“Agent 86,” a rare China-Tunisia coproduction film, will have its world premiere on Friday in Tunisia, ahead of a commercial release in Tunisian theaters from Sept. 25.
The film is pitched as “a fast-paced action thriller following an international Special Task Force that comes together to fight cross border drug trafficking after a devastatingly addictive drug named Devil’s Breath goes on sale in Hong Kong.”
The driving force behind the movie is Tunisian actor-director Bassem Khayati, who produced and directed the film and also appears as its co-lead.
Khayati is a veteran of several Jackie Chan movies including “Dragon Blade,” “Kung Fu Yoga” and “Vanguard,” as well as action roles in numerous other Chinese titles including “Fox Hunting,” “Mojin, The Lost Legend” and “Go Away Mr. Tumor.” In the west, Khayati has had various action and stunt roles in the John Cena-starring “Hidden Strike,” the Scott Adkins-starring “Abduction” and...

Olivia, a 21-year-old college student, was sitting in an English class at her Minnesota school last week when her professor began talking about the challenges in writing about traumatic events. But when he used 9/11 as an example, and described to the class how hectic things seemed that day, she realized just how she felt — or rather, didn’t feel — about the attacks. “Being terminally online is wild [because] someone mentioned 9/11 in my class today and I genuinely forgot that not everyone thinks it’s funny now,” she subsequently wrote in a...

Decades before Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones made headlines by not kissing at the end of "Twisters," another big screen non-kiss was the talk of Hollywood. In the 1993 film "The Pelican Brief," two stars who were skyrocketing to fame shared plenty of screen time and chemistry, but no climactic kiss.
Denzel Washington starred opposite Julia Roberts in the big screen adaptation of John Grisham's legal thriller novel. "The Pelican Brief" was the last film ever written and directed by "Klute" and "All the President's Men" filmmaker Alan J. Pakula, and it was a box office hit despite earning mixed reviews from critics. One point of contention? The lack of lip-locking closure between the two main characters, a decision that would be talked about extensively in the press –- especially once they caught wind of the reason an apparently planned kiss scene got axed.

Trafalgar Releasing and Mercury Studios have set a September 26 release for documentary One Hand Clapping, an opportunity for audiences to step back in time to 1974 with Paul McCartney and Wings.
The behind-the-scenes look delves into the making of the acclaimed One Hand Clapping album featuring rare footage, interviews with the band, insights from the creative team, and iconic Wings hits.
“It’s so great to look back on that period and see the little live show we did. We made a pretty good noise actually! It was a great time for the band, we started to have success with Wings, which had been a long time coming, said McCartney, whose exclusive filmed introduction will kick off the screenings along with previously unseen Polaroid photographs from the recording sessions.
The full documentary directed by David Litchfield will include previously unreleased Backyard Sessions, showcasing McCartney on acoustic guitar performing beloved tracks from his catalog.

The title One Hand Clapping, taken from a Japanese kōan, tells you nearly everything you need to know about Paul McCartney and Wings’ 1974 Abbey Road sessions: These performances are an event rarely seen and heard even less often. For years, you’ve had to imagine what didn’t leak out from the studio as bootlegs for yourself. Those who do know these session know them as greasy VHS transfers to YouTube and bonus tracks to Band on the Run and Venus and Mars reissues. In the past, McCartney fans would...

In the "Bewitched" episode "Sisters at Heart", the young Tabitha (Erin Murphy) brings home a new friend named Lisa (Venetta Rogers) to stay for a few days. Tabitha and Lisa have become very close very quickly, and refer to each other as sisters. Like with every episode of "Bewitched," Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) and Darrin (Dick Sargent) worry that the new social wrinkle in their lives will expose the fact that Samantha is an ancient, magic-practicing witch and that Tabitha also possesses eerie powers.
The drama of "Sisters at Heart," however, quickly extends past the show's usual shenanigans. A client of Darrin's, a bigoted toy manufacturer named Mr. Brockway (Parley Baer) swings by for a surprise in-home meeting. When he sees Lisa, he is outraged. Lisa is Black and Mr. Brockway, not having met Samantha, assumes that Darrin is married to a Black woman. Because he is evil, Mr. Brockway immediately...

