Satoshi Kon is one of the most ambitious directors in the film and anime industry. He knows how to instil fear into the hearts of viewers through psychological elements a bit too well. From Paprika to Perfect Blue, the director has an incredible body of work that makes him one of the best in the psychological thriller genre. But one of his lesser-known works and an anime, Paranoia Agent, is much more disturbing than any of his feature films.

Paranoia Agent has many layers to its narrative. It blends Kon’s signature narrative style of questioning what is reality and when the mind is playing tricks on you. However, it deals with completely different themes than Perfect Blue does. The ending of the anime also left viewers baffled and questioning what really happened. It’s time to dive into it.

The late Stanley Kubrick was one of the greatest legendary directors of all time, having gifted to the cinema the likes of critically acclaimed pieces like 1968’s sci-fi/adventure 2001: A Space Odyssey and 1980’s horror-mystery The Shining. Being so experienced in his respective field, the filmmaker was also an incredibly paranoid human being when it came to his works.

This was especially displayed while he was partly working with Hollywood veteran mastermind Steven Spielberg, on his last film which was completed by Spielberg after his death. This was the sci-fi/fantasy A.I. Artificial Intelligence from 2001, and Kubrick appeared to be quite anxious after entrusting Spielberg with the task of directing the film.

With six decades of acting under his belt, Harrison Ford has made works that have run the gamut of critical responses. On Rotten Tomatoes, his most critically acclaimed role is listed as the "Apocalypse Now" making-of documentary "Hearts of Darkness," a film in which he ironically doesn't actually speak or appear but which nonetheless earned universal acclaim from the review-tabulating site. His lowest-rated film? An already-forgotten 2013 thriller called "Paranoia," which just 7% of critics included on the aggregation site wrote positively about.
Many of Ford's most entertaining films lie somewhere in the middle of that wide range; they're crowd-pleasing blockbusters and cult favorites with some endearing -- and in the best cases, now legendary -- imperfections. Ask fans what their favorite Ford-starring films are and you'll get a smorgasbord of answers that fit in this category, from "Star Wars" to "Indiana Jones" to "Blade Runner" to "The Fugitive." Christine and the Queens has released a new single, “Rentrer Chez Moi.” The French-language song was written and produced by the artist, and arrived alongside a music video directed by Sasha Mongin and produced by Premier Cri. The ethereal clip was filmed in Paris and Hanches, France.
On the poetic track, the musician sings about returning home to oneself. The English translation of the lyrics showcases the meta nature of the lines: “This song makes me cry because it is true, so much love I have for you, this deep...

Christine and the Queens, aka Redcar, just wrapped up a European tour leg in support of his phenomenal new album, PARANOÏA, Angels, True Love. To date, the only chance North American audiences have had to see the theatrical performer’s new set was at Coachella — but that changes with a fall trek kicking off in October.
Better yet, Consequence has teamed with DoStuff to award one lucky winner to win a flyaway trip to catch Christine and the Queen’s show at Chicago’s The Vic.
The winner will receive two tickets to see Chris’ October 26th gig in Chicago (with support from BbyMutha), plus a special artist meet and greet. They’ll also receive $600 credit towards travel, as well as a three-night stay (October 26th-29th) at the 4-star Godfrey Hotel Chicago with a bonus $150 gift card for the I|O Godfrey Roofscape bar and lounge.

Postmodern attempts at genre defiance have become de rigueur for pop artists today. In a streaming-dominated world where we can type away on our laptops to ambient hip-hop in the morning, sing along to old yacht-rock hits on our afternoon commute, and dance to Edm at night, what other way is there to keep our attention than to try to give us everything everywhere all at once? We’ve gotten a few attempts to do just that so far in 2023, from Kara Jackson’s quietly rebellious blending of folk and R&b, to Yves Tumor’s kitchen-sink instrumentation, to 100 gecs’s audacious and absurd hyperpop assaults.
Many of the artists who appear on this list, though, no longer seem content to just break down old barriers, as they also seek to shatter interpersonal and emotional ones as well. The oft-cited isolation of modern living, heavily exacerbated by the pandemic, has...

