The whole story is set up to show how little chance a group of rebels had of stealing the Death Star plans. Even so, it indicates that the defining factors are not the chances we have, but the choices we make with them. It also implies the key relevance of being supported in those choices because, although there are main characters and leaders, the sense of community strength might be stronger than in other films in the franchise.
