Jodie Foster Makes it Worth Watching
24 February 2024
A very simple movie with a very talented cast. As always Jodie Foster does not disappoint. She is essentially a woman in a child's body. She carries the entire movie on her shoulders. Foster is absolutely fantastic and extremely talented. I loved the chemistry between Forster and Jacoby. The movie really came to life when their characters came together in the film. Martin Sheen did a great job at making you hate him as he played the creepy perverted character of Frank.

The entire movie was almost all filmed in the main floor of the house, this made it feel very staged and like a play. I wish the film would have used more sets and locations to give it a grander feel. The story is very simple as you have a girl living alone trying to fend for herself with a little drama thrown in here and there.

The biggest turn off of the movie, for me, was some of the spice they threw in it. The movie is very simple, but they tried to spice it up by adding a character who is a pedophile who brings it on really heavy. And then an underage relationship that could be seen as statutory rape. In real life they used Jodie Fosters sister as the body double to do the nude scene who was twenty years old at the time. But when you're watching the movie it gives the impression that you are seeing the nude body of a thirteen year old (really didn't need to see that) and that the character is having sex with a sixteen year old. And yet in real life the actor playing the sixteen year old is actually twenty at the time. Which makes it more cringe... thirteen year old Foster acting out a romantic relationship with twenty year old Jacoby. Most of their relationship is implied and seems innocent, but it really ruined it when they threw in the nudity.

It's really only worth watching if you are a fan of Jodie Foster. She's amazing.

"How old do you have to be before people start to treat you like a person?"
