Scales can tell the future

Warning: Spoilers
These reviews are for The Garfield episodes only.We get a quickie at the beginning. Garfield keeps getting annoyed by Odie's barking, so he shoves a miniature television in his mouth. It was OK. Not one of the better quickie shorts.

Weighty Problem

Jon buys a brand new scale and Garfield decides to tamper with it, so Jon is deemed 50 pounds overweight, and Garfield is absolutely jubilant. This prank backfires as Garfield is overweight as well, and is forced to tag along and workout with Jon. Garfield is extremely out of shape, and suffers immensely while Jon fares much better than Garfield. Jon finds out about Garfield's meddling with the scale, and isn't a happy camper. This one is hilarious in my opinion. I got a big kick out of a scale talking trash like it did. Garfield's clever rhyming when Jon sang about working out was fun as well. Of course like most episodes with this show. You must suspend your disbelief in order to truly enjoy yourself. It's highly unrealistic a scale could do that kind of stuff, and tell the future like it did, but that's the nature of cartoons.

8/10

We get another Garfield quickie. Garfield psyches out Odie with a bone, so he gets some comeuppance when a huge dog has a big bone to play with. Not bad

Good Cat, Bad Cat

Garfield is up in the morning, thanks to some coffee. He has a war with his evil side, and his good side. The evil side manages to evaporate the good side for the most part, and eggs Garfield on to do cruel things to the mailman, and Jon Arbuckle himself. This one is pretty entertaining, if a bit silly. You're telling me Garfield needs influence to kick Odie off the table? Or do other things? Garfield is a naturally mischievous cat. I could have done without that. But there are some great gags here. The good Garfield angel coming back from Mexico, with Mexico products, and the ending is rather clever. It also has a good message about the dangers of karma. Karma can bite you if you decide to do too many bad things.

7.5/10

Favorite quote: Garfield: You've made me a liar. You know what happens to liars. Evil Garfield: They get weather jobs on T.V
