PETER GUNN – The Heiress 1960

This is episode 37 from season 2 of the 1958 to 1961 P.I. series, PETER GUNN. Craig Stevens headlines as the hard as nails detective who always dresses with style. Regulars in the series are Hope Emerson as the owner of, MOTHER'S jazz club, and Lola Albright as Stevens' squeeze, Edie Hart, who is the club singer at, MOTHER'S.

Wealthy business type, Gage Clark, hires Gunn (Craig Stevens) to help him with a problem. The problem is a freshly paroled gangster that Clark's daughter, Selette Cole, has taken up with. The gangster, Barry Russo, has moved himself into Clark's mansion and keeps rather odd hours. The local underworld population has also taken a turn for the worse since Russo has hit the streets again. Drive-by killings are now becoming a regular thing.

Clark is far too frightened of Russo to ask him to leave. He wants Stevens to have a "friendly" chat with the man. All this does is get Stevens added to the mobster's hit list. This leads to several attempts on Stevens' life. This of course does not amuse our favourite private eye. With help from Steven's Police pal, Herschel Bernadi, guns are pulled, lead flies with Mister Russo being the recipient of a fatal overdose of the heavy metal.

Not the best episode, but still watchable.