“Missal sounds stronger — and more empowered — than ever.”
(Billboard)
Los Angeles, CA | June 16, 2023 – After a year of adversity and personal growth, Donna Missal is back with a vengeance. Following her departure from a major label, Missal embarked on a transformative journey of self-discovery, resulting in her highly anticipated album, ‘Revel,’ which the LA-based artist has self-released today through Ada Worldwide.
Missal’s ‘Revel’ is a testament to her resilience and unwavering determination. The recent challenges she faced became the catalyst for profound introspection and a genuine desire to forge deeper connections with her audience. Missal shares, “Revel is an album about the painful experience of transcending, it’s about reaching for light. I wanted to make an album you could dance or cry to or both at the same time.”
‘Revel’ not only signifies the creative evolution of Donna Missal but also represents an exploration of her motivations for making music.

It takes 97 minutes to listen to Christine and the Queens’ moving, three-act pop opera, Paranoïa, Angels, True Love, but you need months to understand it fully.
On the album, the French artist (let’s call him Chris for simplicity) summons celestial bodies, pays tribute to his late mother, flirts with 070 Shake, navigates acid-rock and dubby detours, samples Marvin Gaye and Pachelbel’s canon, and divines some of the catchiest melodies of his career. The album is a lot to take in, but the depth of emotion, musical ingenuity, and the...

A multifaceted and occasionally unwieldy manifesto for disaffected lovers, Christine and the Queens’s Paranoïa, Angels, True Love is the culmination of the increasingly ambitious approach to pop that the French singer displayed on past releases like 2018’s Chris. On the first track, Chris makes his worldview known: “From where I stand, everything is glorious.” What follows is a collection of wiry, introspective songs that break from pop conventions while asserting the life-affirming power of love.
The track that perhaps best encapsulates Paranoïa, Angels, True Love’s conceptual ethos is “Track 10,” in which Chris, desperate for human contact, begs his lover to take him dancing. Marking the end of the album’s cavernous and tumultuous first movement, the song flows along to the artist’s stream-of-conscious lyrics, accompanied by a destabilizing drumbeat and gothic guitars while he cycles between howls, gritty growls, and falsetto.
Like “Track 10,” much of the rest...

Lola Consuelos is having a hot girl summer in a bikini by the water.
She’s been busy promoting and sharing content about her song, Paranoia Silverling.
Her parents, Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa, have been helping their daughter with promotions, including sharing photos of Lola with her two brothers, Michael and Joaquin.
Lola rarely shares photos of herself, but as summer comes to a close in a few weeks, she dropped a carousel of pictures for her followers to enjoy.
From swimsuits to bikinis, Lola hasn’t been shy about showing off her toned body. She rocked a green swimsuit as her mom promoted her song, and this time, she was in a black bikini with a sheer cover-up as she posed by the water.

Kelly Ripa‘s daughter Lola Consuelos is stunning in a new poolside shot proudly shared by her famous mother.
The 21-year-old this week wound up in a rare photo with brothers Michael and Joaquin, this as 51-year-old Kelly celebrates having all three kids finally in one place again.
Kelly posted to her Instagram and for her 3 million+ followers, joking about her “chickens” and the empty nester situation she and husband Mark Consuelos have been facing.
The sunny snapshot showed Lola sandwiching her brothers, with everyone enjoying what was likely a vacation setting.
Lola was all smiles in a sparkly and burgundy-colored mini robe, one donned as a beachwear cover-up and matching the setting. The camera had taken in hints of an outdoor pool and blue skies behind the threesome, all of whom grinned for the camera.

The 21-year-old made headlines earlier this month for releasing her first music single – Paranoia Silverlining has so far proven a hit, and Lola’s relatively new TikTok has been sharing snippets from the accompanying music video.
Last week, Lola shared a carefree pool moment as she encouraged fans to stream her song – channeling the kaftan-like cover-up vibes adored by 51-year-old mom Kelly, Lola sizzled in the sun as she went classy and summery.
The footage showed Lola bronzing herself on a raised and cream stone ledge by an infinity pool overlooking ocean waters.
Showing off her toned and shapely legs, Lola topped up her tan while in a skimpy black bikini, adding in a sheer and embellished blue cover-up taking on a robe finish.

