“Survivor 46” contestant Bhanu Gopal feels prepared for the island because of his early life growing up in India. Excited to get the game started, the 41-year-old It quality analyst now living in Massachusetts dreams of the moment when he can “run and give Jeff a big hug.” Watch their full CBS interview above.
Though Bhanu is not a superfan himself, he was introduced to the show through his superfan husband George beginning with “Survivor: Cagayan.” He looks up to the game that Spencer Bledsoe played that season because despite getting “hit time and time again, he rose from ashes.”

With over 43 seasons of Survivor, it’s difficult to choose which ones stand out the most. There have been numerous entertaining seasons full of impressive gameplay, dynamic casts, and shocking Tribal Councils that have left us with our jaws on the floor. But we’ve narrowed the list of all-time great seasons to five must-sees for any Survivor fan.
Jeff Probst | Photo: Robert Voets/CBS 5. ‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’
Including Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X on our list of the top five Survivor seasons might be a controversial pick, but we wholeheartedly stand by it.
Adam Klein is one of the most underrated winners (aside from Vecepia Towery). After all, he is one of five castaways to win the show unanimously, and he played a smart (yet chaotic at times) strategic and social game. Plus, Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X introduced us to multiple memorable players, including Zeke Smith,...

Heads up, “Survivor” fans: two of the best seasons of all time — “Heroes vs. Villains” and “Cagayan” — are now streaming on Netflix. It’s a first for the blockbuster streaming site, which officially made available these two installments of CBS’s reality TV show on November 15. While there is still no official word on when the program can resume production in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, all 40 seasons will continue to stream on CBS All Access, with Jeff Probst serving as host.
Netflix viewers, if you haven’t yet seen “Heroes vs. Villains” (Season 20) or “Cagayan” (Season 28), be warned that this article contains spoilers for both of these iconic editions. Read at your own risk!

While “Survivor” fans patiently await news on when Season 41 might eventually premiere (the latest rumor has it airing in Spring 2021), there is some good news on the horizon as reruns of CBS’s reality TV show are coming to Netflix. Mark your calendars for November 15, as that’s when the series will start streaming on the platform for the first time, according to Netflix Queue. However, there’s a massive catch as Netflix has only acquired two cycles: “Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains” (Season 20) and “Survivor: Cagayan — Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty” (Season 28). Of course, all 40 seasons will continue to stream on CBS All Access.

In a game of strategy and social bonds, challenge strength remains an important component in “Survivor” 20 years later. Opinion is split on how much value there is in Immunity Challenge wins, but more often than not, they have helped players beast their way to the end and even with the $1 million prize. Examples include Tom Westman (“Palau”), Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), Kim Spradlin (“One World”) and Mike Holloway (“Worlds Apart”).
Other challenge beasts are able to win a bunch of challenges but just come up short in the end. Colby Donaldson is one of the original cases of this, and we have seen players like Ozzy Lusth, Terry Deitz, Spencer Bledsoe and Brad Culpepper do the same, without claiming the title of Sole Survivor. Then there are players like Joe Anglim, who are just so good at challenges that they must be voted out the minute they lose an Immunity Challenge.

Spencer Bledsoe has some kooky ideas for revamping ‘Survivor,’ including ‘taking all advantages out’
Spencer Bledsoe, a two-time “Survivor” player who came close to winning both “Cagayan” (Season 28) and “Cambodia” (Season 31), has some ideas for how to revamp CBS’s long-running reality TV show. As he recently told EW, “‘Survivor’ needs to be radically re-invented. It can be so much more than the hodge-podge of advantages that it devolved into during Seasons 34-39. To overcome this long dark age, though, it’s going to take a lot.”
The Chicago native listed off a whole bunch of changes he’d like to see “Survivor” make for future seasons, including “taking all advantages out, taking all manufactured drama and twist-y-ness out, and refocusing on characters, personalities and journeys.” Spencer added he wants to see a season where there’s “no voting for the first few weeks, or where tribes have to actually create their own structures and/or mechanisms for voting, elect leaders and form worlds.

When “Survivor: Winners at War” host Jeff Probst reads the final votes of Season 40 (from the comfort of his own home), whose name will you be rooting for to see on the parchment? Vote in our poll below for the person you hope wins “Survivor 40” on May 13, and then be sure to defend your choice in the comments section.

Let's face it: Survivor doesn't always have a feel-good ending.
We've seen villains win the game and likable players get voted out right before the finals.
Not this season.

And things have even gotten better for Collins: on Thursday afternoon, he and this season's heartthrob Joe Anglim taped a guest spot on The Young and the Restless. (They play coffeehouse patrons in scenes with Joshua Morrow,...

CBS's "Survivor: Cambodia" -- aka Season 31, aka "Second Chance" -- is ending its fantastic run on Wednesday, December 16, with a two-hour finale and one-hour reunion show (where probably only Spencer and maybe two other people will be allowed to speak). At the end of the penultimate episode, Jeff Probst teased that, during the finale, something would happen for the first time in 31 seasons. What is it? We have a guess, but first here's more from Jeff to Entertainment Weekly:
Okay, six players left as we head to the finale/reunion. What can you tell us about both next Wednesday night?
"The finale is ... phenomenal. Historic. Unpredictable. And ultimately satisfying. I think it will cap off, in grand fashion, what most fans will regard as one of — if not The greatest season of Survivor. I have absolutely loved the way this group played. I am proud and impressed by the level...

