Your Mummy's calling you!
14 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The gang is here to help a friend, who happens to be a professor. A creepy looking Arab named Dr. Najib warns them about a 300 year old Mummy curse, and tells them to stay away. The Gang naturally decides to meddle, and people start getting turned into stone, over a coin. This is a very enjoyable episode, don't get me wrong, but it's never been a favorite. I find Mummies to lack that special quality in a horror villain. They just don't appeal to me, nor do they reward my imagination with scares. I will give credit to the mummy itself in this episode. It's very well done, and looks exactly like a Mummy should, even if the Mummy yelling "Coin, coin!" incessantly, devalued it a bit. The fantastic gags overcome a rather ordinary story, and a sub-par villain. There is a lot of great stuff here, from Scooby & Shaggy crying over Scooby's fake stone, or the infamous vases gag from Scooby Doo himself. Scooby is at his best here. I can't tell you all the stuff he does , but Scooby fans will howl at the stunts he pulls. The ending is predictable, of course, but it's done with such style, I didn't care. If you're a Scooby fan, and haven't seen this episode, you should. It's not a favorite, but I do like it a lot. Have a liverwurst and Ice Cream sandwich, and enjoy!
