Directed by Raj and Dk, the upcoming film, A Gentleman, stars Siddarth Malhotra in a double role, alongside Jacqueline Fernandez. The comedy/action flick, slated to release on 25th August, is supposed to be a sequel to the 2014 release Bang Bang and features the tagline Sundar, Susheel, Risky. It’s the story of a sundar & susheel Gaurav content with his ‘same shit different day’ routine and dreaming about settling down with the girl of his dreams, Kavya and having his ‘happily ever after.’ Kavya on the other hand prefers someone more risky and adventurous — perhaps someone more like Rishi! When a case of mistaken identity rocks Gaurav’s life, he stands to lose everything he has worked so hard for! What follows next is a roller-coaster ride, complete with action, romance and laughter.
The soundtrack for the film has been composed by musical duo Sachin-Jigar, and features lyrics by Priya Saraiya and Vayu.

It took me a while to figure out what is wrong with Manish Jha’s third feature film, and his first in 9 years.
The Legend Of Michael Mishra is the movie equivalent of Eddie Redmayne’s character in The Danish Girl. This is a case of role assumption, a personality masquerade. While Eddie played a girl trapped in a man’s body, The Legend Of Michael Mishra is an animation film masquerading as a feature.
There is no other explanation for the filmed ferocity of cartoonish excesses that slash across the 2-hour film in flinch-inducing flamboyance. The savagely broad satirical strokes with which the characters are painted make the people who populate Manish’s world like like puppets on a swig. Hindi films are known for their romance and it is one of the reasons so many people fall in love with the heroes, the heroines and the films! We asked our writers to tell us what moments in Bollywood define love or romance to them, be it a song, a line, a look, or anything that makes you sigh thinking that is Love! So for Valentine’s Day we present what we think is Romance Bollyishstyle!
The One with the Tune and the Recording
We could not pick just one scene from the great Dil Toh Pagal Hai starring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Karishma Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. However, the two that stand out for our writers are:
That moment when Madhuri and Shah Rukh are in adjoining changing rooms in a clothing store, and Madhuri hears him whistle a tune. She later hears it again and knows it was meant to be!

2013 saw legends, established celebrities, and newcomers alike try their hands (and hips!) at item numbers. As usual, the BollySpice team enjoyed watching all our favorite actors and actresses shake a leg on the big screen but a select few stood out the most.
5. Sonakshi Sinha – “Thank God It’s Friday” (Himmatwala), “Party All Night” (Boss)
Sure, “Thank God It’s Friday” was probably one of the most annoying songs of the year, but we have to hand it to Sonakshi for finally making an effort to shed that Desi damsel image with some impressive club hits this year. Sonakshi handled “Thank God It’s Friday” all on her own and her appearance in “Party All Night” (a true club-dance number featuring Honey Singh) was a treat. Here’s to seeing more sides of Sonakshi in 2014!

S. Hussain Zaidi is a Mumbai based investigative crime journalist, who has worked for some of India’s leading newspapers. One of his previous best selling books was Black Friday, which Anurag Kashyap successfully transformed onto screen. His most recent book is Dongri to Dubai: Six decades of the Mumbai Mafia and from this book has Shootout at Wadala been created. Sanjay Gupta says without it he could not have made this film, Anil Kapoor called it by far the best book on the Mumbai mafia and John Abraham hailed Zaidi as a master storyteller. If you have not had a chance to read the book, take it from us, it is an absolutely amazing book and having read the book recently, our expectations are sky high for the film. Further, Sanjay Gupta is back after a long hiatus and John Abraham attempts the role of gangster for the first time.

The prequel to the smash hit, Shootout At Lokhandwala, is based on Hussain S. Zaidi’s bestslling investigative book – Dongri to Dubai. Adapting a non-fiction book into a film requires special skills because of the need to sieve all the facts presented in the book into the film’s narrative and all this while, keeping the film entertaining! This is exactly the reason I was intrigued to watch this film and to see what Sanjay Gupta had done with the subject material.