"They said it couldn't be done, but they were wrong!" Quiver has debuted a new trailer for the re-release of a cult comedy from the 70s called The First Nudie Musical, made by filmmakers Mark Haggard & Bruce Kimmel. This first opened in 1976 and is getting a VOD / Blu-ray re-release this February in the US. The movie is a comedy starring Cindy Williams, Stephen Nathan, and Bruce Kimmel. Nathan plays Harry Schechter, heir to a Hollywood studio who's forced to make a musical comedy porno in order to stave off bankruptcy. The movie features a series of farcical lewd musical numbers in the style of classical Hollywood musical comedies including: "Orgasm", "Lesbian Butch Dyke", and "Dancing Dildos." The movie has a low-budget feel, with a "musical-within-a-movie" theme in the tradition of Singin' in the Rain, but with satirical sexual humor. If you're curious, don't worry there's no nudity in this trailer,...

Severin’s extravagant four-film six-disc The Complete Umberto Lenzi / Carroll Baker Giallo Collection is a luxurious trip into sexy, violent Italo thrill territory. CineSavant concentrates on the first Lenzi-Baker collaboration, a truly nasty bit of misanthropy that bridges the gap between standard ‘Lady In Peril’ fare and the full-bore giallos that would soon become the norm. It’s presented under its original title, which sounds more appropriate for a porn movie… in the U.S. the given title was Paranoia.

When it comes to releasing unique and collectible Blu-ray box sets (such as their Al Adamson: The Masterpiece Collection), Severin Films has done an amazing job preserving horror history, and this summer they'll continue to do so with The Complete Lenzi Baker Giallo Collection, featuring Umberto Lenzi's collaborations with Carroll Baker:
"On June 30th, Severin Films is bringing together the complete collaborative works of two cult film legends with The Complete Lenzi Baker Giallo Collection, which includes superlative editions of Orgasmo, So Sweet… So Perverse, A Quiet Place To Kill, and Knife Of Ice.
Italian writer/director Umberto Lenzi helmed popular peplums, created extreme poliziotteschi, and invented the Italian cannibal phenomenon. Hollywood actress Carroll Baker was the Golden Globe® winning/Academy Award® nominated star of Baby Doll, Giant and The Carpetbaggers. Together in the late ‘60s/early ‘70s, they made four landmark films that changed the erotic thriller and giallo genres forever.

Obnoxious drag queens, sleepy hustlers, washed-up starlets, effeminate vampires, and sickly junkies were among the miscreants and lowlifes that inhabited a series of films made in the 60’s and 70’s under the banner of the Andy Warhol “Factory” label. Though the eccentric artist himself had virtually no creative input, Andy Warhol’S Flesh (1968), Andy Warhol’S Trash (1970), and Andy Warhol’S Heat (1972) though low-budget and mostly improvised, were milestones in underground independent cinema. The final film made under the Warhol banner was 1977’s Andy Warhol’S Bad, one of the most shocking black comedies of the 1970’s. Andy Warhol’S Bad differs from the earlier Warhol films because of its higher production values (a 1.5 million dollar budget) and studio-friendly casting, but retains its sense of underground cred thanks to a demented script by Pat Hackett and George Abagnalo that breaks many taboos of the time to create a hilarious deadpan satire.

I'm an film soundtrack junkie, an unapologetic, card carrying, raving and drooling addict. And seeing as my cinematic fixations lean toward vintage European genre films – horror, crime, western – it's an easy guess that the bulk of my rather substantial CD and vinyl film score collection tilts toward this passion too.
Which is why I'm so mad for Beat records, that Rome based label that specializes in gorgeous re-releases of obscure and celebrated Italo-exploitation soundtrack classics. And as every student of Eurotrash knows, no matter what genre the Italians dabbled in during that heady golden age, they seemed to belong to a genre unto themselves. Whether it be the Goblin driven black glove choking shockers of Dario Argento, the Morricone fuelled nihilistic twang of a Sergio Corbucci or Sergio Leone western, or the Fabio Frizzi steered psyche rock that bleeds over the films of Lucio Fulci , 70's Italian exploitation was universally strong,...
