Bad, unless you get the Rifftrax version
grnhair200124 April 2017
This is one of those terrible movies that is really good for the guys at RiffTrax to skewer. In my opinion there is still a lot of mileage to be gotten out of "teens in the woods encounter evil possessed killer" plots. But this thing is just such a mess! Other people have blamed the actors, the costumer, the director, the scriptwriter. I'll take a new approach and blame the editor. I see an outside possibility that the script was coherent, but that the editor rendered it into an incoherent mess.

The truth is, after watching the riffed version five times, I still don't quite understand what was going on in the movie. The "rules" of fantasy and horror don't need to make real-world sense, but these rules have to be explained clearly, and then stuck to, and make internal sense. The filmmakers failed at all this.

There is a lot to laugh at here. The wolf attack that did not include a wolf, the terrible acting of the "novelist," the assumption that college students play a lot of hide and seek and truth or dare still, the non- Indian, and everyone mispronouncing the word "wolf."

Poor Corey Haim. Being molested as a kid actor by producers, his drug addiction, and this movie. There must be a special place in the afterlife for someone who suffered that much.

Don't Blame Haim!
jeffronthi8 August 2008
You knew what you were getting into when you saw the cover, right? No? Caught it on late-night? I'm sorry to hear that...

We can not blame the actors here. No, this is sloppy, horrific, editing and direction. The director it would seem had a hard time coaxing the best from his actors, who, while not overtly talented, could've been motivated and bumped to do better. Sloppy direction combined with useless editing (some of the worst I've seen), wrecked this movie from attaining B-flick status. Still...

This is good for laughs (see the getting pulled over sequence) no doubt about it. From the goofy Indian (played by a white dude), to that mildly retarded wolf, over to the wretched make-up. The script is dreadful...and that's a good thing if you're looking for fun.

I have, believe it or not, seen worse. Just look at any of Feldman's work circa '95.

I don't know...rent it if you are a Haim or Slater fan, or just into awful productions.

Haiming It Up.
refinedsugar13 June 2001
Warning: Spoilers
Some people say if somethings bad, there's no need to go on about it. With Fever Lake, I respectively disagree.

It all starts one dark night as a young boy watches from the attic as his mother is murdered by a man (possibly his father) who we see is possessed by the "evil" of the lake. (This is indicated quite clearly by the green, evil glow in his eyes.) Flash forward to sometime in the future. We're introduced to a college school setting and a quick intro leads to Corey Haim (yes one of the "Corey's") and Mario Lopez (of TV's "Saved By The Bell"). Seems Haim has a country home up in Fever Lake so he invites some male buddies (including an oversexed idiot) and a trio of girls (two airheads by definition) up for the weekend. Of course, they know nothing of the strange events that happened at this house in Fever Lake. Sure, right, whatever.

Meanwhile the local sheriff has his hands full with Clear Springs. He's the local native American Indian (played by a white dude?) who knows the evil is coming back. He warns the sheriff again and again, but to no avail as naturally the sheriff thinks he's nutty. Plus he's busy tugging up his pants that seem to be weighed down by his gun belt (which seems to be a full-time job in itself). Not that it matters the sheriff is a classic cliché. By horror movie definition, sheriffs have to ignore any warnings especially those from spiritual Indians. Just wonderful.

Most predictably weird things start going down. Cars are acting oddly and there's an evil foreboding grey wolf stalking the woods. Meanwhile Haim's having these mind trips into the evil of Fever Lake that the local townsfolk won't talk about. Rack up another cliché. Of course, there's always someone willing to talk about it ... explain it to an audience that's assumed to be too stupid to put it together for themselves. They drop this "innocent" bit in dialog that tells us Haim's character is an orphan. Like before I was told that, I wasn't supposed to have figured out yet that Haim's character was that young boy from the beginning all along.

Hack, hack, scream, scream. A false scare or two. Making out, then dying. Panicking, then dying. Running off and dying. Wiping down car windows (!!!) and dying. The evil gets stronger, the Indian's fires burn brighter, he scream, more of the evil wolf. Then the "shocking" ending that's cheating on the part of the writers. Don't be deceived by the movie box either. It's not even scary. You'd have to watch the movie to find that out. Maybe now you won't.

a remarkably stupid movie
dutchchocolatecake18 July 2014
I am not a movie snob - I am always on the lookout for low budget indie gems that are well made for their budget and talent pool.

This is not one of them.

