-union stance as CEO of electric vehicle maker Tesla has displeased liberals, even if they constitute his best automotive customers.
Objections to The Boring Company, his venture that proposes to build underground transportation networks beneath cities, fall not on ideological grounds but practical ones: some civil engineers just call it pie in the sky.
But there is one skyward thrust of Musk’s sci-tech empire that attracts almost universal praise – the aerospace enterprise SpaceX. The Netflix documentary Return to Space, directed by Oscar winners Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, chronicles the company’s development of a recyclable rocket and its collaboration with NASA to get this country back into human space exploration.

Washington, March 20 (Ians) NASA has welcomed the nomination of former Democratic Senator Bill Nelson as its next administrator, as the US space agency works towards the key Artemis III mission that will launch the first woman and next man to the Moon in 2024.
US President Joe Biden on Friday nominated Nelson to serve as the 14th NASA administrator.
While chair of the House space subcommittee, Nelson flew aboard the space shuttle Columbia as a payload specialist on the Sts-61C mission in 1986. He was appointed to the NASA Advisory Council by former Administrator Jim Bridenstine in May 2019.
Nelson represented Florida in the Senate from 2001-19 where he served as ranking member on the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
"Nelson has a proven history of supporting our work here at NASA, and has helped advance America's position in human exploration, science, aeronautics, and technology," said acting NASA Administrator Steve Jurczyk.

Washington, March 19 (Ians) US President Joe Biden is reportedly tapping former Democratic Senator Bill Nelson as the next NASA administrator.
According to a report in The Verge late Thursday, Nelson, who is a former Congressman and three-term Senator from Florida, would succeed former President Donald Trump's NASA chief, Jim Bridenstine.
"I cannot think of anyone better to lead NASA than Bill Nelson. His nomination gives me confidence that the Biden Administration finally understands the importance of the Artemis programme, and the necessity of winning the 21st century space race," Senator Marco Rubio, who was Nelson's Republican colleague from Florida, was quoted as saying.
The Artemis III mission will launch the first woman and next man to the Moon in 2024.
NASA has said it will develop a detailed mission operation plan when human landing system capabilities, a landing site, and other architectural details come into sharper focus.

In the most outrageous news of the day, it’s been reported that Tom Cruise has partnered with space guru Elon Musk and his Space X company to work on the first narrative feature film shot in Space.
Although it’s very early days, the film is expected to be an action-adventure. No studio is yet attached to the movie but that surely won’t be a problem depending on whether any insurance company are insane enough to cover it.
Also in news – Taika Waititi to take the helm of new ‘Star Wars’ film
Could this be one mission just too impossible for Cruise to undertake? We all know that Cruise is a stunt junkie, but partaking in his own stunts death-defying stunts such as jumping buildings and braking your ankle for the sake of your art is one thing. Journeying into space for it could be one giant leap for man a bit far-fetched.

During the press tour for Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, a journalist asked the director what it was like to film in space, prompting a humorous reply. In the years since that groundbreaking blockbuster, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott, Damien Chazelle, James Gray, and more didn’t venture into the vast unknown for their respective space-set dramas, but it’s looking like the only man fit for the job is exploring the possibility.
While it’s been joked about for years that the only way that Ethan Hunt can one-up himself is to head to space, Deadline reports that Tom Cruise is, in fact, looking to shoot the first narrative feature film set far above Earth’s atmosphere. While it won’t be a Mission: Impossible film, the 57-year-old actor is talking with Elon Musk’s Space X team and Nasa about what it would take to film a project in outer-space.

Katherine Johnson, one of the Nasa mathematicians portrayed in the Oscar-nominated 2016 film Hidden Figures, died Monday, Nasa said. She was 101.
Johnson “was an American hero and her pioneering legacy will never be forgotten,” Nasa Administrator Jim Bridenstine wrote on Twitter.
“At Nasa we will never forget her courage and leadership and the milestones we could not have reached without her. Ms. Johnson helped our nation enlarge the frontiers of space even as she made huge strides that also opened doors for women and people of color in the universal human quest to explore space,” Bridenstine said in a statement.
Johnson was portrayed by Taraji P.
