A funny end to the first series.

It's the day of Daisy's granddaughter's christening, Hyacinth is displeased by the length of the relationship and of Rose's skirt.

This first series landed very well, they must have been pleased with it, and this series finale is yet another very good, funny episode, yet more reasons for Hyacinth to disapprove.

Jokes galore, lots about standards, and lots about Daddy's wandering hands. It ends the first series very well.

It's very sad that this happens to be the last episode to feature Shirley Stelfox as Rose. She was great throughout this first series, Millar would do an equally great job.

Gray fun, 8/10.

Hyacinth and the hippies

I appreciate how Daisy wants Daddy at the Christening. Reminds me of how my mother would act she even commented that is exactly how she would act. Hyacinth is like an aunt of mine and wants to hide people away who embarrass her. Daisy is my mom( although housekeeping wise she's closer Liz ) in a defending family way.

I actually thought maybe neither guy was the father! Lol . Funny episode as Hyacinth and Richard have to hitch a ride to the church with the hippies.

What an end to the first series

Quite iconic Stephanie is in company of two hippies, they even both argue over which one's the father - no-one knows.

First appearance of Hyacinth and Daisy's wealthy sister Violet, although uncredited

Bit of a tragedy it's last episode Shirley Stelfox role as Rose (before I've seen her as Edna in Emmerdale), yet Mary Millar is mainly preferable.

All things bright and beautiful, a creatures great and small. All things bright and comical, Poor Hyacinth tops them all! Warning: Spoilers
Here is the second standout of season 1, and just one of the many yet to come.

At some point I'm sure some of you have had to endure a baptism or 2. And if you're equally unlucky, among guests you have found one as irritating as Hyacinth! Her attitude to this can be summed up in this dialogue:

Richard: I always think there's something nice about a christening.

Hyacinth: there's something nicer if there's been a wedding first.

She is someone so stuck in the past, she doesn't even know she's in the present.

Top script and cast on top form. Hyacinth never looked so foolish, serves her right.