I watched this because I like Corey Haim. I wanted to like this movie because he was in it. But I can't. I just can't. This movie is so bad, I don't think putting all my favorite actors in it would have made a difference.

Corey Haim, Mario Lopez, and Lauren Parker were the only ones who seemed to know how to act. Everyone else seemed wooden and out of place. When a dangerous moment was supposed to be happening, everyone ran like they were out on a leisurely Sunday jog. The pacing of the story can be described the same way, which made me keep checking the time to see how much I had left.

There is literally nothing redeemable about this movie. Nothing in the script is written very well. Not the characters, not the plot, absolutely nothing. The only back story that exists is with one of the main characters, and it's the one you can tell from the beginning who the perp is going to end up being. They give it all away from the start. There is no real mystery or reason for the audience to engage with the story at all.

It's a completely pointless slasher flick. But wait! Aren't there a lot of pointless slasher flicks that are still entertaining? Sure there are - and compared to this movie, they are Oscar winners.

I don't have a problem with movies that employ a lot of ambiance. This is one example where manufacturing ambiance doesn't do any justice whatsoever. There is zero skill in camera angles. Even the music is awful. The costumes would make K-Mart designers go on prozac. It's like they went to a church bazaar, bought a mystery box and dressed themselves blindfolded. I know it's 1996, but even by 1996 standards they were dressed pretty horribly.

There's a lot of reviewers that believe this movie must have been made in the early 1980s, THAT IS HOW BAD THEY ARE DRESSED.

This movie is a total waste. It's a waste of time, a waste of celluloid, a waste of bandwidth, and it's even a waste to have a profile dedicated to this movie on IMDb. It's a waste of an hour and a half of your life.

RIP Corey Haim - even you couldn't save this piece of crap movie.

Hide and Seek at Mystic Lake (running time: 20 minutes)
Vomitron_G27 January 2009
Okay, forget what I said in my user-comment for AMITYVILLE: DOLLHOUSE (1996). That movie might fail to impress, but it's stuff like FEVER LAKE that perfectly displays everything that's supposedly wrong with the 90's horror decade. Even Corey Haim and Bo Hopkins could not have saved such a dull and boring, unimaginative and uneventful, clichéd and generic movie without tense, scares and atmosphere. It's still better to not impress than to impress in a very bad way, the latter being what FEVER LAKE is good at.

Technically, it might not be the worst movie ever made. Far from, probably. But it's just so not worthy of anybody's time.

We get a prologue-scene (set in 1940), that had me vaguely remembering the opening-scene from MIRROR MIRROR (1990). Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, as MIRROR MIRROR isn't really a bad movie. But then FEVER LAKE turns into total boredom for more than an hour, with three teen-couples spending some time in a house at a lake. During that, some pointless Indian mysticism is hinted at (some story about an evil spirit in the lake). Only one kill, by a force unseen in the woods (was that supposed to be a wolf possessed by the Evil Spirit?), which involves nothing more than a girl getting some blood smeared in her face. I have no idea why she had to die, really. Absolutely nothing significant happens, not even something remotely exciting.

The only thing that could have saved this movie, was taking the first 5 minutes long prologue sequence and just glue it onto the last 15 minutes (simply throwing that whole hour in between out of the window, as it is forgettable, useless material). Then you'll have a nice little horror-short, that will pleasantly make not the slightest bit of sense, but still is worth a watch because of some mildly entertaining make-up effects near the end. You could call the short-film "Hide and Seek at Mystic Lake". Why this title? Well, the last 15 minutes begin when the teens foolishly decide to go play hide & seek. Some teens get killed. A gross-looking possessed girl (that's my guess, at least) enters the ring. The Indian makes another cameo appearance to warn the frustrated sheriff. Corey Haim provides a misleading (or should I say "incomprehensible") shock ending. And... "The End". All this in 20 minutes that could actually evoke the impression that this strangely confusing short just might have enough interesting elements to base a good, coherent script on that could be turned into a halfway decent full length feature. But now, we have about 90 minutes of nothing, really.

Some people have described FEVER LAKE as some sort of tedious teen-slasher version of THE SHINING (1980). Really, folks, you're giving this movie way too much credit. It's just a snooze-fest at the lake. And if you, by any chance, just can't resist watching something with Indian mumbo-jumbo in it, then why not THE CELLAR (1989)? There, now you have three movies in this comment (minus THE SHINING, of course) that are infinitely more entertaining than FEVER LAKE. And they're not even good movies. This pretty much sums it up, me thinks.

