The Wiz has returned in a Broadway revival starring Wayne Brady, Deborah Cox, and others.
The cast includes Emmy-winner Brady in the show’s titular role and Grammy-winning Cox as Glinda the Good Witch.
They’ve been appearing on various morning programs and talk shows to promote their big event by discussing their roles, what this show represents, and more.
The co-stars recently appeared on CBS Mornings and talked to Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Vladimir Duthiers.
While some may have found the interview entertaining and insightful, several critics called Gayle out for her involvement in the segment.
In particular, one question Gayle asked drew criticism from a viewer, while another brought up something else that bothered them about the interview.

Sitting with “CBS Mornings” on Wednesday, Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth refused to clarify his company’s stance on LGBTQ rights — in the last week of Pride month, no less.
“We support politicians that support our business,” he said, answering to the heightened scrutiny and cratering sales Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light have faced in the months since a social media partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney led to a widespread, far-right boycott.
After Whitworth noted that Anheuser-Busch has supported the LGBTQ community since 1998, CBS News’ Vladimir Duthiers noted apparent contradictions seen in the company’s behavior. While Anheuser-Busch released special rainbow bottles in 2019 in honor of Pride, for instance, the company also has a history of donating to politicians who have supported anti-lgbtq legislation.

Vladimir Duthiers has a new topic that he can discuss in his regular “What To Watch” segments on CBS Mornings” — himself.
Duthiers, who has worked as a correspondent and fill-in on the program since 2019, has seen his role grow over time. Some people gird for battle by putting on armor. Tony Dokoupil just bought a second pair of dress shoes.
“I’ve had the same pair of brown, beat-up, nasty dress shoes — my good shoes. I’ve been wearing them for several years now,” the “CBS Mornings” co-anchor confides in a recent interview.
Dokoupil, 41 years old, has reason to refresh his wardrobe. He and CBS News have renewed his contract, locking in the team behind the network’s morning news program– Gayle King and Nate Burleson also co-anchor the show, while Vladimir Duthiers is a daily contributor — for the next few years. It’s a sign that CBS and parent company Paramount Global are confident in the show, which, even though it remains in third place behind ABC’s “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Today,” has been making viewership gains in important categories as the current battle for A.M.

Few cultural commentators are better equipped to discuss the ever-evolving media landscape than The Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr.
Though known first and foremost as a comedian, the Harlem-based humorist’s journalism credentials run deep. Wood’s father, Roy Wood Sr., was a radio broadcasting pioneer who covered the civil rights movement. That tenure has covered all of the show’s Trevor Noah era, after the South African comedian took over as full-time host from Jon Stewart in 2015. It’s also covered the show’s continued evolution from satirical news outlet to cultural institution.

CBS Village will be a brand dedicated to content about a diversity of communities, including Black, Asian, Lgbqt, LatinX, women and millennials.
Kim Godwin, executive vice president of news, said that their “hope is that by spotlighting this cross-section of our coverage across all of our platforms, we’ll help audiences connect the dots in these stories involving race, gender and identity and bring a richer understanding to the national conversation around the problems, progress, and potential our nation faces.”
The network recently formed a race and culture unit, led by Alvin Patrick, and have recently added three journalists. CBS News producer Marcelena Spencer is joining as senior producer; CBS News producer Bonita Sostre will be coordinating producer; and Harry Forbes will be broadcast associate.

CBS This Morning anchor Gayle King was visibly shaken on-air Tuesday after viewing footage of two racially charged incidents that occurred over the weekend. Video of the first, in which Amy Cooper, a white woman calls police falsely claiming that a black man, Christian Cooper, was threatening her life, went viral, sparking outrage on social media on Memorial Day Christian Cooper had asked her to leash her dog in an area of Central Park where dogs are required to be on leash.
In the video, Amy Cooper is seen telling police “there’s an African American man threatening my life.” Christian Cooper, who had been filming the incident on his phone, did not appear to make any threatening moves toward Amy Cooper. King also was upset about the way Amy Cooper was treating her dog as she struggled to hold on to the animal, yanking it by its collar.

Just as the March 18 edition of “CBS This Morning” ended at 9 a.m. Et, executive producer Diana Miller was informed that the show’s studio was about to be shut down for the second time in a week because of the threat of exposure to the coronavirus.
As Miller’s team scrambled to find other studio options for the rest of the week, they quickly eyed the Ed Sullivan Theater down the road from the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57th Street.
The space’s usual occupant, “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” was shut down, like dozens of other entertainment programs that went dark last week as the public health crisis intensified. As a news program, “CBS This Morning” qualifies as an essential service, compared to Colbert’s late-night variety hour that typically includes a live studio audience.

Stay out of Gayle King’s way on Wednesday morning.
As the clock approaches 8 a.m. tomorrow, King and her “CBS This Morning” co-hosts, Anthony Mason and Tony Doukopil, will have to whisk themselves from their home studio to another one at the multi-tiered New York broadcast facility that hosts their program. They will have to climb several floors and scamper down long hallways. Upon arrival, they will find something that has not been a staple of their morning broadcast: a live, in-studio crowd. Guests including Karamo Brown, Cynthia Germanotta and Jane Pauley will be on hand to discuss mental health awareness with a hand-picked audience that will include people who have had their own dealings with mental health challenges.
“It will be a bit of a run for our anchors, but we have some TV tricks up our sleeves to make sure they have time to get there,” says Diana Miller,...

News Team: Assemble.
CBS News plans to hurl a new anchor squad into TV’s morning-news wars Monday when a different trio – Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil – takes the helm at “CBS This Morning.” The A.M. effort that has won critical plaudits by focusing on harder news topics, like international affairs and business, and has given CBS new momentum in a daypart dominated by ABC’s “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Today” that it struggled in the past to conquer. But the show has ceded ground in recent months.
That doesn’t mean CBS is going to abandon the program’s newsier premise, says Diana Miller, its new executive producer. Viewers still won’t be seeing an abundance of cooking segments or summer concert series. “We are certainly not going to be doing less news,” she says. “In this day and age, there’s no shortage of it.

It may be one of the most infuriating moments in TV history, as Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and university professpr Christine Blasey Ford, one of several women who has accused him of sexual assault when they were teens, are expected to testify Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The hearing, which is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. Et in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, comes despite the fact that Ford and Senate Democrats have asked for an FBI investigation into Ford’s claims. “CBS This Morning” anchor Norah O’Donnell acknowledged this morning on “CBS This Morning” that one of the biggest stories of the day had to do with the show’s own network, CBS.
The CBS program opened with a segment about the exit of Leslie Moonves, the longtime CBS CEO who exited the company yesterday amid multiple allegations of sexual harassment by several women over two reports from The New Yorker. Moonves has acknowledged some of the encounters but described them as consensual or awkward and denied he forced himself on anyone.
The anchor made remarks similar to those she offered on the program ten months ago, when she and co-anchor Gayle King addressed the departure of their former colleague Charlie Rose, after a report in The Washington Post contained allegations by many women about that journalist’s behavior toward them.
“There is no excuse for this alleged behavior,”she said,...