For better or worse, Neverland Ranch is one of the most famous celebrity properties ever. Michael Jackson bought the ranch because of an experience he had while filming the music video for his Paul McCartney duet “Say Say Say.” “Say Say Say” stands out from his other collaborations with Paul for another reason.
Michael Jackson’s ‘Say Say Say’ was 1 of his multiple collaborations with Paul McCartney
Jermaine Jackson is the second most famous member of The Jackson 5. In his 2014 book You Are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother’s Eyes, Jermaine said his brother always wanted to collaborate with Paul. Paul wrote a song called “Girlfriend” that appeared on the album Off the Wall. In the 1980s, Paul and Michael released two hit duets together: “The Girl Is Mine” from Thriller and “Say Say Say” from Paul’s album Pipes of Peace. Only the latter has a music video.

Paul McCartney & Wings are finally offering a physical release of one of their most bootlegged albums: One Hand Clapping, the live studio sessions conducted post-Band on the Run in 1974 for a seldom-seen documentary film, will arrive everywhere on June 14th.
While several songs from One Hand Clapping eventually landed on subsequent Paul McCartney releases, this will be the first time the album is available in full. It was also the first Wings album recorded with a new lineup — Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough departed after Band on the Run, and were replaced by guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton for the One Hand Clapping sessions.
The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios over a span of four days while director David Litchfield filmed the documentary — which still hasn’t been released in an official capacity. Within the album’s 26 tracks are Paul McCartney & Wings favorites like “Live and Let Die...

Deadline reports a new sports documentary is being planned for kickboxing champion and martial arts movie star Benny “The Jet” Urquidez. The names associated with the production almost seems like a bingo announcer called out randomly drawn names from my favorite childhood movies. Keanu Reeves, who himself is no stranger to the martial arts world and action genre, has partnered with Fisher Stevens, who is known for projects like Short Circuit 1 & 2 and Hackers, to produce the documentary on Urquidez, whom I’ve talked about before on my Dragons Forever retrospective.
The documentary, which is titled The Jet, is currently in production with the Emmy-nominated sports documentary editor turned filmmaker, Jennifer Tiexiera, directing the film. Tiexiera has most recently also directed a three-part series for HBO called Unveiled: Surviving La Luz del Mundo, which has also recently been nominated for an Emmy in the catagory of Outstanding Crime and Justice Documentary.

In the early days of January, Universal Pictures closed the first major Hollywood deal of 2024 by pre-emptively purchasing the short story package Long Lost, with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners producing alongside Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon of Genre Pictures, as well as Scott Glassgold of Ground Control Entertainment. Colin Bannon, who previously wrote and directed the 2009 comedy Love Conquers Paul, is on board to write the screenplay adaptation of his own 50 page short story, which is said to be “in the vein of What Lies Beneath and Rosemary’s Baby“. Now Deadline reports that Universal has scored another Colin Bannon deal, pre-emptively purchasing his short story thriller package Don’t Look, with Janelle Monáe in talks to star and M3GAN, Malignant, and The Nun 2 writer Akela Cooper writing the screenplay, based on an unpublished Bannon short story.

Warning! The following piece contains Spoilers for Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” Season 1.
The long gestating live-action TV adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender has finally arrived on Netflix after years of build-up and fanfare. This new series aims to please fans of the beloved animated original and show that the franchise is in better hands than it was with the M. Night Shyamalan movie; while also bringing in a new audience more familiar with Netflix action dramas.
As such, while 2024’s Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the same plot beats as the original show’s Book 1, many have been expanded, condensed, combined, remixed or some combination of the four, while others have been removed altogether. To properly break down these changes, we’ll need to look at all eight episodes individually to see what’s changed and what’s stayed the same. Without further ado, let’s begin.

Professor Charles Xavier died in the 1997 series finale of “X-Men: The Animated Series.” As Jean Grey observed at the time, “Fate lies in our hands now.”
As fate would have it, Disney+ has revived the iconic Saturday morning cartoon — and its classic animation style — as a new series for 2024. The 10-episode “X-Men ’97” premieres March 20 on the streamer, and on Thursday, February 15, Disney+ treated us to the trailer.
Other than the addition of some new voice actors, not much has changed since the mid-90s. (The original “X-Men” ran from 1992-1997; “X-Men ’97” picks up shortly after the O.G. finale’s events.) The gang still travels in style via the X-Jet, Aka The Blackbird. Cyclops (now voiced by Ray Chase; he was previously voiced by Norm Spencer) is the mutant-team’s leader, and Wolverine (still Cal Dodd) is still getting under his skin. The torch from Professor X...