Was on set when filming this horrible horror flick
jfwilder19 August 2005
This film, in addition to being filmed in Lake Mary, Wisconsin was also filmed at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI. At the time they filmed this I was the student center manager there and basically acted as property manager.

In the credits near the end are two names "special thanks to" and I'm one of them.

I think the funniest thing about this film was that it came out shortly after ShowGirl did...and when I asked Mario Lopez what he thought about the her in that film he just alluded to her looks and that she's as dumb as a box of rocks...but hot! Scenes were filmed all around the campus, including in the gymnasium, locker room, track and cafeteria. One specific scene is outdoors from the cafeteria on a deck that, in reality, is never used for anything by the students in general. I suggested they use that with a nice view over Lake Michigan and they took me up on it since they needed a scene where Corey walks up on it.

The track scene filming was hilarious in that everybody there was faster than Corey was in running. They yelled at anyone who even came close to keeping up with him to fall back and make it look like that little guy could actually keep up and win. Interesting angles they take on that to make him look taller than he is....he's really short. I was in the background also in the stands as they ran buy...I can only see my legs in the shot as they run by them. It took all day just to film that short segment and the one leading up to it with people walking down a hill toward a fence near the track.

There was supposed to be a nude shower scene, but that must have ended up on the cutting room floor. They were pretty tight as far as letting anyone in to the locker room when filming that one...other than that you could walk up anywhere they were shooting it very easily. The director was a decent guy too...really down-to-earth.

Also, I've never realized Corey was such a "yes man", always seeming to really kiss up to the director like if he didn't, he'd get fired or something. "Yes, sir", "right away, sir"...really formal and brown-noser like. Maybe that's why he is mostly in straight-to-video flicks like this...which is was the intent was. This was to be released only in Europe where he has a bigger fan base, and was straight to video (if you can even find that) in the US.

I've seen a lot worse movies than this one, and do wish sometime that Corey would start to act his age and get into another real movie. Even when this one was just released, it was next to impossible to find it. I watched it once...that was enough.

That's Right It's That Pitiful.
adrianmbruner29 January 2006
This rambling incoherent disaster of a movie has nothing good to be said about it. The pointless script makes it that much tougher to swallow as well as the actors wandering aimlessly without a hint of chemistry between them. Corey Haim is the supposed "name" in the film, followed by the unforgettable Mario Slater. And who could dismiss Michael Wise in his spellbinding performance as the Indian, not only do they try to convince us that he is an Indian, but our ears are forced to listen to his laughable accent. Overall, it's a cheap, poorly edited, and most of all unintentionally hilarious. But if your in the mood for laughing at a really, really, shitty movie then Fever Lake is your final destination.

Fever Lake- Bad film, good acting
ehollendoner19 May 2002
Fever Lake certainly does not measure up to any of the classic horror films out there. However, there is one actress in the whole film, who stood out far above the rest- Mila Chagall. The strength of Mila's acting surpassed even that of the "stars" of the film, Bo Hopkins and Corey Haim. She was believable without being campy, and in my opinion carried the whole film.

You're better off watching paint dry, because that's about as exciting as this movie gets
callanvass14 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I think I'd rather have a fever, in lieu of watching this again. Not only does it move as slow as molasses, but barely anything happens until the final 15-20 minutes (!) We get a decent opening, which reminded me a bit of The Shining, a relatively bloodless dog attack, and plenty of uninteresting dialog, but that's about it. There are way too many scenes with the characters meandering aimlessly. This movie is heavy on the supernatural mumbo-jumbo. I can't begin to tell you how irritated I would get at the white Indian character, Clear Springs (Michael Wise) He pops up conveniently whenever there is trouble, but he's there to warn people. He also gives one of the worst performances I've ever seen in my life. He gives these stoic facial expressions, and looks like he's reading his lines off a cue card. It's also extremely cheap with a shot on video like feel. The director tries to be fancy at times, which I will give him credit for, considering the low budget, but he forgets to add thrills and suspense. With all of the supernatural stuff going on, there sure isn't anything scary. We get some laughable looking, green, glowing eyes on people, whenever they are possessed. There isn't much gore to speak of, either. We get a bloodless dog attack, and a woman melting at the end, along with blood splashes. Corey Haim isn't terrible, but he looks uninterested at times in the material. He was going through major drug problems at this juncture, and I assume this was for a much needed paycheck. He does have a great moment in the ending, but that's about it. If you look closely enough, it's not hard to figure out his shy character. I like Corey Haim a lot, but it wasn't all that great of a performance. Mario Lopez is embarrassingly bad. His character hardly does anything. Mario resorts to cheap mugging, and flashing that cheesy grin of his, basically many things that worked extremely well in Saved by The Bell. This isn't A.C Slater bro. Try branching out a bit. Bo Hopkins is actually very good as the sheriff, but this movie is beneath him, and doesn't deserve his talents. I'll give it two compliments. It has some excellent cinematography, and the twist ending, while predictable, was actually fairly well done. By the time it came my interest was LONG gone.

