Not One Of Their Best But At Least Perry laughed
ccthemovieman-12 December 2006
This gets off to a laugh as Perry White asks his three reporters (small staff for a big paper, as I never saw any other reporters in the six years of this show.) for a "staff meeting." Olson says something and White looks at him and quips, "Modern education. Don't they teach you anything but finger-painting?"

Anyway, White wants them to get an interview with two members of some Zaharan cult, some supertitious group that is making news but not granting interviews. Perry gives Lois an expensive necklace, thinking that will help get the interview as the cult members seem attracted to jewelry. Meanwhile, two thieves have been following these guys with all the jewels, waiting for an opportunity to steal the baubles.

Without giving anything away, for awhile it seems like everyone's a crook in this story, where Jimmy and Lois wind up in fancy tomb dressed like half-naked Egyptians and they want to test Lois with some test that will prove she's their long-lost princess, a test that would kill her.

It was okay but wasn't really one of the better episodes. The only thing different is that the studio must have raised the budget on the show finally because the sets are different much more elaborate than in the past on these shows.

Oh, and Perry White ended the show with a big belly laugh! Now that was unusual and nice to see.

Another One of the Duller Episodes
Hitchcoc12 February 2015
A couple of foreign potentates from some ancient mid-eastern culture are due in Metropolis. Lois and Jimmy are dispatched to interview them. She is given an ancient scarab to wear. While they wait for the arrival, a couple of guys in red fezzes grab the scarab and try to get away. Fortunately, Clark/Superman is on the scene, foils the robbery, and has the guys tossed in jail. The two guys now show up and Lois and Jimmy get their interview. They also get invited to the city where these guys come from. They have an ulterior motive, however. They are going to bring Lois back because legend says that whoever is wearing that scarab is the princess. It's that old mummy thing where someone is about to be reincarnated. So they kidnap Jimmy and Lois and lock them up in a throne room and wait for some gas to send Lois from this life to the next. Jimmy is simply expendable. The problem, as usual, is that Superman must find them which is no small task. I do have one question. That scarab was borrowed from a private collection and was worth a great deal. Why didn't she just give it back to Perry White before she went on the junket. Quite a few plot holes and not a very interesting script.

Completely a lame episode

Somewhat following in line with Mummy films it tries to make an interesting story line. Even though a half hour show it could have been a bit better by deleting certain scenes to change part of the story in a rewrite. In the tomb after Lois changes clothes, I noticed she is wearing gold colored high heels rather than some type of sandals. The two attractive women that helped Lois change is the only good thing about this episode. This is one of the worst of the Superman episodes.
