Tig Notaro, the famed American comedian and writer mostly known for being a Grammy award winner, is back with a new stand-up special. Her last stand-up from HBO Max was an animated special called Drawn, and it received rave reviews. Basking in the glory of the last stand-up special, which had an out-of-the-box presentation, Tig Notaro is back talking in her signature style. This time her wife, Stephanie Allynne, is joining her, but behind the camera.
Stephanie directed the special, which was shot in Brooklyn, New York, and just like her older specials, there are plenty of anecdotes from her personal life that have been shared this time. These stories would be highly relatable to those who are parents of toddlers and are used to the truth bombs dropped by them at this age. The kids at this age are honest about everything surrounding them, which is why these stories tend to be funny.

Tig Notaro has never had to tell the same jokes for so long, but her latest comedy special, Hello Again, arrives March 26 on Prime Video — well over four years after she first started touring the material. “My God, it just would not end,” says Notaro. “I couldn’t wait to be home with my family, see friends, do my ridiculous podcast and just work on new material around Los Angeles. I’m maybe doing one show once a week, and that feels so manageable.”
Such a time loop is especially odd for a woman whose career changed so much over such a short period. Twelve years after her now-famous Largo set, during which Notaro walked onstage and revealed a breast cancer diagnosis, she’s gone from cult comic to household name. She acts (Star Trek Discovery, The Morning Show), rents party buses with famous pals like Allison Janney, co-hosts a popular podcast (Handsome,...

It’s a fairly big month on Prime Video in March, at least compared to the other streaming service offerings! There are are two major films arriving on Amazon’s streamer. The first is a remake of the Patrick Swayze action classic Road House. Stepping into the late Swayze’s shoes? A crazy-jacked Jake Gyllenhaal, who really seemed to want to go the extra mile for this project.
The other big film coming to Prime Video is Ricky Stanicky, and the plot sounds really fun! It follows three friends who have always blamed their mistakes on an imaginary guy called Ricky Stanicky. When they have to finally introduce people to Stanicky, they decide to hire a washed-up actor (John Cena) to impersonate him. Hilarity ensues, maybe? But if neither of those make your watchlist, there’s also the return of the animated hit series Invincible.

Amazon announced on Thursday that Hello Again, the newest special from comedian Tig Notaro, will premiere on Prime Video on March 26. Check out a clip above.
Directed by Notaro’s wife, Stephanie Allynne, the special comes on the heels of her HBO hour Tig Notaro: Drawn, which made history as the first fully animated stand-up special in 2021. It’s said to be packed with delightfully awkward misunderstandings, health scares made hilarious, and family moments with her wife and children that are simultaneously sidesplitting and heartwarming.
From the “Make Believe Lounge” to the hallway outside her physical therapist’s office, Notaro finds humor in situations ranging from the everyday to the bizarre, crafting comedy out of hallucinatory text messages, a botched meeting with a Hollywood heavyweight, and a late-night encounter with a mustachioed fireman who has her questioning everything.

Tig Notaro is heading back to Amazon — and live action — for her latest comedy special. Prime Video will debut Tig Notaro: Hello Again this March.
The new hour marks Notaro’s first project at Amazon since the end of her two-season Prime Video comedy One Mississippi in 2017 and her first flesh-and-blood taping in nearly six years. Her last special, Tig Notaro: Drawn, made history as the first fully animated stand-up special when it landed on HBO in 2022.
Hello Again follows Drawn, as well as other previous specials 2018’s Happy to Be Here and 2015’s Boyish Girl Interrupted. It is described as including “delightfully awkward misunderstandings, health scares made hilarious and family moments with her wife and children that are simultaneously sidesplitting and heartwarming.”
The streamers are absolutely hammering their slates with stand-up specials this spring. Perhaps it’s just a continuation of the years-long trend or maybe it has something...

Music Box Films has acquired Tom Gustafson and Cory Krueckeberg’s “Glitter & Doom.” The film is billed as a “fantastical queer romance” and the musical comes with songs from the Grammy Award-winning Indigo Girls. “Glitter & Doom” premiered as the closing night film at InsideOut Toronto. It went on to play gala slots at more than 50 LGBTQ+ festivals around the world. Music Box is planning a March 8, 2024, theatrical release in NYC and L.A. That will be followed by a nationwide theatrical rollout and a VOD release.
The film comes at a time when Indigo Girls have been enjoying a popular resurgence. Their anthem “Closer to Fine” was featured at a key moment in last summer’s “Barbie” and a new documentary about their lives and careers, “Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All,” premiered at Sundance and will be released theatrically by Oscilloscope Laboratories.

When it was first announced that "Frasier" would be resurrected for a reboot, I think a lot of us had the same thought: again? Not that the beloved "Cheers" spinoff, which ran for 11 glorious seasons on NBC between 1993 and 2004, had already been rebooted once before, but that it feels like everything else has. From classics like "Hawaii Five-o" and "Dynasty" to hour-long dramas like "Veronica Mars" and "Prison Break," to dozens of sitcoms, like "Full House" (rebranded "Fuller House"), "Will & Grace," "The Connors" (a reboot/spinoff of "Roseanne"), "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" ... you get the picture.
The witty, quippy, debonair world of Seattle psychologist and radio personality Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) belongs to a rarefied universe of '90s TV dynamite, including "Friends," "Seinfeld," and "In Living Color," none of which have been rebooted. Would taking the paddles to Daphne, Roz, and Niles denude them of their charms?...

