Chicago – Filmmakers brothers are ubiquitous, as siblings grow up with the love of the movies and turn it into a career when adults. Director John Erick Dowdle and his writing partner, brother Drew, has had a successful run with films like “Devil” and last year’s “As Above, So Below.” Their latest film, “No Escape,” explores geopolitics and the increasing potential for government breakdown.
Owen Wilson and Lake Bell are Jack and Annie, Americans traveling with two children who go to an unnamed Asian land for Jack’s work. He represents a corporation whose activities with the government cause an uprising, and the family suddenly finds themselves in the midst of a street war. Coming to their aid is a mysterious British expatriate, portrayed with a maniacal verve by Pierce Brosnan. The family must find a way to escape the country, as foreigners are being rounded up for execution.

The dry spell of Star Wars video games is coming to an end this year with the release of Battlefront and Disney Infinity 3.0. While these games are sure to fill the void and scratch the itch Star Wars gamers have had for years, there are still some games we’d love to see made under the new regime.
Star Wars is about to explode on the scene in ways it hasn’t in over a decade. With the new series of films kicking off later this year, plus the end to the dry spell on games set in the galaxy far, far away. For many Star Wars fans, the video games were the ultimate way to immerse themselves in the epic story and live out their dreams of battling the forces of evil (or crushing rebellions). Sadly, however, it’s been awhile since we’ve been able to do so with any new titles.

A glob of stray semen is slathered on as impromptu hair gel. A high school flutist describes all the graphic details of her "one time at band camp." A slobbering frat boy climbs a ladder for a close look at disrobing co-eds — a glimpse so revelatory that he plummets backward without batting an eye. Raunch-comedy history is littered with off-color climaxes, and the genre hasn't blown its load quite yet.

By the beginning of February last year, the broadcast networks had renewed nine scripted series: ABC’s Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Castle, The Middle and Cougar Town, CBS’ The Big Bang Theory (three-year pickup) and NCIS and Fox’s Raising Hope. A month later, the number climbed to 10 with a two-year deal for CBS’ How I Met Your Mother. We’re at the end of February now, and the networks are yet to pick up a single existing scripted series for next season. That is a very unusual pattern as the broadcast networks normally like to reward their top performers with early renewals. There is no doubt that shows like ABC’s Modern Family and Once Upon A Time, CBS’ 2 Broke Girls and NCIS or Fox’s New Girl will be back next season. And yet, two-and-a-half months before the upfronts, there is not a single scripted...

A quick scan of Jim Carrey's filmography has re-confirmed what I've suspected for awhile. There aren't very many of his movies I actually dig. In fact, I haven't liked a movie he's starred in since 2004's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. That's one hell of a drought. The dry spell looks to be continuing with his latest, Mr. Popper's Penguins. Based on Richard and Florence Atwater's 1938...

The defining "How I Met Your Mother" episodes aren't the ones with complex comedic setups or tabloid-friendly stunt casting. They sneak up on you, a lot like "Natural History" did.
"Himym" made plays for our hearts and funny bones during its latest outing, breaking up serious developments for Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), Zoey (guest Jennifer Morrison) and Marshall (Jason Segel) with Ted's (Josh Radnor) amazing voice-throwing ("wieners and gonads!") and some childish, potentially rekindle-y antics between Barney and Robin (Cobie Smulders).
Oh, and we're officially sold on the Ted/Zoey chemistry.
Other lessons learned:
Since their breakup, Barney and Robin have spent an understandably few episodes playing off of each other. The dry spell ended with their night at the museum, and though the writers seemed to go out of their way to make their rule-breaking seem anything but romantic, we can't help but feel it laid the groundwork for...
