Sweet Beat (1959)
1/10
contender for worst British film ever
26 October 2014
I cant remember seeing a film which was so amateurly made. The acting ,script, directing and photography set a new low.Given that this is a musical you don't expect much of a story so in this respect the film lives up to expectations. The music itself is reasonable if unexceptional. At one point in a recording studio Keith Fordyce announces a song, they then cut to a shot of a tape recorder being turned on then to technicians twiddling knobs and then just fades out in mid song.It is difficult to believe that the producers made this film and expected to get it distributed. It has been released,or should I say escaped,on DVD and now represents a rather historic curio.
