He was the first person to earn an EGOT (winning a Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony) and is one of two people both win a Pulitzer Prize and achieve the EGOT. He is best known for his songwriting partnerships with the lyricists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II.