At the risk of overgeneralizing, why is it that cheapie musicals are so much more charming to watch on screen than they are when some friend invites you to whatever way-off-Broadway show they’ve managed to get mixed up in? Heck, these tiny film projects are often more endearing than the relatively big-budget ones the Hollywood studios produce. I’ll take “Colma” over “Cats” any day, and would watch “Once” ten times before sitting through “Into the Woods” again.
Big and bombastic works great on stage, but tends to look garish and awkward on screen, whereas scrappy tuners somehow feel more sincere when the camera can go in for a closeup, à la “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and “Hello Again.” That strategy — of letting the actors’ faces sell the emotion behind frequently corny lyrics — saves the day in Jack Danini’s “Ode to Passion,” a micro-budget contemporary rock musical...

Do you like lists? Well, here’s a doozy. Below is everything coming to Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu and Amazon Prime in June 2020.
Though the summer sun is starting to beat down, most of us are still being encouraged to stay indoors for Covid-19 related reasons. It’s not much fun, but at the very least, there’s an absolute ton of stuff landing in June that should distract you from the call of the beach.
Of particular note is the newly launched HBO Max, which is trying to catch the eye of potential subscribers with a red-hot first month. There’s an excellent selection of movies coming on June 1st, with horror titles like An American Werewolf in London (still the best werewolf movie ever made), Final Destinations 1-4, From Dusk til Dawn and Lifeforce.

Welcome to the HBO Max era! WarnerMedia’s streaming giant arrived on May 27 and is absolutely bursting with Warner movies, TV shows, and other titles. But time waits for no man or streaming service and each new month HBO Max will be expected to bring new content to the table. Things get started in June 2020 with the first batch of HBO Max new releases.
To be clear, the majority of the original series coming to HBO Max actually belongs to HBO. Shows like I May Destroy You (June 7), Perry Mason (June 21), and I’ll Be Gone in the Dark (June 28) all belong to HBO…which now just happens to be a part of HBO Max. Confusing stuff, we know, but rest assured that if you have HBO Max you’ll get these shows…and if you only have HBO, you can go ahead and just get HBO Max for the same price anyway.

Eminem is dropping his new album just in time for the holidays.
The reclusive rapper has been making headlines in recent months in anticipation of the release of his latest album, Revival -- first with an attention-grabbing freestyle calling out President Donald Trump, and then with an impressive set of performances as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live earlier this month.
Meanwhile, he's also been running a surprisingly low-key viral marketing campaign designed around making Revival sound like a miracle prescription drug.
The unusual alternate-reality advertising strategy has including several fake commercials promoting the faux-pharmaceutical, complete with a working telephone number that interested viewers could call for more (even more confusing) information.
On Tuesday, the 45-year-old artist revealed the release date of his upcoming album in a short, fourth-wall-breaking clip he shared to Twitter, featuring the same handsome spokesman that appeared in previous Revival ads.

Chris here. Even the most niche of cinema is getting sequelized these days. Remember Don Hertzfeldt's masterwork animated short World of Tomorrow? Of course you do. The mini-major was an unforgettable science-fiction mix of rudimentary and complex visuals with equal bits silliness and profundity, and gained as much popularity as any short film in recent memory. Well we'll get to revisit Emily Prime for Hertzfeldt's follow-up, World of Tomorrow Episode Two: The Burden of Other People's Thoughts.
Hertzfeldt has been teasing the new short on Twitter for a few months and it played Fantastic Fest to equally high praise as its predecessor. Could this mean that Hertzfeldt could be back in the Oscar shorts race again after losing two years ago? The bigger question might actually be found in the film's not-so-short title: is Hertzfeldt planning an entire saga on Emily Prime or is "episode" simply a cheeky word choice?...

Hello again, and welcome to the recently resurrected Panel Discussion. I’m Kieran, and every week I’m going to go through some of the best comics of the week to give you an idea what you should pick up that you might have missed. This is another stacked week with some fantastic first issues and great jumping on points for books you might be behind on, so let’s take a look at what’s on offer.
You probably already know this because it’s one of the big buzz books of the year, but the best comic this week by a long stretch is Tom King and Mitch Gerads’ Mister Miracle #1 which is a thought-provoking and unsettlingly down-to-Earth take on one of Jack Kirby’s greatest creations. This issue will certainly leave you with more questions than answers, but it’s important to know that you don’t...