Final Thoughts: I watched this for Corey Haim. He was a gifted talent, and it's a shame about his addictions. This movie doesn't deserve him, nor does it deserve your time. R.I.P Corey, you deserved better.

No fever, not much of the lake and lots of Corey Haim and Mario Lopez...
Aaron137517 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I did not have high hopes for this one, but I still think this film managed to go below my expectations. This might have something to do with the fact that the makers of this film did not seem to have any idea what the movie was about, why any of it was happening and thought that simply putting dry ice in a lake would be scary. So much going on and none of it all that horrific until the film does manage to at least spring a gooey effect near the end as this is one of those horror films that drags on and then kills most of the characters in a fifteen minute window at the end. So be prepared to watch college kids have the most boring party ever before we get a completely plotless final act.

The story first shows us this grisly murder from years ago and then we flash ahead as Corey Haim and Mario Lopez along with an annoying dude invite three ladies to a house where a bunch of horrifying crap happened. An Indian warns the town's sheriff that the evil will be coming, but the sheriff ignores the man's warnings. Deaths will come quick as everything tries to wrap up quickly and then they will spurt out something about only two girls found leaving us to not care what happened to the really annoying girl who wanted to be a novelist because we are just glad the film is over!

The main star of this one is Corey Haim and his buddy is Mario Lopez. Kind of surprised that Corey Feldman did not play in this movie as this was the decade the Corey's had a really bad time. The girls are okay, but the cutest one was the girl in town that worked at the diner. Absolutely hated the writer girl and I cringed when the one girl was making out with the dork of the group. Bo Hopkins is in this and he is almost the same sheriff character he was in Mutant.

In the end, this film was pretty bad. The effect with the writer girl at the end was okay, but at the same time, why was it happening? What was the deal with Corey's character and what did any of this have to do with evil in the lake? Very little gore going on here as I think this thing was PG-13, and with that comes no nudity. Not sure why, as back in the day a PG film could have nudity, but at a certain point it became confined to R rated films. Check out the original Clash of the Titans, you had full frontal and butt cheeks and it was rated PG. This film, PG-13 and the best we get is a bikini and a few mild kills and a wolf that kills a girl, but isn't really there? Still not sure if that was intentional or if they were making it look like the wolf was attacking by trying to do fast cuts, but it most certainly was not in the frame with the girl.

Early Eighties Slasher Films Revisited
bob wolf13 May 2000
After reading the user comments for Fever Lake I had to ask myself why do people hate this movie so much? It's really not that bad. If you were as much of a sucker for those early eighties slasher films like Friday The 13th or Sleepaway Camp, as I was, then you will probably adore this movie.

Director Portillo, borrows from countless horror films to construct a very good, unpredictable and atmospheric little film. The plot starts out like so many of those other slasher flicks, you know, a group of young twenty-something's head up to an abandoned cabin in the woods. The cabin sits on the outskirts of the lake of the title. As the film progresses we learn more about the strange history of the cabin and the lake. The suspense builds slowly and just when you think you've figured out who the killer is, or might be, nope, you're wrong.

The only problem with the film that I saw was a technical one. The editing could have been better but it does improve as the film goes on.

Corey Haim is excellent, offering a brilliant, slightly on-edge character who comes across as shy and dangerous at the same time. Watch for the ending where Haim goes through an entire range of emotions in a single scene. He goes from violent and angry to scared and child-like in one shot. Bo Hopkins is also good, playing a sheriff... again. Mario Lopez(Saved By The Bell) appears but doesn't have much to say.

Don't over analyze this film and you might enjoy it.

