Reality television shows are constantly changing. Networks and producers are always trying new things to make their shows fresh and relevant. This is normally a good thing for the fans of reality television. However, in the case of Survivor, it is not something fans are happy about. The changes in this CBS megahit television show have fans wondering if Survivor is still a reality competition show or if it has now become a soap opera. Fans are displeased, to say the very least.

Fans are not happy there are so many backstories. It appears Survivor fans are not as interested in the contestants and their lives outside the show. They want to see more of the competitions.

“Survivor 45” contestant Brandon ‘Brando’ Meyer has a clear vision of the type of player he wants to emulate in the game. The 23 year old software developer from Seattle is a true superfan so “no matter what happens at this point” he’s happy to just be a part of it. Watch their full CBS interview below.
Brando is aware that he’s playing in the “26 day fast-paced era,” so he’s had to think about what kind of game will be successful for him. His work as a software developer will help him be aware of “every detail and making sure nothing gets by [him].” But as a superfan, of course Brando has a “Survivor bucket list” of things he wants to accomplish in the game. He says that one of those things is “having a Survivor pizza.”

Sia is about to hit a major milestone in her Survivor fandom. In 2016, after appearing on a reunion special for the reality show, the singer started giving money to its contestants. She told contestant Tai Trang she would donate $50,000 to him personally and another $50,000 to a charity of his choice — and she has continued the habit since.
In a recent Howard Stern interview, Survivor host Jeff Probst, who is friends with Sia, confirmed that she has been so generous that she has given away nearly $1 million.

“Survivor” is a game that ends with one person claiming the life-changing $1 million prize, but sometimes the winner is not the one people expect. The title of Sole Survivor is the result of taking out the biggest competitors, being likable in the cast, and appealing to the jury, all while arguing the case of why you’re the most deserving of the win. While many of the champions are well-deserved, at least according to the passionate fans at home, others spark massive debate when Jeff Probst reads their names out loud. Scroll through our photo gallery above (or click here for direct access) where we detail the Top 10 biggest “Survivor” upset winners of all time.
Tina Wesson (Season 2 — “Survivor: The Australian Outback”)
Back when “Survivor” was watched by almost 50 million people, Colby Donaldson was the young, fit, charming cowboy who the public wanted to prevail — and he almost did, making it to the Final Two.

Netflix recently added Survivor Season 32 to its streaming library, introducing a new group of people to the Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty cast, including the season’s winner Michele Fitzgerald. Michele is a bit of a controversial figure in the Survivor community. But despite the pushback she received after the season 32 finale aired, Michele has continuously proved why she deserved to win in the years following her first television appearance.

Upon arriving in Cambodia, the Survivor producers placed Michele on the Beauty tribe. At the time, Michele was a 24-year-old bartender from Freehold, New Jersey.
According to her CBS bio, she believed she would win Survivor because she “watched every season, so I know what it takes to be successful on this show. Using my charm, I think I can build strong relationships...

After 43 seasons, Survivor has had plenty of champions that fans believe shouldn’t have won the game. Viewers of the CBS reality competition series have strong opinions, so it’s difficult for everyone to agree on whether or not a Sole Survivor is “worthy” of the title. And unfortunately for the Survivor Season 32 winner, their triumph is one of the most controversial decisions in the show’s history.

Survivor is a brutal game, and every castaway that signs up to play knows the risks that come along with it. Producers thrust them into dangerous conditions, including unfamiliar species, limited resources, and harsh weather. Sadly, sometimes the CBS reality competition series’ circumstances result in medical evacuations from the show. And that’s what happened to Caleb Reynolds in Survivor Season 32, aka Survivor: Kaôh Rōng — Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty.

Hidden Immunity Idols have been a “Survivor” staple since Season 11, “Guatemala,” when Gary Hogeboom found the elusive token. Since then, idols are being used on a much more strategic level, with some finders even playing it on other people in the game. It is an added layer to the game that continues to make players even more paranoid than they already were, fearful of being blindsided by the finder. But who’s found the most idols on “Survivor”? Scroll down for the updated list.
Some “Survivor” contestants are dangerously good at finding idols. Once you find one, it generally becomes easier to know what to look for. Players like Russell Hantz, Tony Vlachos, Tai Trang, Rick Devens and Kelley Wentworth have all attained multiple idols in the same season. Not everyone plays their idol correctly, and some infamously fail to play them at the right time, resulting in their elimination.

When “Survivor: Winners at War” host Jeff Probst reads the final votes of Season 40 (from the comfort of his own home), whose name will you be rooting for to see on the parchment? As of this writing, only nine castaways remain in the running to take home the series-high prize of $2 million, with one more scheduled to join them from the Edge of Extinction at a later date. Vote in our poll below for the person you hope wins “Survivor 40” on May 13, and then be sure to defend your choice in the comments section.

