The Governor Needs Help
hogwrassler27 January 2021
The opening narration features a map of the southwest US and a brief history lesson about The Mexican War (1846-1848) and the Teaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, which gave the United States title to California, Arizona, and New Mexico. The Hispanic citizens of one unnamed area are under the thumb of a self-appointed dictator who calls himself the tax collector. This despot, Andrew Gage, wears an inaccurate Confederate uniform, carries a sword, and uses a small army of thugs to steal the land by raising taxes. The governor asks the Ranger and Tonto to help. They investigate and befriend Rafael Rodrigo and his grandfather, Gage's latest victims. They are determined to overcome Gage, but it won't be easy. John Doucette plays Andrew Gage. He wears a confederate officer's uniform with gold Braid on the sleeve indicating a general officer, but he has no rank insignia at all on his collar to signify the actual rank. Gage calls himself a colonel, so there should have been three stars on his collar, but it is bare. This is a good episode with a lot of speechifying about how all Americans have the same rights.
