I loved myself. The End.
Rrrobert4 November 2019
Ted learns Mary is doing a writing course and decides he should be writing his own copy so joins the class. However he can't come up with any story ideas.

Funny episode with some fantastic set-pieces: Lou angrily confronting Ted in his dressing room, Ted's introduction to the class, Ted's garbled story about the school dance.

There are allusions to earlier events: Mary doing a writing class and aspirations of becoming a writer, Lou's novel. Mary would try to write articles in a later episode too.

One of the very best episodes
boatista2429 May 2012
This episode is among the very best of the entire series, and showcases Ted Knight at his finest as the bumbling boob and self-centered ignoramus that no-one could ever have played better. Edward Asner played the best foil ever seen in this episode. After Ted Baxter decides to write and broadcast his own unauthorized and ridiculous copy for the evening news, Lou Grant wants to kill him, but Georgette is in his dressing room. It is one of the funniest and most memorable scenes in television history. Following this fiasco, Ted decides to join Mary's writing class in an effort to justify his writing skills. He steals Mary's childhood story, and on a 4th grade level submits it before the class, much to the dismay of Mary.

This is definitely one of the top 10 MTM episodes and should be near the very top of that list. The last 5 minutes are so unbelievably funny, I hurt my side laughing. I could watch this story100 times and never tire of it. Watch it! You won't be disappointed. Ted was always my favorite and for good reason!

Ted Takes Up Writing
Hitchcoc19 February 2017
Ted Baxter finds out that some of the best anchormen write their own copy. So he takes Murray's news stories and "jazzes them up." It is hilarious, but Lou is not impressed. When Ted tells Lou that some of the "Big Ones" do a lot of their own writing, Lou tells him something he needs to know: He is not a "Big One." This all started when it was revealed that Mary was taking a writing class. Ted demands to take the class which is run by a stuffy old lady. Ted takes over, embarrassing himself and Mary. When it's pointed out that he is an anchorman, the teacher says that her husband was also in the Navy. Everything comes to a boil as Ted steals Mary's story and turns it into one of the most ridiculous (and funny) stories ever written. One of the best episodes of the series.