Survivor: Second Chance recap “Villains Have More Fun,” Season 31, Episode 13 (original airdate Dec. 9): It’s day 33 and only seven are left. Jeremy and Spencer voted with the gals last Tribal Council and took out Joe. While Joe warned them of a potentially all-girl alliance (Tasha, Abi, Kelley and Kimmi), they opted to get rid of the person who they thought was their biggest threat, Joe. Now, Spencer and Jeremy are second guessing that move. Abi sees Joe’s departure as “good riddance.” Kelley thinks it evens the playing field, believing they now all have an equal shot at … Continue reading →

Survivor: Second Chance recap “Tiny Little Shanks to the Heart,” Season 31, Episode 11 (original airdate Dec. 2): Only eight are left. It’s day 30 and it’s time for the tearjerker episode — the one where loved ones visit the island and the castaways crumble. But first let’s refresh on the last Tribal Council, it’s the first time Spencer made a move and got Fishbach out. Now he’s mending fences with Jeremy, as Jeremy lost his main man (Fish) and is a bit unsettled. After finally losing an immunity challenge after four consecutive wins, Joe actually is still around!!! Disclaimer: Stephen Fishbach has been People's resident Survivor blogger for years. He's quite popular around here.
We were excited when he was named as a possible contestant. We were thrilled when he made the final cast of the show. We were ecstatic – and a little bit surprised, if we're being perfectly honest – when he made it through the first tribal council without getting voted off.
As it turned out, Fishbach did better than anyone expected, forming solid alliances and lasting 29 days before being voted out.
Survivor is unpredictable, and Fishbach was eliminated after playing his "steal the vote" advantage? Why?...

For those who weren't watching Survivor in 2000, it's hard to understand Kelly Wiglesworth's importance to the franchise – and to reality TV in general.
Back then, she was a 22-year-old whitewater rafting guide who truly thought that Survivor would be all about braving the elements. As Richard Hatch gleefully schemed his way through the game, Wiglesworth was conflicted about forming an alliance and voting out deserving players.
The result in 2000: one of the most complex, three-dimensional edits in Survivor history. (She's the one who coined the now-ubiquitous reality TV catchphrase "I'm not here to make friends," right before admitting...

"Survivor" Season 31 (yes, can you believe it?) is now airing, and "Survivor: Second Chance" is one of the best competitions CBS has ever aired. Maybe it's the returning players, all "losers" hungry for a win, or the many twists that have only improved the gameplay and have yet to feel like desperate gimmicks. It's rare to have so many players pushing to win, with very different strategies, and we can't wait to see who ends up the sole survivor of "Survivor: Cambodia."
Who will it be?
Well, the edits certainly give us some hints. For example, we could've told you it wouldn't be Kelly Wiglesworth even before she was eliminated in Episode 9, since she had almost no screen time, including confessionals. Spencer Bledsoe is still the confessional king. The producers have him narrating the season, like this is his story and everyone else is a supporting player. Then again,...

Before I start this blog, I need to take a moment to apologize to humanity. Yes, if you were watching that episode last night, I misquoted one of the most famous lines in literature on national television.
It's double, double toil and trouble.
Not boil, boil, toil and trouble.

For a show in its 31st season, Survivor has managed to keep things remarkably fresh and new.
A lot of the credit goes to host Jeff Probst and the producers, who throw in a liberal amount of twists and turns so that contestants never truly know what's coming. Over the years, we've seen tribal swaps, fake merges, hidden immunity idols and double eliminations. (We're going to pretend that Redemption Island and the outcast twist never happened.)
But sometimes, the twists are not masterminded by the producers. Contestants have come up with ingenious strategies to change the game.

Survivor: Cambodia has one of the best castaway casts in recent memory. There is no one on Survivor season 31 who isn't playing the game and playing it hard. Yet not everyone's game is equal. Obviously only one can walk away with the million-dollar prize. We can't tell who that will be (yet) but we can judge the castaways' games. For most of them there is a straight answer. They are either playing a bad game (like Ciera) or a good one (like Jeremy). Then there is Spencer who is enigma. Spencer, who could be eliminated every week or could just win the entire thing. Is Spencer playing the best or worst game on Survivor: Second Chance?...

Woo Hwang came into this season of Survivor with a lot of baggage.
When the 31-year-old martial arts instructor played in Survivor: Cagayan, he made a colossal mistake in taking eventual winner Tony Vlachos to the finals even though he may have had a better chance against Kass McQuillen, who had rubbed some of the contestants the wrong way.
That choice cost him the game.
During his second chance, Hwang's game never really got off the ground. He went to nearly every tribal council and watched as his allies were voted off.
He was voted off on day 16 – partially...