The Evil has Come!
kapelusznik181 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** Slasher movie involving six over sexed collage students who take a weekend trip out in the country to "Fever Lake" for fun and games and end up, as in most of these brainless teenage and collage students movies, the victims of this mysterious slasher who feels that they've invaded his space. We get a glimpse of what's to come within the first few minutes of the film with this crazed green eyed and possessed by the devil looking lunatic breaking into a house and brutally hacking the death this woman with her 6 years old son hiding in the attic. It's now some 15 years later where we see these collage students planning to take a leisurely trip into the country to chill out from all their day and night studying for their final examinations.

Lead by the studious Albert played by the late Corey Haim the students stopping off at a local diner are told by the people there to stay away from "Fever Lake" in that, "like Crystal Lake of the Friday the 13th movies", there's a deranged lunatic running around there who's over the years hacked to death some dozen persons. Eevn when the waitress of the Diner Lila,Lindsey Brooke, is later found ripped apart by this gray wolf, the first one seen in those parts in over 100 years, they still go on their merry way to "Fever Lake" hoping to take in the sun and go fishing. It's the town Sheriff Harris, played by Bo Hopkins, who tries to get the students to cancel their trip to "Fever Lake" knowing full well that there's death awaiting them there. But as usual in him dealing with lame brains like them that's way over their heads and to no avail.

***SPOILERS***It's the local wise man clear thinking and Native American Indian Clere Springs, Michael Wise, who does his damnedest to prevent the impending slaughter from happening by doing a number of what looked like rain dances to keep, as he called it, the evil from surfacing or bubbling up from under the dark waters "Fever Lake". No matter how hard Clear Spring tried nobody not even Sharrif Harris listened and the inevitable butchery that he tried to prevent happened with all the students but Albert ending up as chopped and hamburger meat. Albert or Cory Haim for his part in being the star of the movie was given a , by the movie makers, stay of execution so that like with Jason in "Friday the 13th" he'd be available for the film, "Fever Lake", sequel. Which in it having bombed out at the box office happily never came.

Not bad
SublimeGuy28 June 2001
When Fever Lake came out on video, my family and I rented it, because it was filmed in my home town. The town my father grew up in, and family still lives there. Twin Lakes, Wisconsin is such a small place it's not even a town, it is a village. So we all thought it would be cool, and we recognized a lot of places. "Fever Lake" is actually called "Lake Mary". You might think the movie would be good with Corey Haim and Mario Lopez who played "Slater" on "Saved By The Bell". This movie wasn't bad but it lacked something , and it wasn't the actors. Anyone who has seen the actors portraying other roles know that they can act. All in all, it was cool to see my home town in a movie(I still live 20 minutes away from it). One of the good parts(which it has a few) was the twist ending, sort of like "The Twilight Zone". If you feel like you've seen everything there is rent this movie, when you're in the mood for different cheesy horror movie. I'm not calling it a good or bad flick, because that is for everybody to decide with their own opinions. That's all I gotta say 'bout that. Peace. I'm out.

"Once the spirit leaves the lake there's no stopping it." Terrible film.
poolandrews7 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Fever Lake tells the tale of six teenage high school friends, Albert (Corey Haim), Steve (Mario Lopez), Bobby (Randy Josselyn) along with Sarah (Lauren Parker), Danielle (Mary-Rachel Foot) & Christy (Mattie Samradek as Mathea Webb) who all decide to spend the weekend at a house by a lake, set up by Albert they all plan to party & have fun out in the sticks away from the big city. However once there they get a strange unnerving vibe from the local townspeople, they find out that the house & lake have several ancient legends surrounding them & that evil things happen there. The six friends aren't interested in such superstitious nonsense though & intend to have a good time. Unfortunately for them the legends are true as evil things happen once more in the house by the lake...

