My most common complaint with this show is how many times it cops-out. It is way more effective to show actual dangers as opposed to borderline sanctimony. It is not just the deal with alcohol, a few things are too simplistic and too neatly finished.

I want to start out with the subplot since it is the more interesting of the stories. The guys give Michelle a Raffi cd and she overplays his timeless hit "Baby Beluga." The family (mainly Stephanie) get annoyed.

The main story involves DJ and Kimmy organizing a dance and DJ wanting Kevin Gwynne to be her date. The band they had in mind breaks up and, you guessed it, Jesse fills in. The marching band accompanies him. Lame. At the dance, Kevin and two classmates drink beer and DJ tries to break it up. Jesse walks in at the wrong moment and thinks it is DJ at fault. DJ feels alone and wants to put things right. Meanwhile, the only good to come out is the guys discussing why DJ was "drinking" so they can figure out the best way to help her. Big wup! DJ sneaks off back tot he dance where Kimmy tells her the boys where caught drinking. Danny and Jesse discover the truth, then DJ and Jesse have a heart-to-heart about peer pressure.

To say why drinking is so bad, actually show it! In the final season, Kimmy gets drunk and they actually show it. Good job! In the previous season, Stephanie gets pressured to smoke. She doesn't, but the episode does an excellent job of showing peer pressure. This fails at morals and extents of bad habits.
