Warning: Spoilers
Blair is ridden with guilt over her fling with Chuck. To make matters worse, she's got her 17th birthday party coming up and she's still not over the breakup with Nate. Vanessa has a bad habit of showing up at the wrong place at the wrong time. Dan decides to take Vanessa to Blair's birthday party, hoping she and Serena will bond. It ends up backfiring by making Serena more uncomfortable. Jenny puts her family in a tough position when she brings home her mother, Allison Humphrey. Rufus is still heartbroken that Allison left him to concentrate on other things. Nate's parents selfishly ask Nate to make a humongous sacrifice to save his father's business as he faces embezzlement and fraud charges.

This is a fantastic episode. Almost everything clicks in this one. I would hate to live in New York with these people. Everything is so scrutinized and nothing is private. It's one of the things that makes Gossip Girl such a good show. My favorite thing about this show right now is the love triangle with Dan, Serena, and Vanessa. It's so awkward, yet so entertaining at the same time. I cringed during the opening when Vanessa catches Dan and Serena having some 'private time' Vanessa is a good girl, but she always shows up at the wrong place at the wrong time. I did get a kick out of watching Serena and Vanessa bond a bit over guitar hero near the end. It's also interesting to watch a devious scumbag like Chuck fall for somebody like Blair. Allison Humphrey is a nice addition to the show. I felt it added some intense drama. Not to go unnoticed, I thought Nate's storyline was well done as well. Nate may be my least favorite character on the show, but he's starting to show some personality. I felt really bad for him and his plight. Special mention to Blair for her hilarious confession. I won't spoil it.

This is an excellent episode. As I said, almost everything clicks in this one. Every storyline is engaging and the characters are coming together nicely.