Co-produced & directed by Ralph E. Portillo I hated Fever Lake, I guess it just about has everything I hate in a film. The script by Michael Edwards is as slow & boring as they come, after the obligatory opening (off screen) murder the next 50 odd minutes of Fever Lake introduces the six teenage character's & the fact that they are going to spend a weekend in a house by a lake which has Indian legends attached to it, seriously that's the entire first 50 minutes, nothing else of any significance happens at all. This thing is a complete total & utter snooze-fest, I've seen some pretty boring & uneventful films in my time but Fever Lake is right up there the absolute worst of them! If you can stay awake long enough to see the ending you shouldn't have bothered because personally I didn't think it made any sense, a conversation at the end suggests that only two females were found dead yet there should have been three, right I get that bit but so the hell what? What's the problem? Why the stupid close up on the woman's worried eyes? We never see where the third female went or why she wouldn't be dead & I just don't see what point the filmmakers are trying to make, I really don't. What about the guy in the back of the police car whose eyes start to glow bright green, isn't that meant to be the shock ending? Reading some of the comments on the IMDb I was surprised that many refer to the 'shock' or 'twist' ending, well I don't see any twist or shock ending at all, did I miss something? It was obvious who the kid with green eyes at the beginning was since it was 'his' house & he was an orphan. Anyway, I hate this film, it's slow, it takes itself way too seriously, the character's are awful & the story is both predictable & unoriginal. Interestingly Fever Lake was released the same year as Scream (1996) which revitalised the horror genre, comparing the two in terms of story & basic entertainment value Fever Lake feels like it belongs in the stone-age. Oh well, that's another 100 odd minutes of my life wasted I suppose...

Director Portillo does nothing to liven things up, he directs at an absolute snails pace & Fever Lake really is one of the dullest films I've ever seen. It makes watching paint dry sound like fun. There's no scares, no atmosphere or tension & the horror elements are just lame. There's a distinct lack of bloodshed as well, as far as I saw there was an off screen axe murder at the start, a stupid bit when a woman is murdered but you just see her face with a few drops of blood on it & I have no idea how she died & a Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) rip-off where two lovers are impaled, this time with an axe which in the scene in question at first goes right through both of them & lodges in the floor beneath the bed but when the murderer goes back to reclaim the axe a few scenes later it's only stuck in the guys back an inch or two. Overall Fever Lake is very tame & won't satisfy anyone looking for the red stuff.

It's with an element of surprise that I report to you that technically Fever Lake actually ain't too bad at all & to give it some credit where it's due it's quite well made with some decent photography, it certainly doesn't look as cheap as some straight-to-video low budget crap horror films that I've suffered through. It's still a really crap film though. The acting is predictably bad, Bo 'I'll appear in any crap for rent money' Hopkins slums it as the local Sheriff while it probably finished off both Haim's & Lopez's careers, if they ever had ones to start with.

Fever Lake is a really awful teen horror that has no redeeming features or positive aspects at all, I pretty much hated it & I'm glad I caught it on TV rather than have to spend any of my hard earned money on it. Do yourself a favour & give this boring turkey a miss. Apparently also available in an edited version known as Demon Kid, I have no idea why.

Nothing Happens
merrywater1 January 2015
Yes, if you like to see a superficially nicely shot, and rather decently acted, movie that actually concerns...nothing, this would be an adequate choice. This movie was made for video, and in a strictly technical comparison, it doesn't give you, say, the sense of 80s "cheesiness".

It starts out with a man entering his wife's bedroom with an ax, just like in The Shining. Then the man explains to his son that there's a curse. So far so good.

Thereafter we follow a group of high school kids who are going to a Camp Something, just like in Friday the 13th, and everybody persistently states that everything's "creepy". This statement is indicated, for there's nothing happening on the screen getting the viewer to tremble with fear.

Basically, nothing in particular happens until the last 15 min, when most of the high school kids are haphazardly killed. Well, they had to be, otherwise this wouldn't be labeled a horror flick at all.

Worst among worst
Everum21 November 1998
I saw this last night and by god is it so damn awful. This movie exemplifies what it takes to have such poor acting and direction. The actors, pardon me, guys and girls on the film, acted SOOO bad, and the direction! Ugh! To add to it, the classic stupidity of characters in most horror films exist here as well adding to the total dismay of the movie. I don't know how dumb can characters get but if you want to laugh, watch this.

There is absolutely no reason to watch this disaster.

Warning: Spoilers
I honestly hate rating any movie the dreaded 1/10. In some respects, giving a 1/10 to a bad movie is taking the easy way out. I do my very best to find something positive to say. As hard as I try, I can't do that with Fever Lake. The only glimmer of anything remotely positive I can come up with is the marginally decent acting on the part of Lauren Parker. But she's not good enough to raise the rating. Overall, Fever Lake is a dull, lifeless, mess of a movie. I have a hard time understanding why it was even made. There is absolutely no reason to watch this disaster.