Recently, Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas makers, while spreading awareness through the famous meme pages on Instagram, did something that looked like it was deliberately planned – they took a dig at Hrithik Roshan‘s Fighter.

We're still waiting for "X-Men '97" to hit Disney+ sometime this year, reviving the beloved "X-Men: The Animated Series" from the '90s. In a glorious moment, John Lennon‘s “Give Peace a Chance” was performed when the Berlin Wall fell. That was only one of many historical events connected to the song. Paul McCartney connected a psychedelic Beatles song to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Denny Laine, guitarist and songwriter for iconic rock bands The Moody Blues and Wings, has died, according to a post from his wife. He was 79.
Laine joined with Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder to form The Moody Blues in 1964. He sang lead on the group’s first big single, “Go Now,” which hit No. 1 in their native U.K. and broke the Top 10 in the U.S. He left the band in 1966, before the rest of its most popular songs were written. Still, Laine was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 as a member of the Moodys.
In the years after he left, Laine recorded as a solo artist and formed the Electric String Band with Trevor Burton (of the Move), Viv Prince (formerly of Pretty Things) and Binky McKenzie. Laine and Burton later joined the band Balls and played in Ginger Baker’s Air Force,...

The former members of The Beatles never seemed to stop talking about their ex-bandmates. When George Harrison discussed his feelings about Wings, John Lennon responded by talking about Paul McCartney’s Band on the Run. That record produced three hit singles, but only two are still famous today.
George Harrison and John Lennon had strong feelings about Paul McCartney’s music
During a 1974 interview with Rolling Stone, George discussed his reluctance to play Beatles songs. “I certainly am going to control my own concept of me,” he said. “Gandhi says ‘Create and preserve the image of your choice.’ The image of my choice is not Beatle George. If they want to do that they can go and see Wings, then. Why live in the past? Be here now and now, whether you like me or not, this is what I am.”
During a 1975 interview with Rolling Stone, John was asked about George’s comment.

Paul McCartney‘s “Temporary Secretary” was not well-liked by fans in the beginning. Paul shared an anecdote about why he thinks the song has been vindicated with time. Here’s a look at what Rolling Stone had to say about “Temporary Secretary” in recent years.
What Paul McCartney thought when he heard a DJ playing ‘Temporary Secretary’
Paul’s experimental electronic album McCartney II received negative reviews upon its release in 1980. Perhaps the most infamous track from the album was the avant-garde track “Temporary Secretary.” During an interview with Loud and Quiet, Paul was asked about the way that McCartney II‘s reputation has improved.
“That’s a great thing for me, because you do these records and the spirit you do them in is very optimistic,” he said. “You think, this is great, it’s a record, and you’re pleased with it. And then you get the reception,...

Donald Bogle, who teaches at the University of Pennsylvania and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, is one of the pioneering film scholars on the subject of Black representation onscreen. For 50 years his work has explored how the images we see reflect and reinforce narratives in the culture at large, and he has given a spotlight to Black images onscreen since the time when few others in academia or film criticism were willing to do so.

John Lennon revealed what he thought of Paul McCartney’s band, Wings, as well as a specific song by the band. He also explained what his relationship with Paul was like after The Beatles broke up. Paul also discussed his opinion on Wings and how they have been compared to the Fab Four.
John Lennon explained what he admired about Paul McCartney and Wings
During a 1980 interview from the book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, John discussed his feelings about Paul’s post-Beatles career. “I kind of admire the way Paul started back from scratch, forming a new band and playing in small dance halls, because that’s what he wanted to do with The Beatles — he wanted us to go back to the dance halls and experience that again,” he said. “But I didn’t … that was one of the problems,...

Paul McCartney kicked off the Australian leg of his 2023 tour at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Wednesday night (October 18th), marking his first live performance in more than a year.
During the nearly three-hour set, McCartney mixed in his own solo hits alongside his work with the Beatles and Wings. As with his previous “Got Back” concerts, Macca opened the show with “Can’t Buy Me Love” before going into Wings’ “Junior’s Farm” and “Letting Go.” This was followed by his first performance of the Beatles’ “She’s a Woman” since 2004.
Though none of the songs from Macca’s most recent album, McCartney III, made the setlist, he did run through “Fuh You” and “Come On to Me” from 2018’s Egypt Station. He also reached back into his catalog for songs like “Maybe I’m Amazed,” “Here Today,” and “Dance Tonight.”

