Ok. All ten episodes watched and I think I finally understand the message. The message was: We had a decent police thriller, panicked when no one was interested, threw in supernatural stuff, forgot all about the supernatural stuff, and here's our giant pile of "thank god we could attach the name Penny Dreadful to it."
