"We'll be back for you soon."

Warning: Spoilers
In a way, I can commiserate with down and out Vince Hansen (Jake Busey). I wouldn't want to be bothered by door-to-door emissaries spouting nonsense about being 'Chosen'. However, if I was handed a DVD disc that contained my life story, I think I might have given it a second thought. Throughout the episode, background TV and radio broadcasts speak of escalating tensions among the world powers that threaten an unleashing of disaster for humanity. Apparently, the message on the disc had a different reaction from Vince's next door neighbor Speed (Nicholas Turturro), former girlfriend Lea (Claudette Mink), and apparently, just about everyone else in his neighborhood. Disregarding one last plea from Lea, Vince has to face the consequence of a wrongful decision that cast his fate to a cataclysmic outcome in The Twilight Zone.

Don't be so quick to slam the door on those folks...they might not be who you think they are.

When the episode begins, two folks arrive at Steve's front door and they seem like missionaries from some cult. Steve tells them to get lost...and they do, though they leave a DVD with him on their way. It turns out that Steve's neighbor also had a visit...and they left him a videotape. The fact that they say he's a 'chosen one' sounds very ominous...and Steve and this friend are worried about these odd people. Of course, since it's "The Twilight Zone" you know that something weird is in store for them.

There are lots of clues as to the finale...perhaps one or two too many. But it IS creative and weird...and well worth seeing. A most unique episode...and I have no idea why the other two posted reviews are so negative towards it.

Chosen for what?
kapelusznik184 December 2014
****SPOILERS**** Deep in debt and total wreck of a human being bottom feeder, for scraps thrown away in the garbage, Vince Hansen, Jack Busey, despite having a roof over his head, obviously left to him by his parents, has hit rock bottom in his both love and financial lives. It's just then when he's about to do himself in these two strangers Michael & Muriel, Andy Moxham & Kim Hawthorne, show up at his door with a both DVD and message about him being "Chosen" for what they don't tell him. Feeling all this is some kind of joke Vince kicks them both out of his place only to later see them cursing the neighborhood looking for new customers or victims.

It's when Vince's good friend the crippled biker Speed, Nick Turturro, is seen with the pair and invited them into his house, that lit up like a Christmas tree, that he starts to feel something strange is going on. This soon has a number of people in town disappear from sight with the only connection to each other is they were visited by this strange pair, Michael & Muriel, of kooks! With the FBI headed by Special Agent Schultz, Michael Popsa, looking deep into the case of the disappearing townspeople Vince is told to shut up and keep quite about what he knows in the name of national security.

****SPOILERS**** It's later that the truth comes out to this "Chosen" bit that Vince is experiencing and it has to do not only with him & Speed but his girlfriend Lea, Claudette Mink, who broke up with him and now, after being "Chosen", is back and just nuts about Vince! As we and Vince find out is that he missed the bus and now has to face the consequences. The consequences that those "Chosen" who unlike himself, who went along with the deal, were saved from suffering.

Tiresome Pointless Offering

I don't know if this is some sort of left behind thing. Is our boy supposed to repent. Knowing he is an utter jerk except for his disabled friend's needs. But the missionaries keep coming, handing out DVD's. I think this is one of those efforts by some group to use a TV show to proselytize. Anyway, he chooses to be the incredible crud all through the show. The scene as he runs around with his gun is awful.
