If Bride of Chucky is one of your favorite Child’s Play movies, you’re in for a real treat.
Wednesday’s jam-packed finale starts with Tiffany who’s about to be executed in prison. As she lies on death’s door with a needle plunged into her arm, she’s seconds away from certain death… until a guard who’s under her control swoops in, blowing away everyone who stands in his way. Looks like all of Tiff’s voodoo finally paid off in a major way.

Since earning a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination upon making his film debut in Miloš Forman's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," Brad Dourif has been one of cinema's most distinctive character actors. He was utterly heartbreaking as the painfully shy Billy Bibbit in Forman's film, but thereafter he specialized in more unsettling types. Need someone to play a character who's a little creepy, squirrelly, or just flat-out weird? Dourif will likely be at or near the top of your list.
Onscreen, Dourif is probably best known to most moviegoers as the scheming Grima Wormtongue in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" movies, but he's made, shall we say, quite a killing as the voice of the stab-happy doll Chucky in the "Child's Play" films and, currently, the "Chucky" television series on SyFy and the USA Network.
Like so many great character actors, we've taken Dourif for granted over the years.

Brad Dourif has had an incredible acting career that stretches back more than fifty years – and back in the early days of that career, he even earned a “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” Oscar nomination for his performance in the 1975 classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Over a decade later, he started playing the role he is best known for, that of Charles Lee Ray, a.k.a. Chucky, a serial killer who uses voodoo to transfer his soul into the body of a doll. Dourif is now 74 years old, so when we hear that he has decided to retire from acting, it’s totally understandable… but while talking about his retirement, Dourif has also made sure to assure fans that his days of Chucky are not over. He will still continue to work on any Chucky projects that might come up.

Everyone’s favorite killer doll is headed back to the small screen with “Chucky” Season 3: Part 2 on April 10, but are any further movies being planned at this time?
Created by Don Mancini, the “Chucky” television series remarkably plays around with existing elements from all previous films without disregarding Anything from the past. From the original Child’s Play to sequels including Child’s Play 2, Bride of Chucky and even Seed of Chucky, it’s all one cohesive timeline that Mancini remains deeply committed to.
Of course, the most recent film in the Child’s Play franchise was the 2019 remake, to date the only movie in the saga that’s Not part of Mancini’s vision. Is Mancini’s original incarnation going to spend his final days on TV, while another Chucky will be featured in the movies? It’s a question we’ve been asking ourselves for the last few years,...

I’m excited to return to Daily Dead with Archie’s House of Horrors. It’s also a perfect way to kick off Archie Horror in 2024, with a second installment of a title that garnered great success for Archie in 2023: Pop’S Chock’Lit Shoppe Of Horrors. We’re returning to this fun anthology for a second serving of terror in Fresh Meat.
Sequels are ubiquitous when it comes to horror. There’s no better franchise game in media than that of the horror sequels. Series like Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Child’s Play, Saw, Scream, and—probably most notably—Halloween (of which even Archie has had a little fun with Michael Myers in the past), are not just beloved within the horror space, they’re iconic franchises with immediate recognizability. Valentine’s Day may be a day of love, but there’s something about fear and murder that really gets the heart racing. Forget the countless Christmas rom-coms or Technicolor musical romances out there; sometimes, the most swoon-worthy romance is one between a human and a literal monster.
On the surface, horror and romance are two genres that shouldn’t mix well together; one exposes the worst and most disturbing cruelty humanity has to offer, while the other is meant to show the most tender and beautiful feelings we have. But as long as horror has been a genre, it’s been mixed with romance to frequently stellar results. Some of the earliest horror monsters, like vampires, are inherently sexual beings: their powers clear metaphors for intercourse and their ability to allure and entice humans with their beauty a key part of what makes them dangerous. Sex and romance isn’t always the same thing,...

A new episode of the Real Slashers video series has just been released, and with this one we’re looking back at a movie that gave us two iconic slashers for the price of one: the 2003 monster mash Freddy vs. Jason (watch it Here)! Somehow it’s been over twenty years since that long-awaited match-up reached theatres screens, and you can hear all about what happened when Freddy Krueger crossed paths with Jason Voorhees in the video embedded above.
Directed by Ronny Yu (who previously worked with another iconic slasher on Bride of Chucky) from a screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark J. Swift (with an uncredited polish by David S. Goyer), Freddy vs. Jason has the following synopsis: Get ready for the ultimate showdown! It’s been nearly ten years since Freddy, from the Nightmare on Elm Street series, invaded people’s dreams to exact his deadly form of revenge and murder.

