It’s cold-blooded murder, I tell ya! Feisty Ruth Gordon goes undercover to find the evidence of homicide at Geraldine Page’s desert home, where companion-housekeepers keep disappearing. Robert Aldrich produced this marvelous, E-Ticket battle between celebrated actresses, and the result is a creative new solution for retirement finance problems!

After Ben Higgins made viewers swoon as a fan favorite on Kaitlyn Bristowe's season of The Bachelorette, he's now on his own journey to love on The Bachelor. He's been blogging exclusively about each and every rose ceremony for People - check back each week and follow him on Twitter at @benhiggi!Wow. That was intense. Even watching it back I got uncomfortable because that week was just filled with so much angst. It was really the first time since this whole thing started that I started to doubt everything. And I said from the beginning when all those...

Yes, they'll have reason to celebrateWe're getting down to the wire now and doesn't it seem more confusing now that it did a month ago? So strange. The pink elephant in the room might be that the precursors were so entirely uniform that it should be easy to predict. God, they get us every time! The National Board of Review has haters all over the internet but despite endless attacks on their legitimacy claiming that their choices are nothing but studio banquet-table-buying driven ... we (collectively speaking) still always let them kick it off.
Sometimes we get a kick out of it. Sometimes we just get kicked in the gut. It's totally an S&M relationship. But through it all we admire the way they've maintained their enviable kick-off mythos well despite the growth of movie awards in which they can no longer shouting "first!" like monosyllabic screen-refreshing trolls. (Gotham, Efa, Bifa, Satellite and Spirit Awards nominations have already come and gone after all... though most of them are not dealing with the whole pool of Oscar hopefuls the way the Nbr does.)
The Nbr prizes are usually a mix of "awesome! well done" and "aren't you embarrassed to publicly state that?...

"The King's Speech" debuted to rave reviews Friday. The film has scored a jaw-dropping 100% among the top tier of critics at Rotten Tomatoes. Among all 41 critics surveyed by the site, this Oscar frontunner rates an impressive 91%. Of the 18 experts surveyed by Gold Derby, eight are predicting "The King's Speech" is the film to beat at the Academy Awards. One-time favorite "The Social Network" has the support of five of our pundits while "Black Swan" is the choice of two and "Inception," "Toy Story 3" and "The Way Back" win over one expert apiece. "The King's Speech" certainly has a proven forumla for success at the Academy Awards. The film was produced by, among others, Harvey Weinstein, who has stickhandled three Best Picture champs: "The English Patient" (1996); "Shakespeare in Love" (1998) and "Chicago" (2002). The director, Tom Hooper, won an E...

Photo: Paramount Pictures I've been meaning to do an Oscar update for a while now, but not enough has really happened to generate too much conversation until just recently. Today I took a peek at my current predictions for Best Picture, Actor, Actress and the Supporting categories and only two categories really stood out in terms of needing some adjusting. The first was Best Supporting Actor.
Best Supporting Actor Rank Nominee 1 Christian Bale (The Fighter) 2 Geoffrey Rush (The King's Speech) 3 Sam Rockwell (Conviction) 4 Jeremy Renner (The Town) 5 John Hawkes (Winter's Bone) Click Here For Complete Chart With the recent screenings of The Fighter that took place in both New York and Los Angeles the response has been quite impressive so far. The overall opinion seems to insist the film is a certain Best Picture nominee and Christian Bale is the front-runner for Best Supporting Actor.

Wow this looks beautiful. Focus Features has just unveiled the official trailer on Yahoo for Cary Fukunaga's Jane Eyre, his new gothic horror take on the Charlotte Brontë classic, starring Mia Wasikowska as the titular Jane Eyre, Michael Fassbender as Edward Rochester, as well as Judi Dench and Jamie Bell. This looks absolute amazing, I must say. I wasn't sure what to expect, but wow Fukunaga has taken a very unique spin on this classic and I'm flipping for it. I don't usually have much interest in period pieces, but this looks thrilling. Do yourself a big favor and check out this new trailer, I'm certain you won't regret it. Watch below! The movies that are ahead in the awards race---or have the most buzz at this stage--either have already opened or nabbed media coverage at film festivals, from Sundance (Blue Valentine, Waiting for Superman, The Kids Are All Right), Cannes (Biutiful, Another Year, Inside Job) and Venice (Black Swan, The Town, The Tempest) to Telluride (The King's Speech, The Way Back, 127 Hours), Toronto (Rabbit Hole, Hereafter), New York (The Social Network) and later reprise fests such as the Hamptons and AFI Fest. Now Paramount has slotted a surprise "secret" AFI Fest screening of David O. Russell's The Fighter, which I will see tonight at Grauman's, with an audience: a smart studio move. I will also catch for the second time, Thursday at AFI Fest, Darren ...

1. Beneath The Dark: Grade D
There really isn’t much going on in this poster, and it seems rather lazy. The fog which seems to be serving to subvert some sort of message doesn’t seem to be used in a clever interesting way, it merely looks ugly.
2. You Won’t Miss Me: Grade B
This is a great use of an intimate shot, though not terribly original, and the color and text jump from the poster.
3. 127 Hours: Grade C+
This is a clever design, but unlike the poster for You Won’t Miss Me it seems a little too fashioned and smooth, where a little more intimate detail would serve it well.
4. The Way Back: Grade C-
The bottom image is great, but the images of the featured actors are rather mundane, and unfortunately take up most of the poster.
5. Erotic Man: Grade B

Erc Box Office: Jeff Bock confirms that awards-hopeful “The Social Network” took first place at the box office for the second week in a row, adding $15.5 million — or only 31% less than its opening weekend — to bring its cumulative gross to $46 million. The Katherine Heigl rom-com “Life As We Know It” came in second with $14.6 million, and “Secretariat,” the Disney horse drama targeted at middle America, rounded out the top three with a disappointing $12.6 million take. “Inside Job,” a doc about the financial crisis tha’s now in limited release, had the highest per-theater average of any release, bringing in $21,000 on each of two screens in New York.