One of the hottest horror writers working in Hollywood today, Akela Cooper has set up her next project, and Deadline brings us the scoop this morning.
Akela Cooper will write the feature length adaptation of It’s Over, an unpublished short story from Jack Follman that Sony Pictures has scooped up this week.
“The deal landed in the mid- to high-six-figure range,” Deadline notes.
Deadline also details, “The 29-page unpublished short story hit the marketplace Wednesday, the first day writers were back in business. In what might be a good sign if the rumors are true that many writers spent downtime writing specs, the town responded quickly. Without giving away the reveals, It’s Over takes the painful breakup of a longtime couple and drives it right into the horror lane, blending humor and social commentary, as Cooper did in M3GAN.”
Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment will produce, along with Ground Control.

In 1980, John Lennon said he wasn’t interested in what the other Beatles were doing but that didn’t make him “callous.” Despite his words, he called a Paul McCartney song “a good piece of work.” The song’s music video had Paul looking to The Beatles’ past.
John Lennon felt 1 Paul McCartney song made him sound depressed
During a 1980 interview from the book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, John discussed his former bandmates. “I don’t follow what they do now,” he admitted. “Somebody asked me what I thought of Paul’s last album and I made some remark like I thought he was depressed and sad. But then I realized I hadn’t listened to the whole damn thing.” The album in question was McCartney II, Paul’s venture into electronic music.

Sometimes classic rock feels like it was just one big, happy, constantly collaborating family. One of the members of The Moody Blues said he co-wrote Paul McCartney’s “Band on the Run,” although the song’s writing credits tell a different story. Regardless, it’s undeniable the Moody Blues member did a lot for Wings.
A Moody Blues member who joined Wings said he wrote Paul McCartney’s ‘Band on the Run’
Denny Laine was a member of The Moody Blues who later became a member of Wings. During a 2023 interview with Naples Daily News, he said he co-wrote two of Wings’ most famous hits: “Band on the Run” and “Mull of Kintyre.” He received a co-writing credit on the latter but not the former. “Band of the Run” is credited to Paul and Linda McCartney, with Paul as its producer.

John Lennon accused the press of “shellacking” Yoko Ono and Linda McCartney. John had a (probably controversial) take on the situation. Despite any drama from back in the day, Yoko and Linda more than proved themselves.
John Lennon revealed why he and Yoko Ono had ‘deep sympathy’ for Linda McCartney
During a 1980 interview in the book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, John discussed the public perception of Yoko and Linda. “You know Linda has taken the same kind of shellacking Yoko got and we have a deep sympathy for her because we know what she’s been through,” he said.
“She got the same kind of insults, hatred, absolute garbage thrown at her for no reason whatsoever other than she fell in love with Paul McCartney,” John added. “It’s just a crying shame the way both Linda and Paul — uh,...

Paul McCartney was saddened when John Lennon compared him to another popular singer. However, the comparison doesn’t work at all. Notably, this comparison came from John’s era of edgy trash-talking.
Paul McCartney hated John Lennon comparing him to Engelbert Humperdinck
In the 1970s, John was as known for his digs as he was for his music. For example, in the 1971 book Lennon Remembers, John criticizes all the other Beatles, Elvis Presley, Mick Jagger, Orson Welles, Frank Zappa, Judy Collins, Joan Baez, and so many others.
During a 1974 interview with Rolling Stone, Paul said he didn’t like everything John did, however, he kept his mouth shut. “I mean, he came out with all stuff like I’m like Engelbert Humperdinck,” Paul recalled. “I know he doesn’t really think that.”
Paul was asked what he thought about John’s comments. “Oh, I hated it,” he recalled. “You can imagine,...

Paul McCartney was helpless as he watched The Beatles fall apart despite his best efforts to stop the breakup. The unofficial songwriting competition between Paul and John Lennon stressed the band to the breaking point. Yet Macca couldn’t keep himself from forming a new band, and it might have saved his life. McCartney’s Wings bandmate Henry McCullough pulled a knife and drove away a person who said he wanted to kill Paul.

Paul McCartney has a good singing voice but rarely makes his voice go too high. He tended to stay in an area where he was comfortable, but he sometimes experimented with his vocals in songs like “Helter Skelter” and “Maybe I’m Amazed”. While recording one song, Paul McCartney attempted to get his voice as high as possible, and he thought he sounded “like Mickey Mouse.”
Paul McCartney thought he sounded like Mickey Mouse on ‘Lonesome Town’
“Lonesome Town” is a song Paul McCartney recorded for his 1999 cover album Run Devil Run. The original version was released by Ricky Nelson in 1958. McCartney brought in a solid band to record the song, including Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour on guitar.
The former Beatle didn’t want to do a standard remake of Nelson’s version. He tried to take it up another level, literally. He decided to do it in a higher tone,...

