Peter Gunn: Tramp Steamer (1960)
Season 3, Episode 8
Okay Episode, but Nothing Special
27 July 2015
Okay episode, at best. Looks like gangster Poliska is back in the country after being deported. At least, that's the way it looks when in the opening hook older brother Rico is jarringly shot. Poliska has a grudge against the Rico's and now he's after Dave, the younger brother. Good thing Pete and Jacobi are after the culprit before he kills more.

The series trademarks—style, mood, and urban cool—are all there to lift the rather familiar premise. Looks like Edie was unavailable, so a different songbird, Peggy Taylor, gets the spotlight. Also, Dead End kid Bobby Jordan is listed in the credits, so I guess look quickly for a waiter. Most memorable part may be that face-flattening door opening. It's imaginative and a definite departure. And get a load of Pete's expert karate chop that quickly dispatches a bad guy. Anyhow, it's a routine entry in a superior series.
