Just watched the first Star Trek movie. For a "bad movie" I really enjoyed it - might be my favorite of the series. It is apparently the closest to Roddenberry's vision, so that is probably why I liked it so much. It was DIFFERENT. Not flawless of course (there were glaring pacing and effects issues), but what movie is? It was incredibly creative and that is what counts for me, rather than getting a traditional movie experience.
People like Roddenberry and Lucas are so under-appreciated.

OK so I decided it's not my favorite, but it is up there. Here are the rankings of the ST films I have seen so far:

I know my rankings are a little unorthodox, but I really don't care :p I like what I like :)
I will say that I do plan to watch 2 and 4 again, as my expectations were probably too high - my friend who is a huge Trekkie said they are fantastic and easily his 2 favorites, so I went in with big expectations and was let down a bit lol
