The Picyure of Dorian Gray
21 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
One thing that others commenting on this movie leave out is that at the end Dorian asks forgiveness for his sins. That is, after all, what this movie is based on. No, you never see the Devil and Dorian make a deal when Dorian makes his "wish"; but it's implied throughout. Dorian tries to run from the light and live on the darker side. Finally it gets the best of him and he realizes that the only way to put things right is to put a knife through the heart of the monster in the painting--the monster he'd become. As far as actors go, there are a few gems hidden in the Picture of Dorian Gray. Donna Reed plays the niece who signs the portrait of Dorian. Dorian later falls in love with her when she grows up and become the same age. While Peter Lawford doesn't play the lead part, he gives his usual good performance as David Stone.