“Survivor” superfans are currently hyped for the upcoming all-winners season, but it’s not always the case that the most popular contestant of the season is the one who wins. In fact, the audience tends to fall in love with those who just come up short of the $1 million prize, often more so than the champion. Players like Rupert Boneham, Cirie Fields and Joe Anglim will probably never win “Survivor,” no matter how many times they come back and try. Their likability is a double-edged sword — they’re genial enough to be safe through several Tribal Councils but once it gets toward the end, they’re too big of a jury threat to win. As we prepare for “Survivor: Winners at War,” here’s the ranking of our 16 favorite lovable losers we hoped would make it onto an all-winner season someday.

Talk about amazing. Joe Anglim, whose lush waterfall of hair puts Fabio to shame, has cut his cascading curls. “Survivor” 38’s returning player got clipped backstage on Wednesday’s season finale of “Edge of Extinction.”
What would make him lose what just might be the source of his incredible performances during challenges during three editions of CBS’ popular reality show? None other that Aussie pop chanteuse Sia, an apparent “Survivor” super fan, dared him to lose that gorgeous mop for charity and offering him $15,000 to do so.
It all started early in the three-hour show when host Jeff Probst kidded Joe, saying that maybe the reason he hadn’t won once after competing on three seasons was his follicles. That caused the “Chandelier” singer to tweet: “”Hey @janglim21 if you cut your hair off and donate it to a children’s cancer wig making charity I’ll give you 15k,...

You would think that Manu tribe member Wendy Diaz had enough to worry about after she injured her ankle last week during a reward challenge on “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.” But she was more concerned about the fate of the reward – namely a clutch of chickens. But while Dan “The Wardog” DaSilva was practically smacking his lips at the prospect that meat might be in reach, Wendy was plotting to save the poultry’s necks. “The players signed up for this game, not the chickens, so why should they be penalized,” Wendy explained, which is a bit odd since she is neither a vegetarian nor a vegan and normally eats chicken back home. We must invoke another bird — cuckoo!

They often wear glasses. Their brain power generally compensates for any lack of brawn. They can be quite handy when it comes to strategizing and puzzle solving. And self-deprecating humor is often their secret weapon. Let’s hear it for the “Survivor” super nerds and give them some love.

So far, both members of the David fellowship have played a good enough social and mental game to form a connection to the alpha males and others on the Goliath team now that both tribes have merged. In fact, last week’s cliff-hanger of a Tribal Council with multiple versions of immunity idols saved Christian’s neck.

Even just that first tribal council was thrilling, as everyone played their idols at once and Jeff had to resort to a default elimination. Michaela has a real lack of patience and that has come out most often in challenges. Michaela's challenge ire has usually been directed at Tai. Michaela even literally dragged Tai along the beach in the most recent reward challenge. Despite her antagonistic behavior toward him, Michaela has struck a deal with Tai. The two are the newest alliance of Survivor: Game Changers' constantly shifting alliances. Alone, neither Michaela or Tai are particularly great at Survivor but together they could rule the game.

That is how you play Survivor! We begin this week’s recap by giving credit where credit is due. And the credit goes to Andrea Boehlke. I’m not just saying this so she is nice to me on the Survivor Fan Forum set we share every week and doesn’t spit in the water they place in the goofy tiki cup with the umbrella in front of me. I’m saying it because she had a hell of an episode — mastering pretty much everything there was to master.

With 128 days in the books, Ozzy Lusth has officially played Survivor more than any other contestant ever -- and he's also the only one to play four times and never win.
The 35-year-old surfer spent his shortest time on the island this most recent go-around (24 days), after being eliminated on Wednesday night's second episode.
Exclusive: Ozzy Lusth on Witnessing Jeff Varner Out Zeke Smith on 'Survivor': 'The Reaction Was Shock'
This season of Survivor: Game Changers seemed tailor-made for Lusth, who quickly became a fan favorite on his first season, 2006's Survivor: Cook Islands, for his survival skills and incredible immunity streaks, though his time was surprisingly cut short on Wednesday after failing to win an immunity challenge he had played -- and won -- twice before.

It all went down during the tribal council, when Varner, 50, outed Smith, 29, in an attempt to paint the Brooklyn-based asset manager as “deceitful” and therefore worthy of being voted out.
Knowing that he was on the chopping block, Varner started by pointing out that a “secret alliance” was forming between two contestants: Smith and Ozzy Lusth.
