The Returned (2012–2015)
7/10
A very beautiful first season. But the second one is a crap.

Warning: Spoilers
Why do most series that are composed of a sequential story invariably get lost?

The first season of this series is wonderful. Beautiful, melancholic, ethereal, different, special and human, even dealing with zombies. The context is brilliant, complex, it brings to light an unimaginable and unique overview in zombie stories, which is how family members, friends, lovers and the whole society would react if loved ones who had been dead for a long time inexplicably returned to life and appear back in their homes...

How would you react, for example, if someone dead in your family ressurrect to life and came back home normally without knowing that he (or she) had died and without any notion that years had passed and everything had changed? The whole first season takes place within this context and it is wonderful. Above all, a melancholy fantasy drama, not a horror plot.

I saw some revies here saying that many questions were left unanswered in the first season, however, in my view, this wasn't a problem. In fact, I thought the last episode was very beautiful, without giving importance to answers, just showing the segregation of those who were rejected.

Then comes the second season and destroys everything...

It transforms the story into a bizarre, forgettable, futile and empty plot of fiction and zombies, with negligible villains and good guys, without any further connection with the main themes covered in the first season. A complete crap.

1st season: 9 out of 10 2nd season: 1 out of 10.
