The Adventures of TinTin was amazing, with a nice mix of story and action. Steven Spielberg directed the first animated/performance capture adaptation of Hergé’s comic book series. Peter Jackson served as producer, on what is planned as a trilogy. TotalFilm spoke with Spielberg recently, and we have an update on the sequel.
Here is what Spielberg had to say about the sequel:
Peter [Jackson]’s doing it. I wanted to do it, but Peter has to because we made a deal. I said, ‘I’ll direct the first one, you direct the second one.
And Peter, of course, is going to do it right after he finishes photography on The Hobbit. He’ll go right into the 31, 21 days of performance capture. 'We’re not telling the world what books we’re basing the second movie on yet.'
Earlier reports by Kathleen Kennedy stated that the sequel would be based on The Calculus Affair.

Total Film recently caught up with Steven Spielberg, and we got him to spill the beans on the upcoming Tintin sequel. Spielberg directed the first instalment of the performance-capture/animated take on Hergé’s spirited comic book series, with Peter Jacskon serving as producer. The pair had planned on a trilogy, and the ending of The Secret Of The Unicorn certainly left things open for a sequel. So what can Spielberg tell us about Tintin 2? “Peter [Jackson]’s doing it. I wanted to do it, but Peter has to because we...

I grew up on Hergé’s Adventures of Tintin, long before I knew there were graphic albums featuring Belgium’s greatest export after chocolate. Then, in the 1990s, they tried again with different results and it is that latter series being collected on DVD this month from Shout! Factory.
For those in need of reminding, take a look:
Here’s the formal press release:

We had a moment of panic in the HeyUGuys Bunker recently. While we were all really excited for release of The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, none of us were what you would call Tintin experts. We could go on at length about motion capture, computer animation and 3D, but our Tintin knowledge was limited to a love of the comics. That might do for some outlets, but not here, so after a quick discussion, I was dispatched to Brussels to learn more about the boy reporter, his home city, and his creator, Hergé.
Arriving at St Pancras station’s Eurostar terminal hideously early in the morning, I met Michael Farr, Britain’s foremost expert on the boy reporter, who would be playing Haddock to my Tintin (or perhaps that ought to be Tintin to my Snowy). A friendly chap, whose career as a journalist saw him...

Can director Steven Spielberg bring Herge's beloved comic book character to life? Here's James' review of The Adventures Of Tintin...
Once upon a time, Steven Spielberg was the filmmaker I loved the most. I wouldn’t call it a sophisticated relationship, but it was deeply felt and ran like a golden thread through my childhood up until the dawn of adulthood.
However, as the years passed, that love cooled, giving way to disappointment and ultimately resentment. Could the director who’d so scared me with Jaws, thrilled me with Raiders Of The Lost Ark and touched my little heart with E.T. really be churning out such half-formed and woolly headed stuff as The Terminal and War Of The Worlds?
It’s therefore heartening to report that the Spielberg of my (and so many others) childhood is back, and firing on all cylinders for his maiden excursion into the worlds of both motion-capture and 3D filmmaking.

Boats feature heavily in the exciting first full-length trailer for The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn…
A journalist from a gentler, nobler era, boyish hero Tintin spends more time solving mysteries and foiling villainous plans than hunched over a typewriter, as the full-length trailer for The Secret Of The Unicorn proves.
We’re still not entirely sold on the rather spooky use of motion capture in Steven Spielberg’s CG movie, but the strengths of Hergé’s characters shines through, and we’re particularly taken with the quality of the voice acting, which includes Jamie Bell as Tintin and Andy Serkis as the belligerent Captain Haddock.
The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn’s due out on December, and we’re rather looking forward to it. Blistering barnacles.

Want to see how Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s The Adventures Of Tintin is shaping up? Step right this way for the very first images...
It feels as though we’ve been waiting for ages for our first look at director Steven Spielberg’s handling of Tintin, themuch-loved character created by Belgian artist Hergé. And now, courtesy of Empire, the first images of The Adventures Of Tintin are here.
What’s immediately striking is the level of detail in each shot - it may be computer generated, but it’s a world away from the stylised aesthetic of Pixar. The characters are still recognisably Hergé’s - Tintin still wears his trademark quiff, while Captain Haddock looks as grizzled as you’d expect - but the decision to make them look so life-like is a surprising one, and we're looking forward to seeing the characters in motion to get...

Blistering barnacles! A promotional poster arrives for Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn…
The forthcoming Tintin movie reads like a match made in heaven. Directed by Steven Spielberg - who, in his better moments, is still one of the best filmmakers in Hollywood - with a script written by Steven Moffat, Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright, and starring Jamie Bell as Tintin, ably supported by Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Daniel Craig, it sounds like Belgian artist and writer Hergé's much-loved character is in safe hands.
The promotional poster shown here for The Secret Of The Unicorn, the first in a proposed trilogy of Tintin movies, certainly plays its cards close to its chest. Using a piece of artist and writer Herge's original artwork on a stark white background, there's no hint whatsoever of what we can expect from the finished movie.

Currently ranked #3 at the Top 50 Hitlist, Jamie Bell is one of the most consistent young actors today - his role in Defiance may not be as meaty as Daniel Craig's but he was able to pull it off and put his level of acting at par with his more illustrious co-stars. He also made waves in Hallam Foe, from Scottish filmmaker David McKenzie - this film, I believe, is Bell's best movie to date.

- - - Tintin the movie is going to be Jamie Bell's next big project - perhaps as big as Billy Elliot or maybe not:
As Tintin, Jamie Bell has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Working with Spielberg with a huge budget and an internationally famous character could springboard Bell into Hollywood’s A-List. Becoming an action film hero and a sex symbol along the lines of Harrison Ford and Matt Damon is entirely possible.

In town to promote this weekend's debut of "District 9," filmmaker Peter Jackson shared some details about another project he's serving as producer for—and the sequel that he'll be getting behind the camera to direct.
"The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn" is based on the beloved comic strip with a global (and loyal) fanbase, and chronicles boy journalist Tintin's globe-trotting adventures. Jackson is serving as producer on the first film, with Steven Spielberg in the director's chair. The pair will reverse the roles for the sequel, and Jackson shared some details about where they're at with the current film and what fans can expect to see in the follow-up.
"[Spielberg]'s just finished his cut, which he's showing me when I get back home next week," Jackson told MTV News.