Tom Holland's 1988 film "Child's Play" was initially meant to be a satire of the commercial madness that swept the world when Cabbage Patch Kids proliferated through the marketplace a few years before. What if, "Child's Play" asked, the soul of a vicious serial killer possessed your ultra-hot Christmas toy? The result was a genuinely creepy supernatural thriller about a young boy named Andy (Alex Vincent) his single mom (Catherine Hicks) and the mysterious Good Guy doll who likely contains the personality of Charles Lee "Chucky" Ray (Brad Dourif), known to the police as the Lakeshore Strangler.
Like many of the slasher films of the 1980s, "Child's Play" was extensively sequelized. The mythos of Chucky the killer doll expanded, leading to strange byzantine rules of voodoo magic (Chucky uses a magical amulet and magic spells to shunt his soul into a doll body), as well as inter-doll mating, and a lot of queerness.

"The Twilight Zone" isn't any old kind of zone. It's a bizarre place where anything can happen. Aliens can invade at any moment, William Shakespeare can get a job as a Hollywood ghostwriter. Heck, the creator of the series, Rod Serling, even got killed by his own creations once. The limits are only those of the human imagination, which are damn near infinite, except maybe without the words "damn near."
Yes, sometimes "The Twilight Zone" shows us things we never expected to see, which are hard to describe without making it seem like you're the one making it up. This is especially true for the less-popular, but still sometimes great reboots, which in the 1980s, early 2000s, and late 2010s allowed a whole new generation of actors, writers, and filmmakers to play in Rod Serling's unusual sandbox. Unlike the 1960s series, which was a cultural phenomenon in the 1960s and...

Chuck from the Child’s Play series is available now, and arrives with the Friends ’Til The End Collection, which features two iconic outfits for Chucky inspired by Ronny Yu’s Bride of Chucky!
The addition of Chucky “brings a playfulness to the game that only The Good Guy himself can muster.” That includes a brand-new third-person perspective camera while playing as Chucky to accommodate for his diminutive size. And of course, it wouldn’t be Chucky without the iconic Brad Dourif returning to voice the foul-mouthed pint, creating a faithful recreation of what you’d expect from Chucky’s murderous mayhem.

Happy birthday to our favorite beautiful bouncing killer baby boy! Bride of Chucky turned 25 in October. So Happy birthday, Chucky! Happy birthday, Tiffany! Happy birthday to my very favorite film in Don Mancini’s absolutely killer Child’s Play series: Bride of Chucky! It’s a film that I personally find to be a ton of fun. The kills are great, the humor is on point, and it’s just a joy to watch from start to finish. But Bride of Chucky also marks an important turning point in the trajectory of the Child’s Play franchise.
After Child’s Play 3 was released in 1991, it seemed as though the series had run its course. Chucky had terrorized Andy through multiple films, followed him to a foster home and again to military school, only to be vanquished time and time again before he was able to transfer his soul to another human body.

Thirty-five years, seven feature films, and three seasons deep into an ongoing television series haven’t diminished Chucky’s bloodlust in the slightest. That’s no easy feat, even in a genre largely driven by surviving impossible odds and obstacles. With each new entry, Chucky somehow manages to grow even more maniacal and devious, adapting to bizarre new twists that a prolonged voodoo curse throws his way. Of course, that voodoo curse started it all 35 years ago today, when Child’s Play stabbed its way into theaters on November 9, 1988.
While Chucky’s journey continues to surprise through new revelations, characters, and sharp narrative turns, it’s anchored by the killer’s unrelenting pursuit of vengeance and his voodoo origins. That voodoo curse also allows for one of the most notable deaths in the series for its almost meta-levels of doll-on-doll violence.