The recently released dance tune, ‘Laila Teri Le Legi’ featuring John Abraham, Tusshar and the sensational Sunny Leone, was recently under the Censor Board scanner. Complying with The Central Board of Film Certificate (Cbfc), the makers have altered the lyrics to ‘Laila Teri Loot Legi’ in order to get the promo on air for television promotion.
Says director Sanjay Gupta, “The original version of the song had the lyrics, Laila Teri Le Legi. If we had to retain these words, the Censor Board would’ve given it an adult rating and we would not have been able to air the track on television during prime time. So we have changed the words to Laila Tujhe Loot Legi.”
Adds Tanuj Garg,CEO Balaji Motion Pictures, “Various modifications had to be made in the promo at the behest of Cbfc to get it aired on TV”.

The Censor Board of Film Certification (Cbfc) has been much in the news off late, for their proposed new censorship laws to the recent film rating chart. Now we hear that the latest to fall victim to the ever stringent censorship laws is the Sunny Leone track 'Laila' from Shootout At Wadala.
Apparently, the board took an objection to certain words in the item number from the film stating that certain lyrics 'Laila Teri Le Legi' needed to be changed to make it appropriate for the television viewing audience. Post this ruling, the makers of the film will be re-dubbing the line to 'Laila Teri Loot Legi', while the new version will now be shown on television.

Sony Music Entertainment, a global music giant, announced a 3 film music deal with Balaji Motion Pictures. The three films are Ek Thi Dayaan, Shootout At Wadala and Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi. Like all Balaji films, these three are no exception when it comes to the pedigree of music.
An entertaining supernatural thriller with an electrifying jolt at the end, Ek Thi Daayan marks the first ever association of two creative powerhouses – Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj. Ek Thi Daayan carries the Vishal Bhardwaj stamp of music, with lyrics by Gulzar. The first track, ‘Yaaram’ , rendered by Clinton Cerejo and Sunidhi Chauhan, is already topping the charts. Ek Thi Daayan stars Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin, Konkona Sensharma and Huma Qureshi, and releases worldwide on April 18.
The soundtrack of Shootout at Wadala promises to be the most elaborate album of the year in true Sanjay Gupta style – six tracks and four remixes.

The publicity of the keenly awaited Shootout At Wadala is at its peak, as the film makes it to the news almost every day for something or the other.
Following the massive launch of Priyanka Chopra’s dance track ‘Babli Badmaash’ and the announcement about the sensational Sunny Leone playing a walk-on part in a song sequence (‘Laila’) there were reports to suggest that Kangana Ranaut was miffed at being kept out of the film’s publicity.
There is news that Kangana was to be a part of the signature ‘Aala Re Aala’ track but couldn’t do it. Sophie Choudry now features opposite John Abraham in the soon-to-release song.
Clarifies Sanjay Gupta, “Kangana is my film’s heroine and there is no reason for her to be upset. She has a full-fledged role in the film. When Katrina did Chikni Chameli it didn’t mean that Priyanka was upset.

Tezz is a widely anticipated movie for a number of reasons. Firstly Ajay Devgn is doing an action thriller after a long time. The last one being Qayamat: City under threat in 2003 and since then has delivered two of Bollywood’s biggest grossers, Golmaal 3 and Singham. Anil Kapoor returns to Bollywood films, hot off successful appearances in popular American TV series 24 and a cameo in Mission Impossible 4. Priyadarshan is actively directing different films as opposed comedies, starting with Aakrosh, a hard-hitting social drama and now Tezz, a slick action thriller. Can Ajay Devgan deliver another 100 crore blockbuster? Will Anil Kapoor be back with a bang? Can Priyadarshan pull off an action film? These are just some of the questions we went in to find out…
Firstly a quick summary of the story: Aakash (Ajay Devgn) is happily married to Nikita (Kangna), he lives and works in England. A raid...

