A lot can transpire in the space of a fortnight.
Justice League has come and gone and the first teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War is now available for all to see, praise the gods, but the comic book community is still longing for one, fabled artifact: Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League.
Forget the Mother Boxes and reality-altering Infinity Stones; Snyder’s director’s cut has spawned a number of conflicting reports, one impassioned petition over at Change.org (now at 150,000 signatures and counting) and a worldwide investigation, as curious fans begin scouring the four corners of the Internet in search of clues and nixed deleted scenes.
That search is still very much ongoing, of course, and that’s despite Justice League‘s VFX artist claiming that Zack Snyder’s initial cut doesn’t actually exist. The latest twist in the saga once again comes from Reddit, so...

Warner Bros. apparently really tried to work out a deal with Paramount Pictures to allow Henry Cavill to shave his mustache off for Justice League. Unfortunately, Paramount said no, and that's after WB sent them some samples of what they could do with adding a stash to Cavill's face for Mission: Impossible 6.
A VFX artist who worked on Justice League recently took part in an Ama on Reddit, and when asked what his reaction was when he found out he had to remove the mustache via CGI, he said:
"A mix - to some people it's a cool little project to get stuck in to and another problem to solve, which is what a lot of VFX is about. Challenging. To me, as a fan, I was annoyed haha Paramount should've shaved him and stuck a fake one on for MI6. Ridiculously petty of them. We did tests on...

Right now the Dceu is in a state of flux. If everything had gone to plan, Justice League would have been the critical and commercial equal to Marvel’s Avengers and kicked off a hotly anticipated phase of DC characters solo movies. With the film a bit of a disaster, however, things are up in the air for Warner Bros. And their problems couldn’t be better illustrated than the current fix they’re in regarding who will play Iris West in Flashpoint.
Previously cast was Kiersey Clemons by director Rick Famuyiwa, and West was set to make her debut in Justice League before a full appearance in the Flash solo film. Unfortunately, the character ended up a victim of the editing scissors and never made it to the final cut of Justice League. Not only that, but Famuyiwa is off the project due to creative differences. So, given that...

It’s been a bumpy few days for Justice League, as its release is joined by news of hurried VFX and more...
Nb: The following contains spoilers for Justice League and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

If the opening shot of Justice League wrong-footed you, then rest assured: it wasn’t only regular audiences who were left startled by Superman’s uncanny valley face. A brief scene designed to reintroduce a gentler, kinder First Son of Krypton, the superhero epic’s opening instead sparked widespread discussions about Henry Cavill’s top lip.
As was commonly reported before Justice League’s release, the cast of DC-Warner’s movie were recalled for extensive reshoots during post-production, during which time Cavill had already signed up for a role in Mission: Impossible 6 - a part that required him to grow a moustache.

Had Warner Bros. not rushed the reshot “Justice League” into cinemas, would it have been better? Well, Henry Cavill’s upper lip might’ve looked a bit less like an uncanny valley. But we might never really know how things would’ve turned out had Joss Whedon not been micromanaged by Warner Bros., or Zack Snyder was given the space to make the movie he wanted.

Now playing in theaters across the globe, Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s Justice League has been dogged by mediocre reviews ever since its release on November 17th. It looks like things will only get worse before they get better, too, what with analysts claiming the pic will now limp miserably toward a $700 million box office tally, despite initial estimations projecting a billion-dollar home run for the suits at Warner Bros.
But there is an S-shaped light at the end of the tunnel – and no, we’re not talking about the Man of Steel, but rather Zack Snyder, whose cut is reportedly “much longer” than Justice League‘s theatrical version. Not only that, but it’s said to feature more cameos, too. Obviously, there’s an intense demand from the fanbase for Warner Bros. to release it – including a massive petition online – but so far, the studio’s remained silent in regards to their plans.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut. Those five words are enough to fill fans’ hearts with hope and optimism and/or start heated debates online. Even if you were pleased with what Joss Whedon ultimately did with the film, it’s hard to deny that a lot of what was cut sounds like it could have made the finished product a whole lot better and as such, a petition asking Warner Bros. to release the alternate version has now reached over 100k signatures. But will it end up swaying the studio?
Unfortunately, the answer to that is probably not. And it’s not because they don’t want to give us Zack’s cut of the pic, but rather because such a thing doesn’t even exist. Or at least, that’s according to a VFX artist who worked on Justice League. Hosting a Reddit Ama earlier this week, the...

Over the last 50 years of filmmaking, there are very few films that have influenced modern filmmaking like Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner.” Unlike other landmark films that changed Hollywood – ranging from “Easy Rider to “Jaws” – Ridley Scott’s 1982 film was a box office disappointment. Of course, the lasting impact of “Blade Runner” was also quite different than these films that became instant cultural phenomenons.
“‘Blade Runner’ is simply one of those cinematic drugs, that when I first saw it, I never saw the world the same way again,” said Guillermo del Toro told one interviewer, when describing why “Blade Runner” was one of his five favorite films of all-time.
Del Toro wasn’t alone. For a whole generation of filmmakers – including the cinematographers, productions designers and visual effects artists – a direct line can be drawn between “Blade Runner” and the imagery of modern sci-fi movie. In the 35 years in which...