Steve Miner's "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later" was the seventh "Halloween" film, but it came during a slasher revival that was sparked by the success of Wes Craven's "Scream" two years earlier. "H20" ignored the mythology laid out in "Halloween III: Season of the Witch," "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers," "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers," and "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers."
The film caught up with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), still overcoming the trauma of Halloween night back in 1978 (covered in "Halloween" and "Halloween II"), and learning to live with the fact that Michael Myers is her brother. Moreso, "H20" focuses on Laurie's son John (Josh Hartnett) and his hip-talking teen peers. The teen cast contained a few notable stars-to-be, including Michelle Williams and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Has there ever been a more hypable roster of haunted houses to grace Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights? I don't mean to spew hyperbole; that's a genuine question. Maybe it's my specific horror taste showing. I adored "Evil Dead Rise," have a soft spot for holiday-themed horror, consider Chucky my favorite slasher icon, and think the world of "The Last of Us" as both a game and a series. Anticipation came easier than usual for this year's Horror Nights event, especially with a side quest to score one of 2023's signature voice-activated Chucky popcorn buckets.
As always, I diligently braved every haunted house and the Terror Tram experience. This year also featured an exclusive Blumhouse performance that boiled down to promo clips and "M3GAN" dancers, along with a "The Purge" water show at the "Waterworld" venue, but you're here for the skinny on every "hopefully" terrifying walkthrough. This year I'm putting...

It's killer doll season once again; in keeping with recent fall tradition, "Chucky" is heading back to our TV screens very soon. The USA and Syfy Channel continuation of the long-running "Child's Play" franchise has been a horror fan's heaven for 2 years now, and it shows no signs of stopping with a third season set to move the action from Salem, New Jersey to Washington, D.C.
The season's first teaser hinted that Chucky (Brad Dourif) might be making fools of the politicians there as it featured the possessed toy in a CNN-style press conference of his own, berating journalists while dropping tidbits about the new season. Now, we've finally gotten a better look at season 3 via the full-length trailer, which just dropped. Will Chucky "drain the swamp" in Washington, or just fill it up with blood?

When it comes to love stories, they simply do not have a happy ending within the context of most horror movie plots. Usually those in love become fodder together by the time the end credits roll. But what if I told you, that a love story within horror does exist, and what if it comes off as innocent and pure at first, but then evolves into something much more than we’re led on to? We’re not talking about The Bride of Frankenstein or even Bride of Chucky. You may have forgotten about one of the best remade love stories introducing a teenage vampire. ‘Freddy vs. Jason’ 20 Years Later – The Ultimate Horror Battle Still Satisfies After All These Years
I was somewhat of a late bloomer when it came to my exposure to horror. I lacked the cool older relative or friend that seems to serve as a customary gateway for many genre fans. I had seen a few horror movies growing up (Child’s Play and Scream each terrified me at different points in my youth), but seeing Freddy vs. Jason at the tender age of 15 is single-handedly responsible for the horror fandom that has consumed my life ever since. Without the movie — which hit theaters 20 years ago today — I very likely wouldn’t be writing for Bloody Disgusting now.
I knew of Freddy and Jason through pop culture osmosis, but I hadn’t seen any of the combined 17 films that comprised the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises when Freddy vs. Jason piqued my interest. Even with the advent of Netflix’s DVDs by mail,...

At the end of 1993’s Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, horror fans saw the sight of Friday the 13th slasher Jason Voorhees’ hockey mask lying in the dirt, after its wearer had been vanquished. It seemed as though the story of this villain had finally come to the end. At least until A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger’s blade-gloved hand popped out of the dirt and dragged the mask to Hell.
The scene seemed to tease an oncoming battle between Krueger and Voorhees, which fans had wanted. Horror geeks had debated who would win in such a fight, but for a very long time, it seemed like it would only exist in people’s fantasies and never in an actual movie. Until, of course, Ronny Yu’s Freddy vs. Jason came to fruition.

Of all the merchandising possibilities someone could come up with, one thing I never would have envisioned is a line of rubber duckies that are designed to look like iconic movie characters. But that’s exactly what Numskull Designs’ Tubbz is: a line of rubber duckies that are said to be cosplaying as movie characters. And just in time for the Halloween season, Numskull has unveiled new Tubbz duckies that are inspired by the likes of Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs, Bride of Chucky Tiffany, Carol Anne Freeling from Poltergeist, and Stephen King’s Carrie. You can take a look at these new Tubbz at the bottom of this article – or you can click over to the Tubbz page on the Numskull website and start shopping!

Last year, Scream Factory brought the 1988 classic Child’s Play and its first two sequels, 1990’s Child’s Play 2 and 1991’s Child’s Play 3, to 4K Uhd. And one month out from the street date, Scream Factory has revealed the list of extras that will be on the discs.

1998’s Bride of Chucky was a major blockbuster success for Universal. So, then, why did it take so long to get a sequel? And, even more to that point, why was it through Rogue Pictures? Those are good questions, all of which the Halloweenies will explore across two episodes as they revisit 2004’s Seed of Chucky.