Mallika Sherawat v/s Priyadarshan drama has taken a new turn. Though it was widely believed that one had heard the last of controversy around the item song in Tezz, there is a twist in the tale. Also, it is Priyadarshan who is now having the final say, what with the song being totally snipped off the film. "Priyan Sir was always against the song from the very beginning. Now a call has been taken the song won't feature in the film at all. Leave aside it not being included in the running length of the film; it won't even feature in the end credit title rolls, as is the norm for such item numbers. Of course Mallika can't be expected to be happy about this and even Sameera Reddy may be seen smiling secretly somewhere around the corner. Still, the fact remains that everything now seems to have fallen in line,...

It is clear that some troubled history is repeating itself for Priyadarshan and his Tezz. Surprisingly, all of this is happening for a mere song. Even as cracks have started appearing between him and the film's producer Ratan Jain over the inclusion of Mallika Sherawat instead of director's current favourite Sameera Reddy for the song 'Laila', history shows that this is not really a first for the filmmaker.
"The same kind of tension had prevailed more than a decade back as well when Priyadarshan had more or less disassociated himself from the promotion of Hera Pheri. It so happened that the film was sans any item songs and was designed as a core situational comedy. However, just a few months before the release of the movie, producer Firoz Nadiadwala went ahead and shot two item numbers with Akshay Kumar without Priyadarshan's knowledge. Tezz marks the return of Priyadarshan after quite some time, his last release being Aakrosh that did not fare so well. Like Aakrosh, Priyadarshan has divested of his usual comical outings (Hera Pheri, Chup Chup Ke, Hungama and Hulchul) and gone for an action-suspense-thriller starring Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgan as leads. Zayed Khan, Sameera Reddy, Kangana Ranaut and Boman Irani bring up the supporting tier of the ensemble with a rumoured appearance by Malayalam acting legend Mohanlal. Trailers and promos of the film thus far have looked more than promising and therefore one expects the music to reflect same.
Sajid-Wajid (Dabangg, Housefull 2 and Wanted) have composed for Tezz while Jalees Sherwani and Shabbir Ahmed have penned the lyrics. The 10-track soundtrack features the vocal talents of Shreya Ghosal (‘Chikni Chameli’ – Agneepath), Shaan (‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh‘ – 3 Idiots), Mohit Chauhan (‘Sadda Haq’ – Rockstar), Sunidhi Chuhan (‘Ishq Sufianna’ – The Dirty Picture...

Bollywood is legendary for its colorful and often lengthy romantic movies. Romance and drama have been etched together since Alam Ara (1931) and we have seen several Laila‘s and Majnu’s, Heer‘s and Ranjha‘s move mountains to make a classic love story. Yet many feel that there no love as pure as the love of a child. Few Indian films have dared to explore the crush of a student for a teacher or an older person, a phenomenon most of us may identify with. These films portray the love of children,...

Eternal beauty Zeenat Aman, who gave numerous groovy songs during her time, has become quite an inspiration for today's actresses. Close on the heels of Deepika Padukaone's rendition of her Dum Maaro Dum, item girl Yana Gupta is all set to perform to Laila O Laila in Chalo Dilli. And this time, with this 70's bombshell's consent.
Zeenat, who was aghast at the way her iconic song from Hare Rama Hare Krishna had been remixed, had said that she couldn't bring herself to see the video. "Frankly I was deeply disappointed by the remix. I haven't seen it. But I did hear the song. And it just doesn't sound right. In the original, there was a certain innocence in Asha Bhonsle's voice and also in the lyrics. What I've heard here just left me cold," she said, highly disappointed and unhappy with the fact that the original artists involved were not consulted.

Right up until the end, political theorists the world over insisted that what happened in Tunisia couldn't-or shouldn't-happen in Egypt. Laila Lalami on why Westerners often underestimate the Arab world. Plus, full coverage of Egypt's uprising.
It was nearly 20 years ago that Samuel Huntington put forth the idea that major sources of world conflict in the aftermath of the Cold War would be cultural. Certain civilizations could coexist peacefully with one another, he argued, but others were bound to come into conflict because their inherent values and belief systems were polar opposites. The contrast between "the West" and "Islam" provided the clearest illustration of his argument and, after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, it gained an even wider following. Huntington's theory has so pervaded public discourse that when people speak of his "Clash of Civilizations," they usually mean the inevitable clash between the West and Islam.
