The Boys: We Gotta Go Now (2020)
Season 2, Episode 5

It's getting worse

I don't really like what is being done with the story. It lacks a general direction. For the last two episodes we basically have the characters just doing stuff without any general goal in sight.

The Stormfront story seems to be going nowhere. A conflict between Butcher and Black Noir was indicated but doesn't seem to go anywhere. In addition the way it is handled takes mystery points away from BN. The Butcher and his wife story seems to have been pushed to the side or is over and didn't go anywhere. It also took goals away from Butcher as a character. I mean he was driven by his desire for revenge for his dead wife. Then he was driven to get his wife out of there. Now what actual reason does he have to go after the supes? Hughie is just there but doesn't really do anything. M.M. is similar in this regard. The whole story related to the Deep is uninteresting as he is an uninteresting character. A-Train has barely gotten any attention but what we're seeing seems to be going nowhere. He's being pushed to the side, but doesn't want to which is obvious to understand. However there is nothing he can do about it and the show hasn't given any indication that he could do anything about it.

Then you have the supes shooting a movie which basically just constantly throws certain ideological bs down your throat and none of the characters call it out which means this show once again is Hollywood promoting certain agendas and it just gets ANNOYING.

For a moment in this episode I thought there would an actual escalation that drives the story into an interesting direction. However that is thrown away a few seconds later and we just go back pointless nonsense.

I've now seen 5 out of 8 episodes from this season and within these 5 hours most of it was filler without context to any larger story line. So where do they want to go with it? In the end even though things happen in the episodes nothing seems to really change in the larger context.