So, what makes Fever Lake so bad? Acting – Horrible. Mario Lopez never could act and Corey Haim gives the laziest performance I think I've ever seen. Plot – Unoriginal. Gee, a group of college age kids heads off to a house on a lake – wonder what's going to happen? Direction – Uninspired. Ralph Portillo brings nothing new to the genre. Special effects – Lame. It's easy to see there was no budget for Fever Lake. Music – Annoying. Whoever wrote the score should be taken out and shot. Treatment of Native Americans – Insulting. Not only does a white dude play the part of Clear Springs, he does so in a ridiculously stereotypical stilted speech pattern. Sets and costuming – Unremarkable. The whole things looks like it might have been filmed in my neighbor's house with the clothes found in their closet. Characters – Stupid. These are some of the most idiotic people put on film.

This list could go on and on. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. Again, as much as I hate doing it, I cannot in good conscience rate Fever Lake anything but a 1/10.

Lake Dud
What isn't wrong with this movie? First of all, lets start with the ridiculous use of stock footage from a discovery channel program about wolves, terribly edited into the movie. Next... the use of a white man in the role of the Indian, who by the way, couldn't act a lick. We also see some of the worst acting from the worst assemblance of has-beens. Corey Haim and Mario Lopez should immediately fire their agents. Nothing in this movie made any sense. Talk about huge plot holes! There is about 78 continuity errors. What power of evil are we dealing with here? The evil that bubbles from the lake has such random, ludicrous powers that control a wolf, can make cars mysteriously run out of gas, knows how to use a laptop computer and can turn our beloved Corey Haim into a raving psycho. This movie is the biggest bag over the head. There seems like there are four movies intertwined into one awful plot. Some scenes should have been left on the cutting room floor, especially any involving the incompetent police officer who wore the same jeans throughout the movie. Can we get a better wardrobe budget please! All in all, this movie looks like it cost $1000 to make and grossed even less. However, if you want a good laugh, watch this movie. You'll chuckle at the fact that Corey haim is 35 years old and once again playing a teenager. Will this guy ever escape typecasting? The sad fact is, the director didn't even think to shave Haim's dirtstache before shooting. This movie should have been called "Script should have been thrown in the lake". I actually felt nauseous after viewing this piece of garbage. I totally lost faith in the American filmmakers guild. I don't know how this movie made it to HBO or let alone was funded for. The more I think about it, the more it has become clear to me that everybody should see this movie just to laugh and realize that Hollywood is spuing us a huge pile of puke.

Too scary for the 193 people who have voted on it...

This is an over the top pilgrimage that also has the great acting skills of Mario Lopez. "Terror Weekend At Fever Lake" says it all. Okay, well maybe there is some Academy Award worthy acting and witty writing in this movie but Corey Haim's hair carries the film. Umm... they also must have signed a deal with Walmart because that's where the cast all got their clothes. I think these college students were too cool for school. So what the hell are you doing? Why aren't you watching this movie? If you liked E.T. you'd better buy this video.

Poor old (overwieght tired looking) Corey haim
kiefersutherlnd9-119 August 2006
I feel so sorry for Corey Haim. He reminded me of a young kiefer Sutherland in this film in movies such as 1969 and flat liners. He looks well in this just a shame he is in such a crappy movie. Still he is still the best Corey!!!He looks a little overweight in this movie but still looks far better than he did in demolition university, and that was only one year after this film. Why did he let his self go so badly. i could have seen him still being a star today in a TV show something if he hadn't went down the road of alcohol and drugs. But in closing the script was bad the direction was rubbish and A.C Slater was an annoying character. Still Go Corey!!!!!!!!

Script should have been thrown in the lake
culwin22 September 1999
A bad script, a bad director, and bad acting make this a bad movie all around. This is your generic teens-gone-camping horror flick, but couldn't they have done SOMETHING better with the script than this? There are so many plot holes and things that don't make any sense. About the only good thing I can say about this movie is they had a great special FX team. They put a fuzzy thing on Corey Haim's lip that almost looks like a moustache.

suspiciously spoilt movie

fever isa movie which was on TV the other night at about 3am. After watching this unsuspenseful movie I guessed at what rating it would get. This movie could have been good as the story in general is OK. The actors lines are cheesy and stupid. They make you feel like laughing. Also the makeup could have been a lot better as it looks fake. In one of the scenes their is an attack by a wolf and I don't know if you weren't supposed to see the wolf or what. The actiong was poor as well as they should have casted a real native American instead of a poor look alike. Although I believe this movie to be very poor and the acting to be acceptable but I kinda like it in a strange way. Thats why I feel it could have been made a lot better with a much bigger budget.