There's a lot that can be said about Tina Turner. The music legend, who passed away on May 24th at the age of 83, had been dubbed the "Queen of Rock n' Roll" thanks to her huge impact on that genre while rising to prominence during the '50s and '60s. Her fit, impressive figure became so famous all by itself that she allegedly had her legs insured for $3.2 million. One of her first and biggest hit songs, "Proud Mary," became a hit that dwarfed the original version by Credence Clearwater Revival. Above all else, Turner was a consummate performer.
Given that, it's a crying shame that she graced the silver screen a mere handful of times, and most of those appearances were as herself. No matter who she was playing, Turner showed up and dug into the performance with as much spirit and professionalism as any of her live shows,...

Paul McCartney disappeared from public view in the waning days of The Beatles. The bassist, once called an idiot by a musician who covered one of his songs, had long since proven his songwriting chops, but he felt lost as his band disintegrated. Yet the band was still technically together when Paul threw one of his worst tantrums as a Beatle in front of two journalists sent to find him.

Paul McCartney responded to The Beatles’ break-up by releasing a pair of solo albums under his own name. Then he formed the band Wings. It was still something of a solo gig. Macca wrote the music (including songs he wrote on the spot) and played many of the instruments, but the group dynamic got him touring again. His bandmate said one Paul mistake stayed on a Wings song from the signature album Band on the Run.

Jordan and Liz Raposo’s company Outlier Society attached to produce. Jordan is also considering starring in the film. Deadline reports that Amazon Studios came out the winner in a bidding war over the project, paying an amount somewhere in the high six figures. In and out of the group, The Beatles wrote many songs about home, whether where they grew up, a house they once lived in, or the city they resided in. Here’s a list of 13 times the Fab Four wrote about home.

The Beatles’ “I’ll Follow the Sun” doesn’t seem like a song about home, but it is. In his book The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, Paul McCartney wrote that the tune is a “Leaving of Liverpool song.” He explained that the lyrics say, “I’m leaving this rainy northern town for someplace where more is happening.” Paul and The Beatles did leave Liverpool to start a better life.
12. ‘In My Life’
“In My Life” was John Lennon’s first song where he spoke about his own life. He called it his “first real major piece of work.

Paul McCartney had a good childhood
Compared to his fellow Beatles, Paul had a relatively happy childhood. His mother, Mary, was a midwife and would bike to her patients, similarly to the nurses in Call the Midwife. She brought in enough money for the family to move to a better neighborhood on 20 Forthlin Road.
Paul’s father, Jim, had been in a jazz band in the 1920s, so music was heavily steeped into the family’s ethos. He was a cotton salesman. Paul McCartney and Wings formed shortly after The Beatles disbanded. While the band didn’t have the same success as The Beatles, Wings was still a prolific band of the 1970s. Their 1975-1976 tour proved that McCartney could be the leader of an excellent band and could be successful without his former band. The tour was documented in Wings Over the World, which premiered on CBS 35 years ago today.

Paul McCartney has always been a constant at Abbey Road Studios, but he decided to change things up when he went to record Band on the Run at a recording studio in Nigeria. Unfortunately, the former Beatles was involved in a frightening mugging where he was robbed at knifepoint. Unbeknownst to the muggers, they stole the “original demos” for Band on the Run.

Paul McCartney wanted to record Band on the Run, his third album with Wings, in an exotic location to provide the band with fresh air. McCartney knew Nigeria could be dangerous for tourists, but he wasn’t too worried.

Last week’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime” episode ended on a nail-biting cliffhanger: Task force member Jet Slootmaeker (Ainsley Seiger) was violently abducted by her target Seamus O’Meara (Michael Malarkey) after blowing her cover. We last saw her unarmed and in the trunk of his car as her colleagues desperately tried to find her.
Her boss, Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), tried to tell Jet she was getting too close to Seamus, but Jet convinced her to let her back into the field, where it all went disastrously wrong.
Seiger spoke to TheWrap before the conclusion of the two-parter about why Jet blames herself and how much she loved filming the two episodes. “I had the time of my life getting thrown into that trunk. It was so much fun,” she said of getting to do her own stunts.
