Take no prisoners, or personal checks.

"The Art of Dick" is one of the mediocre-to-good episodes of "3rd Rock," in which a stagnating Harry decides to take up a new hobby: art, prompting a jealous reaction from Dick (surprise, surprise). It's not that it's not good. In fact, it has its moments-- Sally explaining to Tommy why one of the bake sale moms "had to be broken for the sake of the unit"-- but it just isn't as clever as others before and after it. In fact, it mainly loses points for the fact that the B-storyline (Sally's command takeover of the bake sale) is more entertaining than the main plot.

-"I don't believe I've seen you before." -"I don't believe you're blond."

Harry Is Actually Good At Something!

After two solid, but not spectacular episodes, 3rd Rock from the Sun comes roaring back to life with "The Art of Dick." So far on Earth, Harry has spectacularly failed at everything. That is about to change! When Mary takes Dick to an art class, Harry tags along. He turns out to be a great artist-even better than Dick! Of course, Dick becomes jealous. Meanwhile, Tommy signs Sally up for a bake sale at the school. Sally takes a rather militant approach to the proceedings.

I really liked this "Harry-centric" episode. It is refreshing to have an episode focused on Harry. I am not the biggest art fan, but I think the subject matter works well within the episode's screenplay and character moments. I also like how both plotlines were as equally good. Having Sally take such a hands-on approach to the bake sale is fantastic humor.

My Grade: B+