In October of 1998, it wasn’t only Chucky who got lucky, it was Universal. Thanks to foresight of writer Don Mancini and producer David Kirschner, the studio capitalized on the still-thriving post-Scream wave by resurrecting their Child’s Play franchise. At the time, the series had been gathering dust for most of the decade after the less-than returns of 1991’s Child’s Play 3.
Enter Bride of Chucky.
Directed by Ronny Yu, the stylish horror comedy doubled down on the dolls, pairing Brad Dourif‘s foul-mouthed friend ’til the end with Jennifer Tilly, who would become the Chuckster’s bride Tiffany. What’s more, Mancini opted to sideline the humans, giving not only fans what they wanted, but what the franchise ultimately needed in that moment.
Now, nearly 25 years later, the Halloweenies hit the road and head towards Hackensack, New Jersey, where they’ll spend two episodes revisiting the 1998 blockbuster. Together, Justin Gerber,...

The Film
Cynthia Rothrock made her film debut in Yes Madam, subsequently going on to great success in supporting roles in the likes of Righting Wrongs and Millionaires Express. Lady Reporter (also known by the much cooler title The Blonde Fury) though would be her first true vehicle. It was conceived for her and directed largely by her Yes Madam colleague (and sometime partner) Mang Hoi. It’s a ground-breaking film in one major way: it was the first, and to date remains the only, time that a non-Asian actress was top billed in a Hong Kong martial arts film.
The film finds Rothrock playing Cindy, and FBI agent recruited to go undercover at a Hong Kong newspaper which the Feds think is being used as cover for a counterfeit money operation. As you might expect, kicking ensues.
The plot isn’t particularly complicated, but it doesn’t always connect perfectly from scene to scene.

Tubi opens June with an intense WWII drama “Inglourious Basterds.” Allied officer Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) assembles a team of five tough Jewish soldiers to spread fear throughout the Third Reich. They have one assignment: assassinate Nazi leaders. Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed the unconventional war drama. Eli Roth, Melanie Laurent, and Christopher Walz co-star.
Watch the trailer of “Inglourious Basterds”:
The network is also streaming the original documentary “Mystery Unsolved: The Adnan Syed Story” on June 7. The murder of teenager Hae Min Lee was the focal point of a “Serial” podcast, which questioned if boyfriend Syed was her killer. After serving 22 years in prison, Syed was released, still proclaiming his innocence. Now, he may return.
Another streamer original, “Magic Carpet Rides,” arrives June 14. It centers on a social influencer torn between sharing her budding romance or honoring her boyfriend’s request to keep their life private.

Ed Gale, the actor who played Chucky in the 1988 horror film Child’s Play, admitted to having sexually explicit online conversations with a boy he thought was 14 when he was caught in a sting operation by the child advocacy group Creep Catchers Unit.
The Southern California-based group, which enlists adults to pose as minors to coordinate meetings with potential predators, confronted Gale at his Hollywood apartment, local reports say. The 59-year-old actor admitted to soliciting child pornography from the supposed child with the intention of “hooking up.” By his own estimations, Gale said he may have spoken with 10 other underage victims.
According to local reports, two LAPD detectives entered Gale’s apartment during the Creep Catchers sting. The group stated that the detectives confiscated electronic devices from the actor, but he wasn’t taken into custody.
Gale later played Chucky as the in-suit performer in 1990’s Child’s Play 2 and 1988’s Bride of Chucky.

Documentary profile of the interconnections behind the past and current makers of the long-running franchise is bit of a love-in
“The family that slays together stays together” finishes this blow-by-blow retrospective of the Child’s Play/Chucky franchise, and it’s certainly impossible to contest that. Not only does the homicide-happy doll gain his own family during the course of the seven films, but actor Brad Dourif – who voiced him – has been succeeded by daughter Fiona as the head of proceedings, and this documentary is directed by Kyra Elise Gardner, daughter of current head puppeteer Tony Gardner. The close-knit ethos might well explain the franchise’s gleefully perverse sense of fun, but the truth is this love-in features too much filler.
Gardner charts Chucky’s progress from straight-up malefic totem through camp horror icon to revitalised golden-age bogeykid, all under the supervision of creator and series writer Don Mancini (who...

Among the most entertaining categories at the MTV Movie and TV Awards every year is Best Villain, but for a category intended to be all in good fun, its history has included some pretty iconic characters, from Denzel Washington‘s Oscar-winning Detective Alonzo Harris in “Training Day,” to Heath Ledger‘s Oscar-winning Joker in “The Dark Knight,” to Tom Hiddleston‘s star-making Loki in “The Avengers.” Who will join their ranks this year?

