I love learning about alternative burial and memorial practices, so this episode was right up my alley.
The only thing I was kind of disappointed with was their lack of explanation on exactly how the DNA technology links with their proposed plant memorials. Are they saying the plant would be like a computer storing the info? And, if so, if the plant dies, then so does the memory of the person? I wish they'd have gone into more detail to clarify what they were talking about, and how those two concepts are linked.
I very much appreciated what they said about social media and how our own data belongs to powerful corporations that never intended, foresaw, or were trained to be the caretakers of (digital) human remains. It's an important issue that not enough people are talking about. I added Elaine Kaskets book to my to-read list because I want to know more about it.