Now that many Oscar contenders are being widely seen by media and industry wags, I think the race for best picture is becoming clearer. Here's my snapshot of the track as I see it now from my box seat at the Toronto International Film Festival. I won't get to see "The Social Network" until I return to New York on Thursday, but early reviews are in. And they're great, suggesting that we have an official front-runner. Best Picture (Front-runners) "127 Hours" "Black Swan" "Inception" "The King's Speech" "The Social Network" "Toy Story 3" "The Kids Are All Right" (Possible) "Blue Valentine" "Hereafter" "How to Train Your Dragon" "Never Let Me Go" "Secretariat" "The Way Back"...

Summer 2010 may be over and Oscar season has all but begun with the highly anticipated debuts of Never Let Me Go, The Way Back, 127 Hours, and The King's Speech (all four screened at the Telluride Film Festival last weekend), with more to come (e.g., The Social Network), but multiplexes will have their share of non-serious, non-Oscar-bait films that will likely draw bigger audiences than those (and other) Oscar hopefuls. They're meant to be entertaining crowd-pleasers, not serious-minded thought-provokers. Moviegoers will judge them both on those expectations and their individual merits.
Megamind, DreamWorks Animation's second animated film this year (How to Train Your Dragon was the first), borrows heavily from the Superman mythos, but instead of one alien infant saved from the destruction of his planet by a fortuitous rocket ship, Megamind has two, a Superman-like superhero, Metro-Man (voiced by Brad Pit) and Megamind (Will Farrell), a big-brained, blue-skinned alien...

I'm sensing the consensus is that it's been a rough year and there's not enough to look forward to. Am I wrong? The upcoming slate looks weirdly anemic but that might just be because some of the potentially interesting films don't have set distribution plans yet (like The Tree of Life, The Conspirator, The Way Back, Rabbit Hole and the like) but things will likely clear up when the fall film festivals kick off. I dread what the Oscar list might end up looking like --is 10 really such a good idea? -- but between Toy Story 3, Blue Valentine (they're making you wait), How to Train Your Dragon, Animal Kingdom (about to open), The Kids Are All Right and I Am Love I can't really complain about 2010 thus far. How about you?...

He is Harry Potter no more. So what's he lining up next? Deadline / Variety confirm that Daniel Radcliffe will be starring in Hammer Films' new gothic thriller The Woman In Black. This is based on the "modern classic novel" The Woman in Black: A Ghost Story written by Susan Hill and illustrated by John Lawrence. Kick-Ass / Stardust writer Jane Goldman is adapting the script for James Watkins, of Eden Lake, to direct. Radcliffe will play young lawyer Arthur Kipps, who is ordered to travel to a remote pocket of Blighty to tend to a deceased client's papers. Kipps soon begins to uncover the ghostly secrets of the house and local village. Hammer Films, a classic company behind a lot of the Christopher Lee horror flicks in the 70's, is preparing quite a comeback over the next few years, with other films like The Way Back and The Resident in...

The time has come to put the first predictions for the 10/11 Oscar season on record -- I'm still missing the actors but this takes a while! -- so Best Picture. I would say "we'll laugh about this later" given how little of it will likely come to pass but it's more like I'll giggle about it later. You, the kindly reader, must only remember the parts that do come to pass and promptly forget every blunder. Are you up to this generous challenge?
The Predictions Are All Right?
So, I'm guessing that "The Ten" goes like so
Another Year the auteur slot
The Fighter they like boxing flicks
Inception because Chris Nolan can't be a near miss forever
The Kids Are All Right for a popular dramedy
The King's Speech sounds like 90s Oscar bait, right?
Love and Other Drugs just because
Miral for a little global flavor
Rabbit Hole...

Producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have optioned the film rights to "I Am Legend" and "Stir of Echoes" author Richard Matheson's novel "Earthbound" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story follows a married man having an affair with a young woman who turns out to be a ghost driven by motives more sinister than romantic.
The pair and Keri Selig will produce while Ronnie Christensen ("Passengers," "Locked In") will adapt the screenplay.
The project does not fall under their first-look deal at Dreamworks, rather its being developed in conjunction with Imagenation Abu Dhabi ("The Way Back," "The Beaver").

How did Fringe follow up on last week's great, William Bell-inspired episode? With an installment titled "Dream Logic."
It followed the team to Seattle, where it investigated the case of a man who stabbed his boss due to a bad dream.
Confused? Read our detailed recap and it will make more sense.
We've listed a few of the best Fringe quotes from the episode below:
Walter: I need help putting this on.
Astrid: Walter, I do not think this is a very good idea.
Walter: Don't be such a grinch. I've told you science should be fun. | permalink Walter: The ride back was invigorating. The turbulence over Ohio was like being in the belly of a seizing whale. I screamed like a little girl.
Astrid: I'm sure that went over well with the rest of the passengers. | permalink Walter: Don't worry, Son. I promise to wear my shorts to bed...