William Friedkin's "The Exorcist" is one of the best horror movies ever made, which makes it by extension one of the best movies ever made at all. But it's not just a powerful dramatic exploration of faith in an increasingly secular society, and it's not just a terrifically scary motion picture that stunned audiences; it was also a gigantic mega-blockbuster by any reasonable measure. If you adjust for inflation to determine how much "The Exorcist" would have made theatrically at today's ticket prices, you'll find it would have made over a billion dollars domestically, ranking it the ninth-highest-grossing movie in the history of the American box office. That's more than "Avengers: Endgame" or "Avatar."
So regardless of how excellent the original film was, "The Exorcist" was still a huge financial success, and we all know what happens to huge financial successes -- they get sequels. And "The Exorcist" had some very strange sequels.

Review: Friday the 13th has Crystal Lake Memories (both the book and the movie). The Nightmare on Elm Street series has the documentary Never Sleep Again. But a lot of the big horror franchises are still waiting to receive their definitive documentaries. Last year, I read the book Reign of Chucky, a film-by-film examination of the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise that was packed with interesting information about the making of the movies. But since it was assembled during the production of season 2 of the Chucky TV series, it was missing one major element: authors Dustin McNeill and Travis Mullins weren’t able to land interviews with some of the most prominent players in the franchise, like Don Mancini, who has written every entry in the series, or actors Brad Dourif,...

Filmmaker Kyra Elise Gardner’s examination of the Child’s Play franchise comes from a personal place in Living with Chucky, debuting on Screambox and Digital on April 4, 2023.
Kyra Elise Gardner is the daughter of Tony Gardner, one of the most prominent and integral special effects artists in the “Chucky” franchise. For the Gardners, Chucky is family.
And the Chucky films, well, they’re often about family as well.
The filmmaker’s familial relationship with the killer Good Guy doll, voiced by Brad Dourif, fittingly coincided with the horror icon unexpectedly finding himself a family in Bride of Chucky. Bride, penned by Don Mancini and directed by Ronny Yu, gave series protagonist Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) a much-needed rest and instead introduced franchise mainstay Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly), opening up new layers to Chucky in the process.

Up next from Screambox is festival hit Living With Chucky, a full-blown Child’s Play documentary that celebrates the entire franchise. The documentary from director Kyra Elise Gardner will first begin streaming on Screambox and on Digital on April 4, 2023, followed by the official Blu-ray release on April 18, 2023. Want a sneak peek while you wait?
In the clip from Living With Chucky you’ll find below, Jennifer Tilly recalls her introduction to the killer doll that she’d end up becoming intimately familiar with. It’s hard to imagine there was a time in the franchise’s history when Tilly wasn’t in the mix, as Bride of Chucky and the subsequent films – and television series – cemented her status as a true icon of the saga.
Storming into pop culture in the late 1980s, the three-foot menace known as Chucky proved that Child’s Play was anything but. Written and directed by Kyra Elise Gardner,...

When you think about horror movies from the ’90s, 1998 specifically, a lot of great titles come to mind. There’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and John Carpenter’s Vampires. You might even find yourself talking for hours about the forever quotable Bride of Chucky, but one film (to me) stood out above the rest. The Faculty was a movie that came along at the right time, with the right stars aligning. It was directed by Robert Rodriguez from a script by Kevin Williamson (and a story by David Wechter and Bruce Kimmel), fresh off his success with the first Scream film just two years earlier.
The first thing that jumped off the screen was the choice of music. The film sported an amazing soundtrack comprising mostly of covers, highlighted by the superstar group Class of ’99. We were then introduced to the first member of the faculty,...

It's difficult to overstate the immediate and overwhelming effect that Wes Craven's 1996 film "Scream" had on pop culture. By the mid-1990s the slasher genre had pretty much come to an end. The most popular monsters of the 1980s were being deliberately killed off, as "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" and "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday" seemingly closed the door on their respective franchises. The slasher series that continued started to die of fatigue, as seen in clunky, underwhelming films like "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers" and "Hellraiser: Bloodline."
Then, in December of '96, "Scream" came out and a new trend was immediately born. The Kevin Williamson-scripted "Scream" was a slasher movie, yes, but it was populated by teenage characters who all knew -- and spoke openly about -- the tropes of slasher movies. Everyone was wry, sarcastic, and understood the metafictional situation they occupied.