Hello again, you two. Netflix has released the first official trailer for Ritesh Batra's new film Our Souls at Night, a new romantic drama starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda, who have appeared together four times in films, starting with Barefoot in the Park over fifty years ago. The story is about two people who are neighbors in a small town in Colorado, but had little contact. They finally connect and romance sparks, as they try to make the most of the rest of the time they have. In addition to Redford and Fonda, the film stars Bruce Dern, Matthias Schoenaerts, Judy Greer and Iain Armitage. This teaser trailer doesn't show much at all, but it is a nice teaser and is just enough for me to be interested. I'll be catching this at the Venice Film Festival where it will premiere soon, and I'm looking forward to some sweet,...

In terms of big debuts, this week’s runaway hit is Kyle Starks and Gabo’s Dead of Winter #1 from Oni Press. Since I can’t think of any “aca-” puns, I’ll just come right out and tell you that the trailer for “Pitch Perfect 3” is here and you should maybe watch it if you’re so inclined. The supposedly franchise-capping installment finds the Bellas as directionless college grads looking to return to the comfort of their beloved acapella group, which leads them to perform at a Uso show that’ll totally end differently than all their previous competitions. Watch below.

The biggest release of the week again goes to DC Comics for Tom King, David Finch, Danny Miki and Jordie Bellaire’s Batman #25 which kicks off the massive new storyline, “The War of Jokes and Riddles”. It feels like absolutely ages since we got a great straightforward Joker story or a great straightforward Riddler story so getting both at the same time feels like an absolute treat. Not only that, but the story has already promised to bring in players from all over Gotham including Deathshot, Deathstroke and of course, Kite-Man. This is going to go down as an iconic Batman story that you’re not going to want to miss out on, so grab this issue today.
The second big release of the week is Chip Zdarksy and Adam Kubert’s Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #1 which is conveniently timed to come out just weeks before the brand new motion picture. Zdarsky proved that he had the skill to write Spider-Man in the pages of Howard The Duck and his love for the character is evident, even if he dunks on him constantly. While one of Marvel’s top-tier artists, Adam Kubert is underrated as a Spidey penciller even though his work on Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine was one of the best Spider-Man comics of the past decade. While he does great work here, his classic superhero style doesn’t quite gel with Zdarsky’s comedy chops but each creator has tweaked their traditional style to accommodate their collaborator in new ways, which is always the sign of a great book.
If you’ve been sleeping on Dan Abnett’s run on Aquaman this week’s Aquaman #25 is a brilliant jumping on point thanks to the arrival of Stjepan Šejić who breathes new life into the underwater world of Atlantis as a deposed Arthur Curry grows a sweet looking beard and tries to get his throne back. Šejić is an artist known for his love of DC Comics characters thanks to his prolific fan-art output and it’s a massive surprise they haven’t recruited him sooner. Abnett has been building a long-form story in the pages of Aquaman to rival his work on Guardians of the Galaxy and Legion of Super-Heroes so this is a jumping on point you absolutely don’t to miss.
Lastly, I have to shout-out Image Comics’s new release, Shirtless Bear Fighter (Shirtless Bear Fighter #1 review)by Jody Leheup, Sebastian Girner, Mike Spicer and Nil Vendrell, which is exactly what it says on the tin. It feels like a throwback to the Image Comics of ten years ago that didn’t quite have the identity it does now and was trying a bunch of new stuff that led to comics like Proof and Firebreather and if that’s the sort of thing you’re into or just if the name catches your eye, you’ll want to at least give this first issue a shot and see if it’s for you/
That’s it for me this week but there’s still a great number of awesome comics on the stands for you to check out. Happy reading everyone, and I’ll see you all next week!

Marvel’s most-recent X-Men relaunch has been a big hit, at least for me, and its the ancillary titles that are really standing out ahead of the main two flagship books. The prodigal Haas brother re-enters the action after a call and several (unanswered) texts from Shelby, who’s worried that Clay has lost his way and is thinking about shutting down the slow-to-deliver taskforce.
By the end of the hour, it’s clear that Caleb will be around for at least another week. (Of course, TVLine readers knew that a while back.) Is the blond-on-blond magic still there? Or has Shelby moved on to another Haas man?...

Need to catch up? Check out the previous Grimm recap here.
If this week’s Grimm has a lesson to impart, it’s that even when you’re fighting heinous evil, there’s always time for a little slapstick.
While the supernatural drama doesn’t go full Three Stooges on us in “Oh Captain, My Captain” — there is, after all, a power-hungry mayor-elect to take down — it certainly saved its zaniest installment in recent memory for star David Giuntoli to direct.
It’s a little silly, sure, but it’s also fun to see Grimm ham it up a little in its final season.

Hello again, dear readers. This week sees the release of Suicide Squad, the latest DC Comics film adaptation. In the meantime, the latest Trailer Trashin’ is my quick take on some of the major movie trailers to come out of the recent San Diego Comic-Con.
Doctor Strange
Premise: After Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), the world’s top neurosurgeon, is injured in a car accident that ruins his career, he sets out on a journey of healing, where he encounters the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), who becomes Strange’s mentor in the mystic arts.
My take: After the huge superhero brawl of Captain America: Civil War earlier this summer, the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe takes things in a very different direction. This is an exposition-heavy trailer, laying out the basics of who Doctor Strange is and the nature of his powers to help general audiences get on-board with...
