Jellysmack is adding a big name to its catalog of true crime content. The company known for its suite of creator services has acquired the Law&Crime Network, a legal destination backed by A&e Networks.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Law&Crime’s cross-platform portfolio includes an eponymous streaming service and a YouTube channel that counts more than five million subscribers. A significant portion of those subscribers joined the Law&Crime community during the network’s coverage of the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial, when it established itself as a trusted provider of courtroom coverage and cracked our U.S. Top 50 ranking.
Since the conclusion of that cultural moment, Law&Crime has continued to consolidate its position on YouTube. It has provided a platform for true crime personalities like Annie Elise and will continue to connect with that community post-acquisition.

If Gwyneth Paltrow’s recent trial involving a ski-hill collision was a TV show, it would be a ratings blockbuster.
According to a Variety report, the eight-day trial was viewed by nearly 30 million people, on a variety of platforms.
While Paltrow emerged victorious after retired optometrist Terry Sanderson sued her for $300 million over his claim that she collided with him on a Utah ski hill, the other big winner was the Law and Crime Network, which livestreamed the trial on its YouTube page; as Variety reported, approximately 16.5 million people watched the trial via that livestream, with an additional 7.4 million watching on the Law and Crime Network Facebook page, and another 4.2 million via TikTok.
“This trial performed incredibly well for us across all of our platforms,” said Rachel Stockman, president of the Law and Crime Network. “The interest continued to multiply each day we streamed it on our social live feeds,...

Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski trial was watched by nearly 30 million people across YouTube and social media platforms, Variety can report.
The eight-day saga was covered exhaustively by major media outlets and disseminated in viral clips and memes all over the internet. It was also a significant boon for the Law and Crime Network, which streamed the trial live on its YouTube page.
About 16.5 million people tuned in to the livestream, the network said. Another 7.4 million viewed the event on Facebook, and another 4.2 million consumed proceedings involving the Oscar winner on TikTok. Keep in mind, these numbers do not account for similar airings on Court TV and the Associated Press live feed.
“This trial performed incredibly well for us across all of our platforms. The interest continued to multiply each day we streamed it on our social live feeds, linear channel and for our video-on-demand,” said Rachel Stockman, president of the Law and Crime Network.
